As an elementary school teacher, I’m always on the lookout for books that teach about emotions. Children have a difficult time putting their feelings into words and books like this held provide them with the tools to help. This book is one in a series and the focus is on feeling afraid. It helps teach children that fear is a normal emotion and provides them with ways to accept and process their fear. There are photographs of real children which is more helpful for kids to relate to than illustrations. I highly recommend this series of feelings books for those who work with young children.

This is a great children's book, which talks about what feeling afraid is, how it feels, when you might feel afraid, and it gives advice on what to do to stop feeling afraid, such as listening to calming music. The book is full of easy to read text and beautiful photographs, which help to portray the message of the book to young children. It also has a handy word list at the end of the book. My daughter and I really enjoyed the book and we both learned a lot from it.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and Norwood House Press for a copy of "Feeling Angry" in exchange for my honest review.

Parents/caregivers can start a conversation asking what are some scary things? Are all people afraid of the same things? How do people react? How do you feel?

You can teach children that feeling scared helps to protects you but it can also keep you from trying new things. You can help teach them to deal with their fears by talking, taking deep breaths, listening to music. What does it mean to feel afraid? Do grown-ups ever feel afraid?

Children can draw pictures of the emotion or discuss the pictures. There is a further reading list and a Word List to help with fluency.

This book is part of a series that focuses on feelings. I think that it does an excellent job of addressing its topic for its young readers.

Children will learn that everyone is afraid of something but that not everyone is afraid of the same things. They will discover some ways in which fear can be helpful and times when it may hold them back. Some (mindfulness) techniques for coping are offered, along with the suggestion of talking to a trusted adult and remembering that the feeling may not last.

At the end of the book there is a section that suggests ways to talk about fears.

The book is full of photographs. These will help children to relate to the text and also shows kids just like them who feel and cope with being afraid.

I recommend this one. It offers a good way to open a discussion withe the goal of helping a child to feel and cope better.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.

This is a great resource to help develop emotional recognition and intelligence. The concept of fear is presented simply, with a great explanation of why it can be a helpful or harmful thing, and there is no judgment of the feeling, which I really appreciated.

The language is simple without being condescending and the pictures are helpful to illustrate and spark discussion. The extra information at the end (suggested reading, activities, word lists) was a nice bonus and very valuable.

This would be an excellent addition to school, classroom, and personal libraries for young kids!

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
