This book was received as an ARC from Quarto Publishing Group – Quarry - Voyageur Press in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

Beer is now making its rise into the culinary world and now with many people drinking cocktails and alcohol, Beer is now becoming more readily available and popular thanks to the food pairings in breweries. This book opened and expanded my knowledge on the brewing process, the ingredients in beer and what food to pair when drinking certain types of beer. I also love a book that includes recipes and processes as well. This book also included tips and interviews with other brew masters and other chefs and mixologists. Thanks to this book, not only do I know how to order the appropriate beer but, I know now how much it takes to prepare it and be sure that it tastes right.

We will consider adding this title to our TX Non-Fiction collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

Beer Pairing is a great resource for beer beginners, those that regularly enjoy beer, and those looking to elevate their beer experiences in the future. I think the book does a good job of explaining the complexities of beer itself, and the intricacies of tastes and pairings. The awareness that the aspects of the food, beer, and the palate of each taster each have their role to play- and that just because something works for others you might vary- is pointed out and there is no shamed leveled at those that might not like something just because it is deemed popular. I thought the book was well organized, and the explanations and examples were well done and accessible to novices and beer experts alike. There was detailed analysis of just about everything involved on the subject, and some people might be overwhelmed by the amount of ground covered, but the use of well chosen images and sections by experienced beer individuals break up what might otherwise to too dense to enjoy. I also liked that the authors included detailed citation documentation, which makes further reading much easier for those looking for more. The index also makes it easier for those looking for information on a singular type of beer or food to pair.

Beer Pairing is a comprehensive and valuable resource for anyone that wants to know more about beer, and how to match the perfect beer and food to match your mood and palate.

This book is perfect for a beer lover. It's less of a cookbook and more of a informational text with very beautifully done photographs. So if you're looking for a cookbook that is recommending beers for specific recipes to pair with them, this is probably not going to be what you're looking for. For instance it will tell you the name of a beer and it's information, and then will say I'm more generalized suggestion such as that it's good for Thanksgiving dinner. Or Pad Thai. It does get more specific than that but not actual physical recipes. It gives you information such as the country of origin, the tastes and smells (sensory notes) of each beer, had a bunch of other information that I don't understand because I'm not a beer brewers. 😂 But for anybody who loves beer, wants to learn about it and learn about what is a good option for pairing in a less specific way, you will love this book. I imagine that it would be a beer brewers heaven. I also think it could be extremely valuable for people who like to create their own recipes because it gives you the informational base that you need to determine what to make.

Beer pairing is an extensive book dealing from the beginnings from how the senses work, categorizing the flavor groups and working on the vocabulary. I learned a lot about what flavors will help each other, making the beer and food taste better. The book also gives a lot of examples of beer brands. This is really based on the American market. Living in Belgium I have plenty of choices but not many of the examples from the book. Its a really good book very interesting to learn more about beer.
I received an advance copy of the book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange of my honest review

This is quite a remarkable read, with the author focusing on the basics of smell, taste and beer, the author then takes the next step and describes the basics of pairing beer with food, with further descriptions to more advanced discussions. I recommend.

With the explosion in the popularity of craft beers, there is a huge need for a serious book on beer tasting and pairing. Taking their cue from wine tasting this book considers the aspects of tasting beer. Then it explores the tastes in different styles of beer.

The beer is only half the couple of beer and food. About half the book considers food. A description of many popular styles of beers has food pairings with it. Following this are pairings of beers with different foods, both expected and not expected.

An essential book for those wanting to explore beer seriously.

This book goes very in depth as to which beers pair with which food and why. I initially thought that the recipes for the food would be provided, however, they are not. I did not enjoy this as much as I thought I would, though I feel for serious beer drinkers, it would be a perfect book

3.5 stars
I'll be honest. I was expecting something lighter. Red meat, drink this. Fish? Drink that. But instead I got invited to a Ted Talk. Don't get me wrong, it was interesting but its also way more complicated than I was expecting. In fact it felt like I was studying for a test instead of learning about a tasty beverage and what to pair it with.

This is a good book for someone who nerds out about beer.

Beer Pairing is exactly what it claims to be, an excellent book showing you just how to pair your favorite beers with your favorite foods. For someone like me who loves beer, but doesn't really think as much about how it pairs with food, this will be a welcome addition to my bookshelf.

I saw that burger on the cover and I thought I was going to get the recipe but it doesn't have it. This book is literary about things that pairs well with each kind of beer. It's a very well written and detailed book with photos and graphics. There is no food recipes in this book, in case you're expecting it. It's definitely a great book for friends that drink beer and it also teaches people how to appreciate beer taste and pair it with food. I don't drink but I was interested in the food to make for my husband and his friends some time. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review

I received Beer Pairing as part of a NetGalley giveaway.

I've always been a beer drinker, but most of my friends are into wine or cocktails, so I feel a bit alone when it comes to exploring beers and beer pairings. This is a great primer for learning the different flavor profiles of beer and matching them with appropriate foods. It's a bit heavy on the science/theory (which may be a plus if you find that interesting) and lighter on the actual recommendations, but the format does push readers to learn the material and try and apply it to their food pairings rather than just given the answers outright.

A fun book, particularly as we head back into another period of increased isolation when experimenting with new foods and techniques may become an at-home hobby!
