When I first started reading this I wasn't sure what to expect from the book, and the author. Absolution was riveting in the fact it was very educational about certain issues in the Catholic church. It also showed us a friendship that evolved from a tragedy that spanned years. Then as they both worked together to basically right a wrong, I felt like I was investigating this with them, and helping them to right the wrong.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves crime mysteries. This is my open and honest opinion.

This author, Henry Hack, really spins an interesting, deeply involved story. Without getting into the "plot," The characters become "real", his knowledge of police procedural, and the personalities of policemen help keep the book believable and interesting. I would recommend this book to all mystery readers.

Several plots and sub-plots are woven together in this excellent novel. The relationship between a Catholic priest and a Jewish-Catholic-atheist cop is key to the story that also highlights similarities between the Catholic Church and NYPD. Character development is amazing as the protagonists and the supporting characters all seem so real that you're sad the story ends (or their lives end) and you must say goodbye.

This book was sent to me on Kindle by Netgalley for a review. It is different in that the murder happens at the beginning of the book with the protagonist looking for absolution...there are twists and turns...some red herrings...some characters who I wished would move on...this is not my favorite type of genre...dark...dark...however, the story moves somewhat quickly at times. As to the accents of the parents, perhaps that is for authenticity, but that seems incongruous to the rest of the story...try this one, it might work.
