"Here's to Us" is the sequel that we all hoped and prayed for! The love between the two main characters truly shows and the writing between the two authors combined present a story that I could read over and over again. The only part I struggled with this book was the frustration of wanting the two main characters back together and the time it took for that to happen! I cannot wait to see what Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera come out with next!

Excellent follow up to the first book. Readers can not go wrong with picking up a book by Albertalli and Silvera. My students eat this up. The characters are relatable and I really enjoyed meeting up with them again a few years down the road after the ending of the first book. It's nice to revisit a relationship and understand how those relationships can change over time.

Arthur and Ben return from "What If It's Us" after a bit of time has passed, both moving on with their lives and potential relationships. But the spark between them still remains, and it is up to them to figure out what to finally do about it. This is a very satisfying sequel featuring two very likable characters.

When I reviewed the first book in this duology, I had no idea there would be a sequel. TikTok wasn’t yet a thing, and books being literally willed into existence by viral videos also wasn’t a thing.

But I’m so glad it happened.

The overall theme of my review for Book 1 was how very REAL it was, and how well it captured the messy nature of love and relationships, both platonic and romantic.

Adam and Becky have managed to harness that same energy in the sequel, but they’ve upped the ante on the typical YA formula, and they’ve taken us into the lives of older characters who are now navigating adulthood and trying to move on from the choices they made at the end of Book 1, and in the intervening months/years between that ending and this book’s beginning.

Arthur and Ben are perfectly imperfect, and the way they attempt to navigate a different kind of relationship here is both maddening and endearing. It’s nice to see an exploration of multiple lives and loves where there’s no clear “bad guy,” and no clear asshole in any romantic equation.

In Book 1, it was easy for Ben to move on from a toxic, cheating ex. But here, there’s not such an easy path forward as our protagonists seek out what the universe has in store for them.

I have a strict no-spoilers rule, which was hard to keep in my review of Book 1. I have to work hard in this review to keep that rule as well, so I’d better stop there. But know that Arthur and Ben’s world is not one I found easy to leave.

I stretched my time in this story out over more than a month, and when I finally reached the epilogue (in tears, mind you), I didn’t want to go on, know there were fewer than twenty pages left.

But boy, oh boy…those last twenty pages. What an unexpectedly cathartic release of narrative tension and two books of storytelling genius. I loved it more than I can say, and I can’t wait to revisit this wonderful story again someday down the road.

I liked seeing these characters in a different part of their life. I loved that they acknowledged the idyllic nature o. f their first romance and how that was unsustainable, a good wake=up call for readers who thought that type of relationship was the norm.

Yes!! Finally the sequel we have all been waiting for. Years later Ben and Arthur have moved on and found new relationships and a new purpose in life. Yet again their paths cross and they have to make the ultimate decision if they are happy in their new relationships or they can't fight the urge to be with each other again. This author duo brings the perfect LGBTQ romcom.

I loved the first book about these two characters, and it is a big hit with my students, so I was so excited to get this sequel and it did not disappoint. Ben and Arthur left us with a cliffhanger at the end of the first book, and here they are after time has passed, both with new loves but with a lot of feelings and guilt towards each other. People who are rooting for their love will not be disappointed in this book, as the connection between these two characters is as strong as ever. For those of us looking for answers and closure after the first book, well you’ll just have to read this one and see!

This was adorable!!!! Truly!!!! Absolutely everything about the book itself had me smiling ear to ear, I cried I laughed and I appreciated the story so much more then I already did. Everything about these characters has touched me in ways I didn’t know possible. It was comedic when need be and a mix of happiness and sadness but the blend of both is exactly what made me continue on. Everything about this had me smiling by the end. 5/5 very happy and satisfied stars!

After being HIGHLY disappointed with the ending of Book 1, i needed to read book 2 to get some closure. I found the events of book 2 to satisfy the needs i had from book 1 but still didn’t LOVE it. It was realistic in the sense of moving on and not waiting around for something to happen with someone things didn’t work out with. Right person. Wrong time.

this was exactly what i needed, as i’m slowly but finally coming out of my reading slump. so much fluff, so much cuteness!! especially seeing ben and arthur grow up and mature in their own ways was so heartwarming to read about, i love them so much :(

The sweet Happy Ever After follow up that I wanted when reading "What If It's Us." Arthur and Ben are back, but not together. When Arthur returns to NYC for an internship and runs into Ben, he starts to worry that his feelings for Ben never left. Ben is now with Mario, but is he? Are they friends or are they boyfriends? And does he really want to move to LA with Mario, or is he lost in his potential future, grasping at whatever seems quickest and easiest?

Thanks to HarperCollins Children's Books, Quill Tree Books, and NetGalley for an advanced copy of Here's to Us.

Here's to Us is the sequel to What If It's Us which is a book that I loved. In fact, Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera are now auto-buy authors for me. I've loved everything I've read by each of them!

In this follow-up to What If Its Us, Arthur is back in New York, working as a theater intern. He has a new boyfriend, but he can't stop thinking about his first love, Ben. Ben is still in New York, working on his first book. He also has a new sort-of boyfriend, but he can't stop thinking about Arthur. Although the story was pretty predictable, I loved every moment of it. I enjoyed revisiting Ben and Arthur's friends and meeting the boys' new loves while still rooting for their first love to be rekindled.

I was in the minority in that I liked the ending of the first novel, What If It's Us. It felt true to the characters and their age, and a realistic conclusion of how first 'true' love often ends. I loved that and was quite apprehensive when the announcement of the sequel came out.
Thankfully against my worries that this sequel would undo the realness of the original conclusion, I truly loved and enjoyed this sequel as well! There was some sadness but it was an excellent continuation of the story, and the characters still felt and sounded very much the same. I applaud Becky and Adam for what they did with this novel. I truly hope to be able to read more from them as a co-author duo again in the future!

A very sweet, believable, funny, and romantic ending for Ben and Arthur's story. if you loved WHAT IF IT'S US you're going to love this follow up which gives fans absolutely everything they could have ever wanted.

Albertalli and Silvera for the win AGAIN! It was great to catch up with Ben and Arthur, now two years after the events in What If It's Us. Their friends are here, too, so if you need a Dylan fix, you're not going to be disappointed.

Ben and Arthur are dating amazing guys and everything is going great. Ben has been chosen for an internship working in NYC for an off-broadway director. Ben is finishing up his fantasy novel. But deep down, they still pine for each other, whether they'll admit it or not. The questioning of one's heart and loyalties is very real and relatable - haven't we all been there?

Here's what I love about this book: the conflicts are not contrived and they're not insipid. It's hard to be mature and happy for exes, no matter one's age, and Ben and Arthur try to . It's hard to know the right thing to do. It's hard to know what to do - period. That all comes through the characters, along with great friendships and family support.

My thanks to Harper Collins Children's Books/Quill Tree Books and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love these two authors separately but together is heaven. I could read this and its predecessor over and over and over just to keep reading them. As usual well written, amazing plot and perfect characters.

In the two years that have passed their short-lived meet-cute romance in What If It’s Us? Ben and Arthur have left each other all the way to another love(s), not maintaining contact or even mutual friends… until they end up in New York City for the summer. Ben is in college (although all he wants to do is write his fantasy novel) and Arthur has a theatre internship (that involves spreadsheets and tracking props). As before, in a series of coincidences, their paths keep crossing, and their friendship, connection and attraction expands exponentially until it’s too big to ignore.

Meanwhile, Ben’s hottie Mario wants his to move to L.A. to pursue a screenwriting career, while Arthur’s quiet Mikey, who doesn’t even want to hold hands in public, is on the verge of confessing feelings.

This is a sweet, angsty dramatic big gay love story that gives Ben and Art the happy ending they deserve.

I can’t ever say enough about how amazing this collaboration between Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli is because it’s just too perfect. I looooved the first book and was so excited to get back into the world with Ben and Arthur. Though it’s classified as YA, it’s definitely leaning towards the experiences of characters in their late teens and early 20s figuring out life after college. The dual narrators are perfect and each character’s idiosyncrasies come alive. The ending brought some tears and it was worth it. Both authors capture New York in a way that makes love and friendship and happenstance something to look forward too. I don’t often want books to get changed by films, but these books are prime for adaptation. Fingers crossed. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

I will confess I'd forgotten a lot of the first novel when I read this one, but remembered enjoying it, and the relationship between Ben and Arthur. This time, though? I found myself so much more invested in their growth as individuals, and it actually made me angry as the novel inevitably pulled them back together. Mikey and Mario deserved better,!

This was sweet and well written, but I was a little disappointed at the one-true-love wrap up of the story. I liked how the previous book in the series, contravening other romance novels, pretty realistically implied that people can have multiple romantic relationships and be in love more than once in their lives. This one really took that back! But it was a lovely romance, anyway.
