A lovely Christmas story of a second chance
Dahlia Rose, USA Today best-selling multi genre author, is presenting her first book published by Hallmark Publishing, entitled "Mistletoe in Juneau: An Alaskan Christmas romance from Hallmark Publishing". Thirty-year old Danni St. Peters is a loves New York city, not only because she was born and raised in Brooklyn girl, but also because she knows the city quite well. She has an adventurous spirit and has made a name for herself with her video channel "Danni On the Run." But she has also struggles, there is Austin Hammon - is he her boyfriend or her manager? And there are her parents. Ultimately she decides to leave the city behind for some time and visit her friend Amy in Auke Bay. There she meets Declan who has his own struggles, although his "job as a state trooper in Auke Bay pulled him out of that stagnant existence, but it was still slow going. He figured that new people, especially women, would either be put off when they learned about his prosthetic leg, or they’d get involved and he’d end up being hurt. Not if, but when, the relationship didn’t work out. There was no way he was setting himself up for that" (Chapter Two). How will he deal with the challenges caused by Danni? And what will Danni ultimately do?
This was the first book Dahlia Rose which I read and I really liked it. I highly recommend this story to all readers who love clean and encouraging books with second chances. This book also includes one of the special Hallmark recipes, this one a super-simple, amazing Chocolate Cake with a secret ingredient.

If this book is not a hallmark movie for the 2022 season I will be so mad. This has to be a movie just for the George scenes. Please Please Please Hallmark make it a movie. I loved the setting, the characters, the plot. I like that things seemed to grow so naturally even as the reader you could almost miss it, it was so subtle.

I enjoyed this book; it was a great twist on the big city girl goes to a small town trope. All the details around Alaska especially daily life in the winter as well as the cultural traditions were really interesting and intriguing. You can't can't more Christmas in village community kind of feels than in Alaska!

The author does an excellent job describing the people, the landscape, the town gatherings so you can picture it all vividly. I really liked her writing style and I'll definitely read more from Dahlia Rose.

<spoiler>The big romantic gesture at the end - wow I was exhausted just thinking about all those flights back and forth and back and forth. </spoiler>

3.5 Hearts I couldn’t wait to read this book for the holidays. I lived in Alaska, though a different city, so I felt I already had a connection but I really had to force myself to get into this story. When I did I enjoyed it.

The story is one we have heard a million times. She needs a break from a crazy life. He has been burned before so has no desire to fall from another outsider. But sparks fly anyway.

Once I got into the story it was much better. There is good and bad in this story but romance is like that.

How is it, every Hallmark book I read or movie I watch makes me want to move away to that small town in Vermont or Connecticut and begin to live my life in the snowy region? This story is no different - only this time I am ready for too many months of winter in a small town near Juneau, Alaska. My bucket list already has an Alaskan cruise up near the top, so why not just settle in and live there year round!

This time around, Danni - the quintessential influencer from New York - feels that her life is spiraling out of control. Her best friend, who she has not seen in TOO LONG, is about to have a baby, her boyfriend is not understanding that she wants out of the relationship, and it's all just a bit too much. WE ARE OFF TO ALASKA to visit Danni's best friend, Amy and her husband Mateo!

Once there, the Hallmark magic begins. What makes this book stand out isn't just the beauty of Alaska (which, again, I hope becomes a movie!) but also the way the author tackles post military life and PTSD. Declan, having lost his leg while serving, has gone home to his small town near Juneau, but is still reeling from not only losing his leg, PTSD from experiencing war, but also losing the love of his life when she walked away from him and his battered body. Learning to open his heart again is definitely not easy.

Danni also doesn't participate in ONLY holiday activities, as she also gets to experience life in Alaska. We get to read about ice fishing, seeing the Northern Lights, and how to get around with thick snow (hello snowmobiling)! But don't worry - there's still some holiday magic that goes along with Danni and Declan's story as well!

This book has everything you need for a classic Hallmark Christmas. Pick it up today for when you are ready to dive into the holiday cheer!

Mistletoe in Juneau
author: Dahlia Rose
Hallmark Publishing

Dahlia Rose provides a warm, romantic winter read, set amidst the icy splendor of Alaska, in her new book Mistletoe in Juneau. In the small Juneau community of Auke Bay, Manhattan city girl Danni and Alaskan State Trooper Declan have a lot to learn about each other, and the magic of mistletoe just might speed up the process.
Upon landing in Alaska to visit her friend Amy, Danni is not only captivated by the stunning beauty of the wild Alaska landscape, but also curious about the people and what she can learn about herself here. Declan, a lonely former Army crew chief, serves the community both in his trooper job and altruistically.
Rose's writing assures that readers have the same exhilarating, adventurous, experiences as Danni and Declan as they acclimate over chocolate treats and sight-seeing. I loved the locale and all it offers, with ice skating, local bakery Baker's Dozen, and so much charm and spirit of the townspeople. Settle in with a chocolate coffee for a cozy, romantic stay in Alaska, but brace for some slippery falls on ice and snowy rides across rugged terrain along the way.
Thank you to Net Galley and Hallmark Publishing for the advance reader's copy and opportunity to provide my unbiased review.

Mistletoe in Juneau is uch a sweet small-town romance between a rising social influencer and a reluctant wounded warrior. There are so many fascinating traditions, and people described I couldn't recommend it enough! It gave me a wonderful old-time Christmas feeling, and I hope Hallmark makes this one into a movie!

Hallmark Publishing has done it again with an Alaskan Christmas romance titled Mistletoe in Juneau by Dahlia Rose. This need-a-change but out-of-her-element story will have you cheering Danni on while also wanting to push her into the local sheriff’s arms.

My only question is when will Hallmark make this into a Christmas movie. It should be soon because this is a perfect story for the movie channel! I guess I really have more questions such as who will play the character Danni? I can see her in my mind so I have some idea about that. Then who will play Declan. That character will need a special touch with Declan’s past which still affect him. Until then read Mistletoe in Juneau for a heartwarming, romantic Christmas story.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Loved it. A sweet, clean romance. Interesting and informative visit to Alaska. While I have briefly visited the state, there is so much to learn about the people that live there. Lots of cute moments. As we all know, there is more to life than work or our job. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley.

Mistletoe in Juneau is a lovely holiday offering by author Dahlia Rose. Danni St. Peters has made a name for herself in the world of influencers with her Danni on the Run blog. Her self appointed manager Austin Hammond has helped further her presence, has even tried to make himself her boyfriend, but he isn’t listening to what Danni says and she has had it.

When Danni’s best friend Amy begs her to come spend Christmas with her and her young family just outside of Juneau, Danni surprises them both and says yes, planning to spend the month of December with them. With many plane changes, Danni finally arrives at the small airport in Juneau on the double prop plane piloted by local pilot Cooper. Expecting Amy to pick her up at the airport, Danni is surprised by the handsome trooper who is there in Amy’s stead.

This is a healing trip for Danni, who is seeking direction in her life. She feels a disappointment to her very conservative family. She is no longer as excited about her blog as she was in the early days when she first began on a shoestring budget she had scrimped and saved for that first Paris trip. Now, in Auke Bay, she is feeling acceptance and clarity. And then there is the quiet, handsome, veteran who is now the sergeant trooper for the small town.

This is a lovely holiday story with the perfect setting! With real reindeer and pretend Santas, and the wit and warmth of the people of this out of the way town, Danni is on the cusp of finding her new direction. Mistletoe in Juneau is such a fun holiday read. I very much enjoyed it and I do recommend it!

I loved the warmth and kindness of this book. Difficult relationships are handled with care and the adventure of Alaska is in full force. 'Mistletoe in Juneau' is very current in theme with a Social Influencer meeting a wounded warrior. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the charming characters and the descriptions of the people and landscapes of Alaska. I'd highly recommend this book to those that enjoy a perfect slice of Christmas joy.

Mistletoe in Juneau felt exactly like a Hallmark Xmas movie right down to the sweet, relatively low angst plot and likable characters. The pace was a bit slow, but it had all of the Christmasy goodness that I love in holiday romances, including fun, holiday themed activities, and lots of time with friends and family. This was definitely a "love at first sight" kind of book. Danni and Declan fell in love and were thinking about a lifetime together pretty quickly, given that they'd only shared one brief kiss. It also seemed like Danni was making some pretty radical changes to her life by the end of the book, but that was in keeping with her character. She wasn't the sort to overanalyze decisions. She liked to jump in with both feet, then figure out the details later. As for Declan, he needed stability to deal with his PTSD, and since their relationship didn't require any major changes on his part, I think it worked well for him.

However, I have one issue with the book, and that is lack of basic geographical research. The author does not appear to have done any research on travel within Alaska, or to have looked at a map. She didn't seem to be aware that if you are traveling to Juneau from the lower 48, except for rare circumstances when all flights are booked, you would fly nonstop direct from Seattle, not go first to Anchorage or Fairbanks, both of which are more northern than Juneau. There were also several odd travel passages near the end of the book. The most puzzling was when the heroine was trying to get back to Juneau from NYC and was advised that if worst came to worst, she could drive there from Anchorage or Fairbanks. However, Juneau sits on an isolated bay in southeastern Alaska with literally NO roads in. The only way to get to Juneau from the north is either by plane, or by a 14 hour drive south followed by 17 hour ferry trip. These errors threw me out of the story every time.

This is the story of Danni who is a social media influencer in NY who goes to visit her best friend in Juneau, Alaska.for the month of December. While there she meets Declan a army vet who lost a leg and is now working as a trooper. He has a lot of baggage and is afraid to love again. Danni's life has gotten away from her original purpose and she has always felt she didn't fit in with her family. They fall in love but are too afraid to tell each other. As they figure things out about themselves and what they really want the story continues.

Mistletoe in Juneau by Dahlia Rose is such a sweet and beautiful story. It has all the elements of an engaging read with characters you grow to love taking place in a beautiful area. I really enjoyed this book.
The story revolves around Danni who is living in New York and after a bad 'breakup' decides to visit her friend in Alaska for Christmas. Here is where the story really develops.
In Alaska, she is drawn to the local sheriff, Declan, who is former military recovering from an injury and a broken heart.
Declan saves Danni and she saves him.
I absolutely loved their story and how their friendship/romance evolved while we get to read about the beauty of Alaska including the northern lights and all the amazing things about Alaska. The author's description of everything around them was really well written.
I recommend this unforgettable book. A huge thank you to Hallmark Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.
