I really liked this one! It was a compelling read and I didn't feel pulled out of the story. I wanted to keep reading.

"Over It - Forgetting Who You're Expected to Be and Becoming Who You Already Are" by Kelsey Grimm is a book about life. Sometimes, life can feel overwhelming and difficult, but this book is here to help you figure everything out.

The author, Kelsey Grimm, talks about her own personal experiences in life. She talks about abusive relationships, of freedom and of realising who you really are. It is a book about expectations from our society and culture, and how we can make sure to gain a better life.

Kelsey Grimm has been through a lot! A whole lot! Therefore, this book becomes a hard read. Tough stories and lots of personal experiences.

This is a book that will show you how to get a better life, even though it can be tough sometimes.

I stopped reading around Chapter 5. The author began espousing views that I did not agree with and just couldn’t go any further.

I loved this book. Going into it i didn't know what to expect but by the ending i felt like i had just met a friend who got what being insecured looked like, what trying to be liked looked like and just got it and i came away knowing the Kelsey even better. Which i loved.
So if you're looking for a book that gets you and is relatable then this book is for you

This book isn't for everybody. This isn't your typical "Christian" life/personal growth story. It's real and raw and so, so vulnerable. Kelsey doesn't hold back on sharing her past and her experience. She doesn't hold back on saying things straight. She doesn't hold back on the truth. It's messy and it's heartbreaking.

But that is what makes this book so approachable and moving. Reading this is like sitting down with Kelsey and letting her share her heart with you. It doesn't beat around the bush or spout the same old Christian "advice" that many other books circle around to. It's hopeful and empowering. The right reader can definitely gain a lot from reading her story and approaching some of these taboo topics from a new perspective.

Kelsey's hope is that sharing her story will help someone else who has experienced something similar. While I have not experienced what she did, I could still relate a lot to the expectations and pressures of society, both secular and Christian, that she mentions. Anybody who feels the same will find kinship in Kelsey's words and a new perspective on what it means to embrace who you already are.

This book was a pleasant surprise for me, I did not expect to be so moved by it.
Kelsey is very open about her past and the hard things she has been through. Coming from a Christian family and having many friends who also have grown up Christian, I can relate to the unspoken legalism we can feel growing up, a pressure to be "good", thinking it is goodness that saves, not grace; and the shame and lies and hurt this can lead to. I was never abused as Kelsey has been, but throughout this whole story all I could feel was "This could have been my story", and it brought tears to my eyes several times reading what she has been through. I think this book is important and will be helpful to many. I want to thank Kelsey for being so open, I do believe she will be a blessing to many who read her book. I can't recommend this enough.

This book is nothing special. It is enjoyable and a nice read but there isn't anything groundbreaking compared to other books of similar topics. I am sure you will love it if you love the author.

Although the book was not a light subject to tackle it was well written and had a lot of positive tones throughout. I'm hopeful other people in a relationship like this or just women who think people they see on instagram have it all together all the time will have a chance to read it! I'd recommend.

I love reading books about musicians. This was a really great read by Christian singer Kelsey Gramm.
Premise
A beloved musician shares her heart-wrenching story about how an abusive relationship helped her realize the importance of gaining freedom, letting go of expectations, and embracing the beautiful reality of who you already are.
I really enjoyed reading her story. It was very inspiring and relatable. I wasn’t very familiar with Kelsey before reading this and I learned so much about her and she definitely gained a new fan. Glad I picked this one up!
