What fun I had reading this book!
It's definitely one of those holiday movies that you see at Xmas (I don't have Hallmark), and it absolutely follows the formula of main character thrown into a situation in which they are lying/hiding, makes situation worse - often romantically, the truth comes out, people initially react poorly, lessons are learned, but all is well that ends well, but that doesn't detract from this heartwarming tale of twins switching places at Christmas.
The book is well written, the characters are relatable and fun to get to know, and the story keeps you turning the pages to find out just how well it all ends. It's light hearted and fun, and was just what I needed.
Perfect for the holidays, or any time when you need a lighthearted read.

The Holiday Swap is a Christmas-themed story about a set of 28 year old identical twins, Charlie and Cass Goodwin, who decide to swap places when Charlie ends up with a concussion on the set of her L.A. based reality baking show leaving her without sense of taste or smell. Cass is responsible for her family-owned bakery while her parents are on vacation while trying to navigate ending her long-term relationship.

The story is told in each twin’s perspective and really shows the ins and outs of each’s life. I loved reading about both twin’s and found each of their characters to be relatable and well-written. The supporting characters were also relatable and interesting.

The plot is light with aspects of humour and romance. An easy holiday-themed read. I loved how the drama of each twin’s lives culminated into a beautiful ending!

Definitely an enjoyable read!

The Holiday Swap was a fun, sweet and wholesome story of two identical twin sisters who switched places when one of them needed help over the Christmas season. They end up helping each other in ways they never dreamed of, but with (sometimes literal) bumps along the way!
I really enjoyed the characters and seeing how the story was revolved.
Highly recommend!

"Magic happens at Christmas."

I think magic happened with this book; what a delightful read this was. From the first few pages, I felt like I was wrapped in a great big hug. It gave you a feeling of home and family with a little bit of wittiness and fun. It was beyond adorable and at times, I truly felt like I was reading the next Hallmark movie. I absolutely loved it.

It had all the right feels for a classic great Christmas story: love, laughter, family, baking, traditions, and a little bit of ruckus thrown into the mix to keep things entertaining.

So when the snow starts to fly this upcoming season I highly suggest you grab a hot cup of cocoa with your favorite warm and fuzzies and settle into a quiet corner and dive into this lovely read. I promise it will bring a smile to your face and joy to your heart.

Thank you, NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for my gifted ARC copy. What a lovely read that was!

I wanted to love The Holiday Swap. I really, really did. The cover is adorable and the premise had me thinking it was one of those books that was basically written for me. Unfortunately, this book fell flat for me. As I was reading, I kept hoping for more - more character development, more depth, more festive fun, more chemistry, just MORE. I didn’t connect with any of the characters and I felt like there was too much emphasis on the sisters pretending to be each other and trying to keep up the ruse rather than us getting to know THEM. I’m sure this will be a popular one this holiday season, but it just didn’t work for me.

Thinking about this book makes my heart happy. It’s reminiscent of a warm cup of tea, your favourite Christmas baking and a feel-good holiday movie. Everyone who enjoys a Hallmark/Netflix Christmas special should be sure to curl up with this one - it’s really good!

Charlie and Cass are identical twins who switch places in the days leading up to Christmas. In the beginning, I worried when they seemed to be making silly mistakes after their swap, that the story could be too ridiculous and surface level but their growth felt realistic and they were both likeable characters. I enjoyed that this book was set around Christmas, but wasn’t corny or over the top. The pacing of the romance was fantastic (closed door) and the romantic interests were both *chefs kiss*

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!

Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox

Thank you, NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book.
This is a perfect Christmas read to enjoy year-round! A tale of a set of twins doing a swap to aid one in a time of crisis makes the reader route for their success'. Following Cass and Charlie’s navigation during the busy holiday season made this a cozy read. I really hope this is turned into a movie.

Love that two of my favorite writers collaborated on this book. i will impatiently wait for the next one by Maggie Knox.

The Holiday Swap

Going to tie this right up with a bow as a gift for all you hallmark movie lovers.
It's all the feels of a holiday book with the fun of "The Parent Trap".

Charlie and Cass are identical twins who find themselves swapping lives without telling anyone. Charlie leaves the lights of LA to take over the family business in a small town (think Gilmore Girls).....while Cass uses the switch to escape an ex who just can't get the picture. Cue fun and romance as they both realize that perhaps where they thought the direction of their lives may go, is quite a bit different.

Too cute. It was the perfect book cleanser for me <3 love that it is a dual author thing (Marisa Stapley & Karma Brown) as I only just recently realized that it happens in the book world. Had no idea it was a thing!

The book was a solid 3.5 stars. It started a bit slow but once you get the point of the switch, it becomes quite addicting. I've read a lot of Christmas fiction and I found with this one, Christmas was more of a backdrop and the real story is on the lives of the twins which was a nice change since most typical Christmas novels can be too sickly sweet. It was a fast read and better than expected

The Holiday Swap follows two identical twins, Charlie and Cassie, who switch lives to help each other out in the days leading up to Christmas.

After Charlie gets hit on the head during a freak accident at work, her concussion causes her to lose her sense of taste and smell - something she desperately needs as a chef and judge for a reality show, she convinces her sister to trade places with her like they used to do as kids. Despite the chaos Cass is dealing with in her own life - between running the family bakery during the busiest time of the year and dealing with her ex who just won't take the hint, she agrees to the swap. Mix in a gorgeous, dimpled physician's assistant named Miguel and a sexy, rugged firefighter named Jake and you've got yourself a recipe for disaster. Or maybe this is exactly what these twins need to "fix" their lives.

This was such an interesting premise, I've watched movies like this (think It Takes Two or The Parent Trap or The Princess Switch), but I've never read a book with this story line. Each of the main characters were so well written that you couldn't help but love them. Even the less-than-likeable characters were well written (I'm looking at you Austin and Brett)!

The pacing of this novel was great - I never once felt bored or felt that scenes were rushed through. Speaking of which! On a side note here - I loved all the descriptions for food. Oh my gosh, everything sounded so good! Ahem And uh.. the dual POV for each sister was on point!

This book was such an easy read, I can definitely see it being the next go-to holiday romance for 2021. Rated 4/5 stars.

I have now read four Christmas books this year already and this is one of my favourites so far. I loved how it dealt with relationships, romantic and sisterly. Twins Charlie and Cass decide to switch lives over ten days at Christmas and I love this trope. Don't we all wish at some time or another to be able to switch up with people...even if for a little while?

This book was very sweet and entertaining, it was really funny in parts yet totally loveable. The two main characters were so well written and they felt like real life sisters, the type that would do anything for each other...people I would be friends with. It's the best kind of book for a cold winters night, with a piece of fruitcake (Yes! I like fruitcake!) and a cuppa. Highly recommend for Hallmark movie lovers everywhere. And the cover will be an adorable addition to any shelf!

I think author Jennifer Robson said it best when she described this sweet read as “Great British Bakeoff meets Gilmore Girls.”

All I want for Christmas is…a different life. WHAT?!

With the final season of their cooking show ‘Sweet & Salty’ wrapping up and now filming a twelve-days-to-Christmas countdown competition, it’s no wonder she wants a different life! It's not easy having twelve amateur bakers who are vying for the top spot and a prize of $25,000 on the set. Charlotte (Charlie) Goodwin has been co-hosting a network reality baking show with her culinary school nemesis and Rob Lowe lookalike, Austin Nash. It’s been stressful working with the salty half of the duo and now it’s the last chance to impress network executives and secure a new job for next season. As day two of filming the high-stakes competition comes to a close, an on-set accident has the potential to ruin Charlie’s career. Charlie has the answer – her twin sister!

Cass runs the family bakery and agrees to change places with her sister – just like they did when they were young. Sounds easy. It isn’t. Especially when boyfriends, ex-boyfriends and love interests are involved. Will this be a recipe for disaster? Can they convince everyone involved? Their careers are riding on it.

This hilarious, quick read has all the holiday feels. Not only is it engaging as readers want to know if the twins will get caught, but it’s also a twofer – two holiday romances in one! Although it’s a romcom, the narrative has some depth to it and the authors gently steer their readers to examine their happiness. Along with the characters, readers are led to question if they are living the life they imagined and, if not, if there’s a way to fix it before it’s too late. Cass and Charlie discover that putting a priority on their own happiness and achieving their own goals is essential and it should not have been placed on the backburner. Now they must find out if the men are interested in the right twin or the stand-in!

The Holiday Swap really is twice the fun and double the trouble and should top your holiday reads this season.

Congratulations on your collaboration, Karma Brown and Marissa Stapley! It's got all the right ingredients for a winner.

A fun holiday read for those that enjoy Christmas romances. I found that it lagged a bit in the middle, but only for a few, short chapters. A fun Hallmark-style book.

The Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox (Karma Brown and Marissa Stapley) is the perfect easy holiday read! Twin sisters Charlie, a chef on a reality baking show and Cass, who lives in the twins hometown running the family’s bakery, end up secretly trading places following Charlie suffering a concussion. The dual storyline going back and forth between the sisters was enjoyable and each had a great storyline.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for an ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review.

Romance books surrounding Christmas are my guilty pleasure. This book brought not only romance times two, but also humor. The storyline of twins swapping places was well thought out allowing the characters to slip up often while regaining their balance as required. Very enjoyable.
