This was okay--it didn't hook me in enough to contemplate picking up book 2. I just didn't feel invested in the characters.

Three years ago, when Pen was 16 years old, she became part of the Breakers, a dance crew. At a time when she needed them the most, Xeno, York, Zayn and Dax took her into their crew and gave her a home with them. Her friendship with them turned into a love that formed in a different way with each of crew. The Breakers ended up breaking her heart and she has not seen them since. Now that she is starting at a competitive dance academy, they return to her life unexpectedly and she must fight to keep her focus on her career.

This is reverse harem story set in the dance world with a touch of suspense to it. Pen's brother is mixed up in some criminal activity and she gets caught up in his mess. But the scrappy and fierce Pen is not going to just be a victim. She is going to play it smart to protect herself, her dance carer, and her little sister as best she can.

What drew me into this story was the relationship that Pen built with Xeno, York, Zayn and Dax. Her family situation broke my heart and the boys were so awesome to her. They gave her something to distract her, opened her to the world of dance battles, and above all, they gave her love and support.

The narrators for this book did a great job with this audiobook. It's set in London and I love to hear the accents for the characters!

I did expect a little bit more from this book and unfortunately wasn't exactly hooked with the storyline as the action took place later in the story.

The story had a great premise and I like the dance plot and how the breakers got together but the execution wasn't my favorite.

Overall, the book was okay but just not for me.

This is a yes from me. This story followed out heroine Penelope Scott as she embarks on a new journey at a dance school she's been working hard to get into. But then she is faced by her past in more ways than one. Part of that past includes her childhood best friends (and former dance crew) The Breakers. The four boys that she never thought she'd see again are back and she has no clue why or how to react.

This book reminded me of the Step Up movies but set in the UK... with gangs... and a lot of sexual tension. I loved every second of it. Be a Paige had me in a literary chokehold with her writing. I was on the end of my seat wanted to know what and why. Nothing that happened in the present was as it seems because all of our characters choices were so influenced by the past that the readers where only slowly learning. All the anticipation of trying to make sense of all the relationships, actions and thoughts made me want more. So much more.

Pen is a main character that I found myself rooting for throughout the entire book. She's rough around the edges but her backstory put everything that she does into get perspective. As I was reading, her choices starting to make more sense, as the story unraveled. She is selfless, and fierce and a damn good dancer.

Then come The Breakers. I was so conflicted on what to think. Part of me wanted them to disappear in order to not ruin Pen's opportunity but they were all so dark and mysterious, so I just wanted to know more. I found myself in a struggle with my emotions that mirrored what Pen had been feeling throughout the book as well.

Reading this book through an audiobook really enhanced my entire experience. I could just close me eyes and allow the narration to guide me through the story. Being able to focus on the one sense of hearing the story, I felt fully emerged in the world that Bea Paige created. BUT THEN IT ENDED IN A FREAKING CLIFFHANGER!!!

Not that I was upset... who am I kidding? I was upset, but only because I didn't want the story to end. I sat there wanting more and upset that the second audiobook was still not out. The wait is going to be excruciating. Overall this book was a ride that I didn't want to get off. So it's a yes from me!

What a pleasant surprise!! I went into this book with no expectations. I don't have any connection to the dancing world so I was unsure how I would feel about the plot. But it really sucked me in and I can't wait for the next book.
The narration was amazing as well.

This book was not for me. Penn was such a pick me girl and I did not empathize with her troubles and she was very annoying. She complains almost constantly. The guys were fine. Also trying to picture the dances was difficult.
