I have been a long time fan of fantasy/time travel and of Armstrong herself. I love the dichotomy of Rosalind's world(s). She has to balance the life she left with the life she was thrust into. She applies her present day knowledge to past life when she returns to her husband and son.
I liked the idea of her "covert" entry into their lives because she did not know what had happened in four long years.
The fact that her son was able to see ghosts was a nice twist to the storyline.
All in all, it was a great edition to the Stitch in Time series.
Thanks to Netgalley for this ARC. Opinions expressed are entirely my own.

A Twist of Fate is the second book in the Stitch in Time series and it was an excellent read! The descriptions and world-building is breath taking and has a haunting and sadly beautiful quality about it. After four years Rosalind finds her way home to try to repair her life torn asunder. But her manor is haunted and is not glad to have her home. She also desperately struggles to break through the walls of her bitter husband and her fragile lonely son after so many years of her absence. Simply fantastic storyline and characters. I absolutely loved it! Can live truly conquer all? Grab this book and find out ! Truly gripping book!

This time-traveling-mystery-romance, set in the world of A Stitch in Time, is every bit as charming. In the first book, a door through time allowed 21st Century Bronwyn and 19th Century William to fall in love and build a life together. William’s best friend, August Courtenay, has suffered a double loss. First his sister, drowned in the pond on the family estate. And then his beautiful wife, Rosalind, who went riding along the ocean cliffs one night and never returned, leaving her husband to raise their infant son alone.

Rosalind did not perish, as everyone believes. On an impulse, she rode out to William and Bronwyn’s home and stumbled through the time portal. For the past four years, she’s been marooned in the present time, learning new skills while she desperately searches for a way to return.

Now she’s back.

Matters are not so simple as a happy reunion. First, she has to explain her absence to her possessive husband. After the death of his sister, he’s likely to think she abandoned him. Has he remarried? Is he happy in a new life? Rosalind decides to investigate before showing up on his doorstep and through a twist of fate, ends up as her young son’s new governess. Not only that, but her son is one of the few people who can see the ghosts that haunt the mansion, a gift of his mother’s “Second Sight.” Who—or what—are the ghosts after?

Rosalind’s first-person voice is engaging and emotionally urgent. I loved all the ways she had adapted to modern life and then took those skills and empowerment back to the past. Her fierce, unwavering devotion to her son was pitch perfect. On the minus side, I had trouble with how much she dithered about telling August who she was under her convincing disguise. Like other readers who are not primarily romance fans, I find the misunderstandings created by the lack of a simple, direct conversation frustrating, although they are common to the genre. To Rosalind’s credit, she is in many other ways a resourceful character. One of the high points of the story came near the very end, when she confronts her husband with his pathological abandonment issues and informs him that he will have to work through them.

If you, like me, loved Bronwyn and William’s story, you’ll want to grab this one, too!

I enjoy Kelley Armstrong's writing, and this foray into a new genre was good. I thought the way the suspense builds, and how the main character balances both worlds. Again, a good read, and a well told story.

I have really loved this series so far. It is a great mix of gothic romance, mystery, and time travel. I am really looking forward to reading more books in this series.

DNF. I really liked the premise but the writing did not work for me at all. It wouldn't be fair to the book if I finished reading and gave it a low rating.

Kelley Armstrong is such a gifted writer, and her books have that delightful gothic tone to it- the dark, heavy creepiness that captures the reader. This book has loads of gothic overtones, undertones, any kind of tones…it permeates the story.

This book has a great device of the heroine caught in a time travel trap, and she doesn’t get back for four years. Then it has one of my not-so-favorite devices—her husband doesn’t recognize her. Sure, she wore a disguise, but still. The rest is a book full of crazy gothic fun.

I liked, but did not love A Stitch in Time, and this one even less. The premise was awesome, and definitely perfect as an October read, but the execution fell kinda flat?

Time Travel books have always been a favorite of mine and I totally devoured Kelley Armstrong's latest which is book 2 in A Stitch in Time series. I just adored Rosalind and August's story and was so happy to also have the Christmas-time novella Snowstorms and Sleigh Bells to read right after finishing A Twist of Fate. There is a lot of adventure and a little mystery as well and it's all just great fun! The only thing I am lamenting is that I have to wait almost a year for Miranda's story in book 3 A Turn of the Tide!

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

This is the second book in the Stitch in Time series. I liked it. It was not quite as good as the first book but it was close. Rosalind is married to August and they have an infant son. August is an almost perfect man but is very insecure. She loves her husband completely but is having to deal with his anxiety. She is worried he will be jealous because she took off her wedding ring and left it when she helped his best friend’s cook make some dough. She sneaks over in the middle of the night to get her ring back had suddenly falls 170 years into the future. She tries everything to get back and finally succeeds four years later. She wants to go to her husband immediately but worries that he might have remarried and her son may have a new step-mother so in a twist of fate she ends up working as her sons governess until she can figure out a way to explain her absence. There are mysterious happenings, hauntings and intrigue. When the ghost sightings seem to be putting her son in danger, Rosalind must discover the culprit and put an end to it to protect her family. I liked it and thought it was a bit anticlimactic in spots but I think it was a good story. I’m looking forward to the next in this series. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

You absolutely cannot go wrong investing your reading time and budget in a Kelley Armstrong book.

Strong, resilient, intelligent women who conquer life, society and love. Great world building and attention to detail that helps you totally believe the story Kelley Armstrong weaves for your pleasure! Worth reading and rereading.

Kelley did it again. This book was great. Rosie is badass like all the female characters that this author writes. She is a Victorian lady who has to adapt to life in the 21st century for years until she can find her way back home. Wonderful twist throughout the book and the ending was great.

It was an okay follow up. I loved A Stitch in Time and was super excited for Rosalind's story, but it didn't suck me in like the first one did. It wasn't bad but also wasn't really what I was expecting either.

All Rosalind Courtney wanted to do was to fetch her wedding ring from the kitchen in his brother's house, where she had been baking with the housekeeper, so she sneaks out of the house at the crack of dawn and rides to the mansion. Her husband, August, is jealous of her, although he has no cause. Instead of returning before he wakes, she falls into the future. This is especially wrenching since she leaves behind her very young son. Fortunately for Rosalind, she has some knowledge of the future and the possibility of time travel since her husband's brother and his wife have also traveled in time. They are currently in the future also.

When Rosalind finally finds a way back to her own time, she doesn't know what will have occurred in her absence. For all she knows, her husband may have remarried and had more children. She decides that the best thing to do is to enter the household as a stranger. She comes back in disguise as her son's governess and is relieved that only four years have passed. She mourns those lost years as only a mother can - missing his first steps, his first words. I admired Rosalind a lot. She showed a lot of grit, determination, and courage.

She finds August somber and reserved, and he doesn't recognize her at all. Much of the book focuses on sudden disappearances of some of the household staff, their ghosts, near-fatal accidents, and Rosalind's investigations of these occurrences. She can see the ghosts and feel their presence.

This is the second book in the series. I would recommend reading the first book before reading this one.

I received a review copy of this book from the publisher Subterranean Press via Netgalley. It was a pleasure to read and review it.

When I received the ARC of this book I was so excited! I love Kelley Armstrong and have read almost all of her books. Then I saw it was book #2- oh no! Luckily I was able to get a copy of A Stitch in Time at my library so that I wasn’t reading these books out of order. The basis for these characters time travel is set up in the first novel so I’m really glad I was able to quickly read that book so I knew all of the characters, and past history needed to read this novel. Truthfully, I probably could have done without but I like to read books in order and I do think it helped my feelings towards the characters, knowing their past history.

What I love the most about this series is the fact that these books are historical mysteries, have a bit of fantasy thrown in with the time travel, and ultimately that they’re love stories. In a Twist of Fate, Rosalind had a head on her shoulders! Her character used lived in the future for four years helping her evolve from a modern woman in her century to an evolved woman from the 21st century and use that knowledge upon her return. She has read up on medicine and understands germs, etc. but is by no means a nurse or a doctor. She just has more sense. Overall she was easy to relate to, Rosalind had a lot of fortitude, was fun, and when danger comes Edmund’s way, she was a mama bear and very protective. She also very much loved her husband August.

Kelley Armstrong has a great sense of fun, and uses fantasy, to enmesh her readers in familiar worlds which are slightly different. This ghostly mystery was quick and entertaining but it was also really well written and engaging. I can’t find any faults at all other than that I hope this isn’t the end of the series because I want to read more!

❤️❤️❤️❤️❣️

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley for my honest review and it was honest.

Look, just color me obsessed with an unexplained time warp, I guess, because this was just as good as A Stitch in Time and I really feel like I could spend time with this cast of characters for ages. I have no idea where things will go from here, if the series will continue, but if it does, I am on board. Anyway, basically, Rosalind sees William in the present and realizes she can actually return to her time in the past. Since she's been desperately missing her son and husband, she immediately goes to try and figure out how to return to the right time and then to find them. Figuring out how best to do so is it's own thing separate and apart from just making it back and it's fascinating.

Basically, we know from A Stitch in Time that Rosalind's husband thinks that either she died or she ran off and left him on purpose. What we learn very early on in A Twist of Fate is that Rosalind felt like she had to sneak out of her home because she had taken her wedding ring off to bake something and forgot to put it back on, which would make August furious. So, there's this really fascinating byplay throughout this book of Rosalind and August both having grown separately and eventually needing to address that particular issue. But meanwhile, there's a ghost (ghosts?) haunting the Earl's estate and talking to Rosalind and August's son. This book has immaculate vibes and I was very into it.

If you want your time travel situation to be explained, it will not be. If you want your ghosts to make sense though, I do feel like you get that! I really loved this one and would definitely recommend.

Ahoy there me mateys!  I received this fantasy eARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.  So here be me honest musings . . .

The cover drew me in and three things convinced me to read this book:

1. I love Kelley Armstrong!  I discovered her through her young adult book, sea of shadows, and she became me most read author of 2016;
2. It is a Subterranean Press book and they do great work; and
3. This is the second book in the a stitch in time series.

This book was much better than the first!  This story follows Rosalind, who accidentally enters the time slip and lands in the 21st century leaving her husband and son in the past.  When she gets back to the past, she finds out that everyone believes she is dead.  Fate takes a hand by getting her a job as a governess to her son.  How can she convince her family that she is back especially when ghosts are afoot and someone wants the governess dead?

The first book's relationship problems could have been solved with some honest communication. I am glad there was less of that in book two. Both books require some heavy suspension of disbelief.  I was annoyed that how Rosalind survives her many years in the 21st century are skipped over.  I also thought how threads of the plot tied together in the end were hasty stitched together.

Overall though, I focused on the story being a silly fun melodrama with ghosts and let it be light entertainment.  I did enjoy the relationship between Rosalind and her son.  I enjoyed watching the husband realize his mistakes.  It was a fun read for halloween.

Happy Halloween!  Arrr!

So lastly . . .

Thank you Subterranean Press!

Loved reading the mesmerizing and spellbinding paranormal romance story. When Rosalind travels through time and discovers herself in the future, she continuously tries to get back to her husband and infant son. After four years, Rosalind finally travels back to her time, but she doesn't know if her husband has remarried or not, what he thought happened to her, so she becomes her son's governess. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a riveting story capturing the reader's attention from the first page of the story until the last page of the story.
I reviewed a copy of the story through NetGalley.

I thoroughly enjoyed A Stitch in Time, so I couldn't wait to read this! You can read either story as a standalone but I think they're better together and in order. This story is solely from Rosalind's point of view and (in my mind) I read the whole story in a rushed voice — in a good, but thrilling way. After all, Rosalind accidentally gets sucked into the 21st Century and trapped for 4 years, unable to get back to her husband and son. She's a survivor, though! The story focuses on her desperate attempts to get back to her time and reunite with her family... and then how she breaks the news to them. I'm on the fence about whether or not I wanted to read more about her time in the 21st Century because all I wanted was to read about that moment when she faces August (her husband) again in their time. So I think the amount that was included was enough. There are some parts where they joke about stories or things that happen in the future and those bits filled up that gap for me.

Compared to A Stitch in Time, this story focuses less on the world building and how the time stitch works. The romance is also less steamy although Rosalind & August are clearly not shy. I think I just wanted them to interact more... This is considered a gothic romance novel and I think it's my new favorite genre to dive into. Overall, I enjoyed it and recommend it if you like romance, historical, mystery, ghosts and — of course — time travel. It's a good fall read.
