Although I don’t often read these light romantic books I thought I’d give it a try as we approach the Holiday Season. It was a delightful book that I honestly enjoyed.

A very sweet holiday romance brought to you by two Canadian authors. Fine holiday fun! It follows two twin sisters who couldn't be more different. You've got small town versus big city, simple versus fancy. But after an untimely accident, the twins decide to do what they havn't done since childhood and switch places. They decide to take over each other's lives for a week...should be pretty easy right!? Wrong! Throw in some challenging coworkers, bakery mishaps, snowstorms, a cat rescue and of course two dream men and you've got a story!

This one had the makings of a Hallmark movie and was all sweet, no steam. The romance was very clean so if you like steam, be warned that you won't find it here. It was mildly predictable at times, but it didn't take away from my enjoyment. I'm a fan of Hallmark movies, Christmas cheer and happily ever afters and that's what this book gave me. Thoroughly enjoyed and recommend!

The Holiday Swap - a lovely, sweet, holiday romance about 2 twin sisters who decide to swap places before the holidays.

I really enjoyed this story. It was a light, easy read which was perfect and exactly what I was hoping for. Cass and Charlie are both likeable characters, and while fairly implausible that two adult twins would be able to swap places and live each other's lives without people realizing it, the story was still thoroughly enjoyable.

I enjoyed the romance element of the story, and both the male characters were ones you'd hope to meet in real life.

The story flowed nicely with each chapter alternating between the sisters and moved at just the right pace.

I feel this story would be perfect for a Hallmark movie. It was sweet, light, and perfect for the holidays.

I really hope these writers collaborate again, the story worked well and you never would have known it wasn't written by one person.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. As always, all opinions are my own.

Just call me the grinch, because I did not enjoy this book!
This book was so extremely frustrating. It was way too fluffy for me l, completely unbelievable and full of so many “issues” that could have been resolved immediately.

The Holiday Swap is about twin sisters Charlie and Cass. Charlie is the costar of a baking show in LA, while Cass works at the family bakery in their hometown.

During the shoot of a Christmas special, Charlie gets hit in the head and suffers a concussion which leaves her unable to to smell and taste. She knows this make her unable to host her show, and since she’s vying for sole host of the next baking show being filmed, she asks Cass to take her place as host without anyone knowing.
Cass is happy to help as she’s just ended a 10 year relationship and needs some space.

They take over the lives of each other without telling anyone and try and achieve the others goals. During this time, they both meet men they’re interested in while pretending they’re someone else.

Let me get into why I didn’t like this book. Charlie was the absolute worst. She’s desperate for this job, but completely hangs her sister out to dry multiple times. It’s also Charlie’s idea to switch places, but immediately acts like she doesn’t know anyone and is constantly forgetting she’s pretending to be her sister.
The authors try and justify all this by blaming the concussion, but com on.

It also didn’t make sense to me why they didn’t tell Jake what was going on. Why would anyone from their hometown care they switched? They lied to everyone and it was bananas.

Cass also jumped from a 10 year relationship into a new relationship in like 2 days which was just insane to me.
They were incredibly selfish people. Brett was made out to be some Ubervillain when all he tried to do was make Cass happy. She never talked to him about what she was feeling but everything was his fault. The authors also made it out like he was some horrible person because he didn’t want a 10 year relationship to end without even a real, adult conversation.
Charlie was mad he seemed “shocked” when he thought the woman he loved and proposed to, kissed someone else like 5 days after they broke up.

I also found it curious that absolutely no one thought maybe one looked a BIT different than the other. Not even a boyfriend of 10 years who saw both of them MANY times. The twins say they haven’t seen much of each other over the last year, but still have the exact same hair, etc with not one attribute the teeniest bit different?

Ugggh this book drove me absolutely crazy. Obviously with a lot of romcoms, you need to suspend reality a bit, but this one was just way too much for me. It was all completely implausible.

I don’t usually like fluffy romance, but thought I would enjoy this as I am a sucker for all things Christmas. However, this was barely a Christmas book. It just happened to take place near Christmas.

This was NOT a book for me, however seeing all the rave reviews for this one, I’m in the minority. If you don’t like light romances, I would steer clear of this one!! 2/5 stars (it’s not a one star just because the food sounded amazing and I enjoyed that 😂)

I loved this book! The characters of Cass and Charlie were very relatable and there were areas where I laughed out loud, got angry at Austin and just had a fun holiday read. I will definitely recommend this book to all my family and friends this holiday season!

A sweet holiday story and I loved the set up. I am also always intrigued by books about twins and I love the Parent Trap trope. I have also discovered that I love romances where baking is involved and have read quite a few of them this year.

I really enjoyed seeing both sisters discover what truly makes them happy and I thought this book was perfectly Christmasy. The issue I had was just how forgiving both of the male leads were. The sisters lied about their identities and it all wrapped up too quickly. I still had a lot of fun with it though!

Perfect for fans of Hallmark movies and The Princess Switch on Netflix!

This book was such a cute, light hearted, holiday read! It would make the perfect Hallmark movie!

It’s a quick read with likeable characters and cute love stories. The story is told from two POVs going back and forth between Charlie and Cass. I enjoyed most the story wasn’t just based around romantic relationships, it had a great story about family and friends as well and showed the effect of what lies can do.

Overall, it’s such a heartwarming story and I definitely recommend this if your in the mood for that king of holiday read!

I received this book from NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada in exchange for a honest review.

The Holiday Swap was the weirdest mix of frustrating and amazing. This novel follows twin sisters, Charlie and Cass. Charlie is a famous pastry chef turned reality TV judge in LA and Cass runs the family bakery back in their small town. When Charlie ends up injured and unable to smell or taste anything she begs Cass to change places with her and of course antics ensue.

This novel counts down to Christmas day and is filled with Christmas cheer and snowy days and so it was exactly what I was looking for when I picked up this book. The love interests in the book are amazing and really unique characters, but this novel just had me so frustrated at times, I understand there weren't certain people the girls couldn't tell about their switch but lying to the person you're falling in love with.. ick. These scenes, and anyone where they messed up trying to be their sister made me have to set down the book and take a moment away and so it took me a little longer to read than normal, but overall the story really was amazing and sweet and if you liked the Princess Switch movie then check this out! One more thing, the end of the novel felt a little jumbled and fast, but that may also have been the eARC i was reading as it didn't have very good spacing.

Twins, Cass and Charlie Goodwin live opposite lives. Cass runs the family bakery in their small hometown while Charlie is the star of a baking show in LA. When Charlie suffers a concussion on set and loses her sense of taste and smell, she asks her twin to switch places for a week. It’s something they always did as kids, how complicated can it get?

I really like the premise of this book with them switching places. I liked the pace of the book and the flow of the story. It was very predictable, like any other contemporary romance. It was a nice, easy holiday read. Definitely recommend if you like romance and the holidays!

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Canada for the e-ARC!

This was cute, and you really have to appreciate the pretty seamless transition between twin sisters - just different enough to keep you invested, but similar enough to have surprised me when I found out that Maggie Knox was a pseudonym for a Canadian writer duo! Very Hallmark Christmas movie, which is the point, but not exactly my personal favourite when it comes to romance content. In all, it was enjoyable a simply cute and there will be a ton of people out there that will just eat it right up!!!

Loved this book!
If you are a fan of Christmas Hallmark movies then this is the book for you!Just curl up in a blanket with some hot chocolate and you are set! Loved the characters, especially the sisters.

This reminded me of the Christmas movie The Holiday with Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz... but with twins. So maybe Parent Trap/The Holiday remix? Either way, I loved it!

I absolutely love picking up cute Christmas reads in preparation for the holidays, and this one did not disappoint. Was it at times unrealistic and predictable? Yes. Did that matter because the characters were so lovable and charming? Not at all.

Atmospheric and sweet, this book is perfect for curling up with a hot mug of hot chocolate while carols play and the snow falls outside...getting ready for Christmas.

The Holiday Swap is like if The Holiday was crossed with the Great Canadian Baking Show. After identical twin Charlie suffers a concussion while filming a reality baking shown LA, she swaps places with her sister, Cass, who is in charge of their family's bakery back in their small home town. This book takes all the staples of a classic Hallmark/Netflix Christmas movie and combines them with decadent holiday treats. You've got small town girl in a big city and big city girl back in her home town. Hot firefighter and hot doctor love interests. A little bit of mistaken identity. Competing for a work promotion. If you like these tropes and these cheesy, fun, happy Christmas movies you will probably enjoy this book a lot.

For me, I had two main issues with the story that prevented me from enjoying it more. The first was that there was really no reason why each of the twins couldn't just tell their prospective love interests the truth about the swap. And the second was that the two twins had pretty much the exact same personality. I think one of them was supposed to be more outspoken and the other one was supposed to be more timid, but they both came across as kind of timid until the end. So they basically had the same character arc just in different settings. Overall the story felt pretty bland and it's not because I'm not a fan of cheesy holiday romance stories. While they may not be my number one genre, there are some Hallmark Christmas movies I really enjoy because they're super cute or they have fun banter, but this book was just missing that.

This was a really fun holiday read about identical twins who swap lives right before Christmas. I have to admit that the whole time I was reading this, I pictured this as a Hallmark Christmas movie! Someone seriously needs to present this to Hallmark because it would make a perfect movie.

Cute Christmas read that made me feel like I was watching a Hallmark Christmas movie! Seriously, the switcheroo, the baking, the romance, I mean come on, it’s just screaming “make me into a movie!”

Charlie and Cass are identical twins with very different lives in the baking industry. Charlie is Hollywood and Cass is small town but when Charlie has an accident on set and needs her sisters help, they hatch a plan to swap lives and help each other out. Things get complicated really fast for both sisters as they realize there is a lot they don’t know about each other’s lives, especially some very cute men!

3.5 stars from me.

This was my very first time reading a holiday themed novel and it did not disappoint. The story follows twins Cass and Charlie as they swap lives during the holidays and must live in each others very different shoes. Cass runs her family's bakery in Starlight Peak while Charlie lives in LA and is one of the stars of a reality baking show. When an accident on set hinders Charlie's ability to taste and smell, she enlists Cass to take her place and finish the show. This book is funny, cute and cozy, just what I imagined it would be! Just make sure to have some snacks/dessert handy because this book made me crave desserts. Definitely a must read if you're in the holiday spirit!

My first holiday read of the season 🎁 and it couldn’t have been better!!

The description is originally what drew me in, but it was the characters & story that made me LOVE IT 🤍🤍🤍

Both Charlie & Cass were fun, & they were exactly what I expected from close knit sisters! The concept of swapping places was done so well & I didn’t have trouble keeping up with the changing chapters ✨I found myself laughing along whenever one of the sisters found themselves in a sticky situation 😂 And the food in this book sounded so good! There should be a recipe book attached to the back 📚

Overall, this was a quick, easy read that’ll definitely brighten your day 🥰 and it was the perfect start to the holiday season 🎄 The Holiday Swap is out now!
