I read this a few years ago and realized that I never reviewed it.

Based on that delay, I think that this was a perfectly fine book. I did not wind up loving it enough to continue on in the series, but I had no clear negatives with it either.

If you've finished reading all of GRRM's books and are searching out that next high fantasy series to dig into, you want to give The Crown Tower a shot. The world is delicately crafted and the characters complex and compelling. Plus, there's this foolhardy adventure to embark on with them. Altogether it combines to make an enthralling tale.
