As an elementary school teacher, I’m always on the lookout for books that teach about emotions. Children have a difficult time putting their feelings into words and books like this held provide them with the tools to help. This book is one in a series and the focus is on anger. There are photographs of real children which is more helpful for kids to relate to than illustrations. I highly recommend this series of feelings books for those who work with young children.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Feeling Angry is one of the books in this early reader series which focuses on different feelings and emotions for children. This book is a very good resource for children to have access to Asia explains what anger looks like, how it an feel, how it is shown and how it can leave us feeling. The book explains to children that it's oerfectly OK to get angry or feel angry and even to release that anger, but it also points out that hurting someone or breaking something in anger is not OK. The book gives alternative ideas to try to help children find other ways to release this anger such as colouring, scribbling on paper, a drum kit etc.
At the back of the book are some good discussion Questions to do with the child the book is shared with and a list of high frequency words and content words too.
This book is a great idea for early readers and on such a great topic too.

This is a fantastic children's book, which talks about what anger is, how it feels, when you might feel angry, and it gives advice on what to do to overcome angry feelings. The book is full of easy to read text and superb photographs, which help to portray the message of the book to young children. It also has a great word list at the end of the book. My daughter really enjoyed the book and she learned a lot from it.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Anger can be such a tough and overwhelming emotion for kids. It can burst upon them and beg to be released. Learning to cope with this emotion when young will serve kids throughout their lives.

This entry in an on-going series for beginning readers is a welcome one. Through photos and text, children are helped to understand this primal emotion and learn ways to manage it. The author points out that it is fine to feel angry but that some responses to this overwhelming emotion can be problematic. Readers then see how much better it feels when anger has been channeled in a helpful way (play drums, draw an angry picture, talk to someone).

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.

Thank you NetGalley and Norwood House Press for a copy of "Feeling Angry" in exchange for my honest review.

Parents and caregivers can help children explore what angry feels like. When do they feel angry, what is not okay to do when angry?

Parents can open discussions on what it means to be angry. Exploring safe ways to let angry feelings out. They can draw their own pictures or talk about the pictures in the book.

There is a further reading list and Word List for extra learning opportunities.

Everyone occasionally becomes angry, and this book provides lovely resources for anyone (i.e., everyone) who occasionally feels this confusing but natural emotion. I appreciate how thing book did not demonize anger / tell kids that it's terrible to be angry. Anger in all its forms—annoyance, vexation, and true fury—are all valid emotions, and kids should learn that it's okay to be angry sometimes! Still, this book makes it clear that BEING ANGRY IS NOT AN EXCUSE TO HURT OTHER PEOPLE, which is an important clarification and something many adults could use as well. An excellent emotional resource, but probably only for children ages 4 to 6. I would guess that any child older would find this book below their level.

I also love the cover. I adore it. That child is an icon. An absolute icon. 10/10, would recommend.

Thank you, Mary Lindeen and NetGalley!

A wonderful resource for school, classroom, and personal libraries! Anger is identified and explained with examples and suggestions for how to manage the feeling. There is no shame associated with anger, but there is also the firm admonition that anger never justifies hurting others. I think that strikes a nice balance in allowing emotions to just "be" while also stressing that one is accountable for one's behavior.

The accompanying pictures will be helpful in reinforcing recognizing emotions in others, as well as sparking more in-depth conversations.

The extra material at the end (reading suggestions, discussions questions, lists of sight and comprehension words) is a thoughtful bonus that only makes this a more valuable teaching tool.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
