I appreciate the opportunity to read and review this book at the time prior to release. Unfortunately my taste in books have changed a good bit in the last couple of years, and I am not reading as many YA books. Also as a mood reader, it can be quite difficult at times to read book around the time of release. If I read and review the book in the future, I will add my review here. Thanks again for the opportunity.

I loved the story, the world building and meeting the different characters. I felt completely immersed in the story and couldn't stop reading it.

I really enjoyed this one. The writing was easy and the characters were a lot of fun to get to know. I loved the relationship between Ava and her sisters, reminding me of the closeness between the family members in Jane The Virgin. I thought the theme of grief was done beautifully and I loved the story line of Charlie and Nana. I would have loved to read more about Achilles and Orion's relationship.

2.5 rounded up to 3

I had really high hopes for this story when I heard it's Jane The Virgin meets The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Unfortunately I couldn't really connect with the characters and wanted more character development in the story. Of course this is probably better for a younger audience. I usually enjoy YA novels but something was missing from this one for me.

I think the issue has more to do with me then the book. For some reason I wasn’t invested and I struggle to get through it. I think it had to do with the mindset I had going in. I do plan on giving it a another shot in the future

Thank you to Netgalley and Razorbill for sending me a copy of this book! All opinions are my own!

This book was SO CUTE!! From the very start, it hooks the reader and doesn't let go! I could have read it all in one sitting if life hadn't gotten in the way. It has this way of keeping you on your toes and making sure that you absolutely need to know what's coming next.

I loved the characters and how much they had to learn and grow throughout the story. It made things matter so much more and made me that much more invested in what was going to happen to them. It was balanced so well with the humor and sweetness of the book. The romance was also so well balanced with familial and sisterly love, and there was so much depth to each part of it.

The one thing is that the bigger reveals of the book were something I was able to predict, which doesn't often happen for me. That made it a little less impactful, but the story itself was still so sweet and endearing.

If you love romcoms and are looking for a diverse one, this is the book for you!

I really enjoyed this! I thought it was a really intensely interwoven story of fate in so many different ways. And I love the idea that this family passes blessings down to the women in their family by generation. That’s such a neat premise. I love what Ava’s ended up being too. So heartwarming!

I had to put this book down and force myself to pick it back up several times. I found Ava to be exasperating throughout the entire book. Along with that, I don't believe that there was a real connection between Ava and Rion. I adored the sisterly bond, but nothing else.

This was great! I loved the story, the characters, and their dynamic. I would've liked maybe a bit more relationship development, but not a huge complaint on my end, didn't hinder my enjoyment much at all. The magical realism element of this book was fantastic and I will definitely be recommending on my page :)

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Teen for the review copy in exchange for a review, I am sorry this is so late!

This book was adorable and entertaining! It hooked me from the beginning and I loved learning about the characters. I was reading like 5 books at the time I was reading this one so I won’t go into too much detail because I don't want to mix them together. I loved the writing in this book and wanted to keep reading. I really liked reading more in the magical realism genre and I can not wait to explore this genre further

I 100% will be rereading this one.

This was a cute book. However, I expected a bit more from the story development. I liked the premise of the story. The character development was pretty great! I loved their dynamic. It was my first time reading something by this author and I wasnt disappointed.

So much fun! That's how I would describe this book. I loved everything about it, the sibling relationships, the family, the magic, the overall story and how it was all woven together so beautifully. I loved the little twists, even ones that I suspected were worked so masterfully that I didn't mind seeing them coming.

I also loved the relationship between the three sisters, and how they all sounded very unique but you could also feel the love between them. I wanted a bit more from Rion, whose character I could never really get a good handle on, but that didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story.

This is very much a Young Adult novel that is aimed at teens, and I think teenage me would have loved it, hence the 5 stars.

I was first interested in this novel because of the Mexican-American 🇲🇽🇺🇸 representation which is something I don’t come across often. I am always desperate to find myself in books and I treasure all the ones I can find. Flirting with Fate was such a sweet and beautiful story that made my heart go warm.

This is the ya romance I wish I had 15 years ago! I devoured it in one day because I was just so caught up in the whimsical story 🥰

I loved the bond of the sisters and the women in general. I loved there was some bi representation. I loved the adorable romance!

I definitely recommend this to the younger side of the young adult audience and to everyone who just enjoys a cute read with awesome representation.

I’m not usually a fan of magical realism or fantasy but this was a cute story. YA rom coms are always so easy to follow and the characters aren’t overly complicated. The intertwining of the families and learning about their history was done well, but I was worried toward the end that the main characters might be related. Thankfully that doesn’t end up being the case. Overall I was entertained and followed the story well.

Ava is on her way to meet her dying grandmother and get her grandmother’s inheritance (powers) when she gets in a car accident. #partner @penguinteen

The result? Someone else, Achilles, receives her power.

Now, Ava must get her powers back from him with the help of her grandmother as her spirit guide. While the story is superficially about getting her powers, the deeper theme is the strong familial ties and the guilt she has over not being with her grandmother.

This was a fun read, despite the fact that I did not like Achilles at the beginning of the story (which makes it hard to like him in the end).

The cover is beautiful and the synopsis sounded so amazing but the book felt like there was something missing.
The writing was very easy to pick up and follow but the characters felt a bit flat, although I did like them. Just expected something more.

Flirting with Fate follows the story of Ava who is afraid she has missed her blessing. Ava is the youngest of 3 sisters. The women in their family have been able to pass blessings along from generation to generation, but only on their deathbed. When their grandmother passes, Ava is not able to make it before she passes to collect her blessing. As Ava tries to find her blessing, she falls into an unexpected relationship with the boy who got her blessing by mistake.

This is a sweet YA romance, with ghosts/saints, and beautiful sister relationships.

I would consider this book more middle grade than young adult. It fell a little flat for me. I wasn't super into the plot and the characters didn't have enough substance for me. The romance was cute but underdeveloped and I didn't really fall in love with the characters. Ultimately, I think I'm just not the target for this novel.

**3.5 Stars**
Flirting with Fate was cute and very PG so great for the younger teen readers and anyone who likes clean YA romance, I just feel like the plot moved a little slowly. There was also a fairytale that was randomly inserted into the book, told to the main character when she was a child from her absentee mother, that was not needed and made the story even more slow since it did not add anything to the plot.

Overall this was a sweet YA romance with a touch of magic and an amazing family dynamic (the relationship between the sisters was relationship goals!) and I am sure other readers will just eat it up. I recommend this for younger YA readers since the story was very clean and had a great message about love and relationships that is beneficial to all ages. I would check out more books from this author in the future, and I guess this is the first in a series (most likely a companion novel since Flirting With Fate wrapped up nicely all on its own).
