What an adorable Christmas read! I loved the story and thought it had a sweet message that Christmas is more than just the gifts. The Slothy Claus was super cute but if we want to have a traditional Christmas we should leave the gifts to Santa Claus :)

But then they took stock of the things that the they had. They had love. They had hope. They had kindness and grace. They had joy and good fortune all over the place.

The Classic Christmas Story in the eyes of a sloth. (And other delightful animals.) Every kiddo loves animals and Christmas. This board book brings to them the love of two things animals and Christmas It is Christmas all thru the year in the life of a sloth and his animal friends.

Told in a rhyming cadence, it will a favorite bed time story all thru the year!

A special thank you to Thomas Nelson and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

Thank you netgalley for the chance to review!
I read this with my 7 year old. She really enjoyed it. The word "meanwhile" was used repetitively every other page other than that it was a cute story.

Let's start with the cover. Who doesn't love sloths? In all seriousness, the sloth is the reason I asked for this book. Haha.

My children and I absolutely loved this book. It was short and simple to read for all of us. The illustrations were fun and added a great touch to the storyline.

Sothy Claus by Jodie Shepherd made me laugh. Watching the sloth slowwwwwly move and gather gifts was fun. What I liked about it though was that even though the children did not get gifts, they still celebrated Christmas focusing on the meaning of the holiday, not the gifts. I think the illustrations were well done and I could almost feel myself wanting to hurry up Slothy Claus. This is a great children’s read aloud as it will open the conversation about Christmas being more than about presents. However, for little ones who still kind of believe, it might open the door to many questions.

Slothy Claus by Jodie Shepherd was a great Christmas read-aloud.

This story was so cute. I loved how the author really embraced the slowness of the sloth and how even though slothy claus didn't come on time the real celebration of Christmas still happened because it wasn't really about slothy claus.

I was so excited to read this book because I always say a sloth is my spirit animal. It did not disappoint. The illustrations were great. It was funny and I really loved the message of love and kindness and being thankful for what you have. Kids will love this book and I highly recommend it be added to some Christmas stockings this year!

What a fun cute story! It teaches children that Christmas isn't about gifts. I loved the Sloth and the beautiful illustrations. Thank you Thomas Nelson: CHILDREN'S via NetGalley for the complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

I absolutely loved sharing all kinds of holiday books with my students through my 30= years of teaching and Slothy Claus would have been added to my list. Before reading it to students, they would need to be familiar with a sloth and the fact it moves slowly. When reading the book aloud to students, it is so important that when the word sslloooooowwwly is dragged out, it should be read that way.

The gist of the story is that Slothy Claus is preparing for Christmas and his trip around the world to deliver gifts but we all know how slowly a sloth moves so he does not make it in time.. Children wake up Christmas morning with no gifts but then discover they have all the gifts they need with family, friends and the love surrounding them. Of course, this is the message that people want to project during the holidays but we tend to get all caught up in seeing how much we can do instead of looking to be thankful. Of course, eventauly Slothy Claus comes through and the things he brings are so much more appreciated.

The illustrations are cute and colorful. Young children will enjoy exploring the pictures for everything hidden because there is a lot in each picture. I also loved the fact that the character were all forest animals which makes it sweet for young children.

This book makes me overwhelmingly happy. It is not easy to get a good review out of me when it comes to rhyming children spokes because so often the rhymes are clunky and poorly timed and that is so very much not the case in this book. It was fun and sweet and the colors are vibrant and the drawings are beautifully done and the whole book flows flawlessly. I love that it has a moral substance without pushing an agenda. And I liked it brings holidays into a new light for kids making sure they understand that the true joy of Christmas has nothing to do with presents, but instead the thankfulness in our hearts for all of the gifts that we already have. Like our family and our friends, a place to live, a bed to sleep. I will be buying this book one day when I have children and maybe even before that cuz it's so cute 😂 I highly recommend it.

Thank you #netgalley for allowing me the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review #slothyclaus ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I was able to review Slothy Claus by Jodie Shepherd and Thomas Nelson: Children's for providing me with an advanced ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A cute story using the rhyms of The Night Before Christmas to tell the tale of Slothy Claus. Slothy who is super slow and misses the actual Christmas day but ends up celebrating in July. A great reminder to be grateful for what you already have and to find joy and love with your family, whether gifts are involved or not.

I'm not sure who put a sloth in charge of distributing Christmas presents, but I wasn't surprised when he didn't show up in time to make sure everyone's holidays were full of ribbons and wrapping paper. But what are the poor gift-less animals to do? Cry? Beg? Throw a tantrum? Perhaps this is actually an opportunity to be grateful for what they already have.

A cozy festive story with a touch of humor and such warm pictures, I'd be delighted to share this book with my students.

My five year loves sloths and thinks this book is hilarious. I enjoyed this book, because it touches on the true meaning of Christmas, it's not the gifts under the tree but of love, and kindness. We both loved that he shows up so late to the party, and how everyone is still excited to see him. The illustrations are gorgeous, and so colorful it just brings the characters to life. I'm adding this to my December books that we will be reading year after year.

I’ll start this review by saying that I’m a huge sloth lover! My favorite animal which is why I requested this one. It was very cute and I loved that the moral of the story was that we already have all that we need and don’t need all the “things” from Christmas. This is a cute story that I think kids would love and a great one for families to teach a lesson with. Also, fantastic illustration!

What a perfect story to get you into the Christmas mood! This follows Slothy Claus as he slowly gathers up all of the presents needed to deliver them on Christmas.. but things don’t go quite as planned.

I loved how this story rhymed the whole way through! It added that extra spark and I truly feel as though kids will adore this book. The illustrations were adorable and super colorful and full of the theme of Christmas.

It also has some great messages about being grateful for what you already have and to find joy and love with your family— whether gifts are involved or not.

Overall, this little children’s story was the perfect pick to get me hyped for Christmas and I think it will have kids all over the world preparing for Santa to come too!

5/5⭐️

Cute! With a sloth for santa, all animals must be patient - very patient - to get their Christmas presents. Written in rhymes, following the classic Night before Christmas, the story alternates between the animals' eager preparations for Christmas day and Slothy Claus' unhurried efforts to prepare himself and his sleigh. Will Slothy make it in time?
This colourful little tale is sure to delight young readers (or rather listeners to readers) and ease their waiting time until Christmas.

What an incredibly fun and sweet book. It had a very nice message in it about what is most important for Christmas, not presents but each other! The message was lighthearted and not overly heavy handed. I wouldn't have minded it being emphasized a little more. The illustrations were great! Very cute and lots of fun things to look at in the pictures. I think this is a winner for a Christmas kids book.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC

Thank you NetGalley and Jodie Shepherd for the book Slothy Claus. This is my personal review.
What a cute book with great illustrations for children. It has a good message for children and parents alike that Christmas is about love and kindness no matter when you celebrate it during the year. The story was done in a cute fun way that everyone can enjoy it being read.
Having a sloth be the main character was perfect- everyone loves a sloth!
This book will be one that is read every holiday.

This is a cute book with great illustrations. I appreciate the incorporation of a slow sloth into a cute Christmas tale and especially the lesson they learn from a late Christmas (e.g. love, kindness, and grace). I love children stories with morals and this one is a festive tale that can be told at Christmas or before (like July!) to teach people to be grateful for what they have year-round. Great book for kids!
