Serve N Protect, the fifth book in the Federal K-9 series by Tee Fallon, is by far the most moving one in the series in terms of recognizing the desire/need for emotional expression but being unable to express it. Along with the suspense and emotional strain of two puzzling murder attempt mysteries, the pages nearly turned themselves (and not nearly fast enough) as I delved deeper and deeper into the story.

With strong characters, the bond between family, friends, and partners (human and K-9)/co-workers, and perfectly timed humor (providing a break from tension) the story evolved into one that will not be easily forgotten.

This ARC book was complimentary…provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

This book was just so good. I just didn’t want it to end. I just fell in love with these characters and getting to go along on their journey. I can’t wait to read more wonderful stories from this author.

I loved their story. Ghost sounds like an amazing and beautiful k-9. I have wondered why Markus had the pain in his eyes/so serious in the other books and now with his story we know. The Morgan’s are a wonderful family and Cassidy has been through the ringer. Part of the bad guy equation was fairly predictable, but it was a fascinating journey to get to the HEA and was filled with a lot of action, sarcasm, friendship and love!

So much love for this one! Now I need to read the others! I don’t know what it was about the story but the further I got into it the more I just really became addicted to it. One of the favorite characters in this book is Ghost, the K-9. The addition of this crazy, sweet animalistic character just brings the story to a whole other level. Serve ‘N’ Protect is an endearing book loaded with care, concern, steam, passion, and even a bit of zaniness which develops into a romantic suspense I could not get enough of.

Great read! Lots of action! When Cassidy sets about putting her life back together after a wreck that nearly took her leg, and being dumped by her fiancé, she comes to the side of her neighbors friend. Ohhh and what a friend! Yum!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

Markus is a Secret Service agent (K-9 division) on leave, or better yet, hiding out and recovering after a severe and almost deadly injury at his friend's house, along with his dog Ghost. Unable to being idle, but unfit to go back to work and find his attacker due to his injury, he decides to make some repair to his friend's property to thank him, but something goes wrong and his wounds reopen. He manages to not bleed out only thanks to his neighbour, Cassidy, a freelance accountant and a survivor from a terrible car accident that left her walking with a cane. Attracted by the frantic barking of Markus' dog, Ghost, finds her neighbour bleeding on the floor and unconscious and saves his life, by taking him to the hospital.
Cassidy finds herself agreeing to check in and keep an eye on Markus, making sure he does not exert himself in order to recover from his injury and the two are forced to spend a lot of time together. After some resistance, Markus begrudgingly accepts her help and they start to get to know each other and feelings start to blossom. But it's really when someone breaks into her home in the middle of the night and ends up attacking her that Markus starts to realize that his feelings might be deeper than he thinks and makes her safety priority number one above his own recovery.

I've read Serve 'n' Protect in only a couple of sittings. The writing style is easy to follow and the characters are extremely easy to love and to root for, expecially Cassidy, with all she went through.

I would recommend Serve 'N' Protect to anyone looking for a:
- forced proximity trope
- slow burn romance
- strong heroine with a disability
- tortured hero
- animal familiar/companion
- sweet HEA

Truly enjoyed this story. Marcus is recovering at a friends house, after being left for dead from his injuries working to protest Diplomatic guests at the White House. Marcus was severely stabbed by someone for reasons he is not sure. His partner that was killed the same night with the same weapon.

Marcus finds himself flat on on the floor in a pool of blood - having taken two pain pills before trying to change alight blub in the safe house ( his friend's house). The woman that rescues him is beautiful and surprisingly strong to boot.

Cassidy just recently started working independently as a CPA, after she was seriously injured in a car accident a year ago. She is interrupted by a barking dog next door - she looks to investigate the noise. What appears to her is a large white German Shepard that appears to want her to follow him to the house next-door. What she finds is a broken window and a man passed out on the floor in a pool of blood. .She thinks fast and attempts to call 911 - only to be told by the injured man to not call them - that someone would then know where he is and try to finish the job of killing him.

Cassidy agrees to not call 911 - but insists that they go to the emergency room to have his wound re-stitched. Once he is stitched up - he attempts to sneak out with the help of Cassidy. The employee parking lot is the only exit that is not besieged with reporters - attempting to get a picture of the actress being treated there for a broken toe. As Cassidy and Marcus attempt to sneak out - they are shot at by someone. Marcus thinks fast and slams Cassidy down in the car - while he jumps behind the wheel to get them out of there.

When they get back to the safe house she is surprised to find black SUVs parked all around the houses in the neighborhood. She assists Marcus into the house and finds that the persons are all law enforcement - CIA / Secret Service / Homeland Security and several other branches of law enforcement.

Cassidy is hired to care for Marcus - to keep him from doing more damage to his injury. What follows is a romance that neither are looking for. Each will have to find inner strength to face their fears.

Great story within story. Caught the bad accounting clue early but the other story was SO sweet a so well handle does that is WAS easy to wait for that part of the storyline to catch up. Another great thing I always appreciate is that her characters Always call for backup. Tee stays true to her training.

I've loved every book in this series - I think the dogs always kick my ratings up at least a 1/2 star! Markus is hiding out at a friends home while he recovers from a severe injury. He meets his neighbor after he falls off a ladder - trying to do too much too soon and tears open his stitches. HIs neighbor, freelance accountant Cassidy, is recovering from a bad car accident that left her with pain and a hard time getting around. What neither he or Cassidy expects is the connection between the two of them - or the repeated attempts on Cassidy's life.

The relationship between Cassidy and Markus is really sweet - and the mystery did keep me engaged. The real star - as always - was Ghost the K9.

Overall - this series has been great and I highly recommend all the books!

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.

Serve 'N' Protect is an enjoyable story. That although slow to draw me in did soon catch my attention thanks to characters who had plenty about them and were likable too. Not to mention a mystery that was easy to read and one I didn't really have to think hard about and it helped that Markus' K-9 Ghost was completely page grabbing.

As for the romance it was balanced well with the two mysteries and overall this was a very pleasant readable story that fans of the series I'm sure will enjoy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cassidy recovering from injuries of her own, finds a man hurt and in need of major help by the help of a dog. While Investigating what all the noise was, found an injured Markus. After learning he’s a secret service agent, both try and find the person responsible for this crime. This was my first book by this author. Even though this part of a series and this isn’t the first book, I felt I didn’t need to read any previous to understand what the story was about. The true star of the book is Ghost the K9! This character was written beautifully.

I liked the heroine, I found her mentally strong in spite of what happened to her (she almost lost her legs in a car accident and her fiancé left her while she still was in the hospital). She doesn’t wallow in self-pity, even if she understandably has some down moments because of the scars and the handicap, but she does her max to live as normally as possible. She’s kind, with a good heart, and she tries to handle things alone as much as possible in spite of her very loving and very present family.

Markus is a quite typical romantic suspense hero: loyal, determined, strong, and emotionally closed. His father was abusive, so he’s sure he won’t be able to love anyone ever. He doesn’t even have a real relationship with his sister, so the Christmas dinner with Cassidy’s family, that he lives live a troubling and slightly disturbing experience, is quite funny to read. He has a strong link with his dog, and we also can see his soft side when he refuses to let the heroine defines herself through her handicap and he decides to help her get back in shape.

Their story is what is called a slow-burn romance, which is a romance that develops slowly, unlike what we usually see in mot romantic suspense. It doesn’t prevent us to have some well written sensual scenes, before the hero screws up the relationship at a moment because of his prejudice about himself. Even if it makes me sigh just thinking again about it, it was so predictable…

The main secondary character is Ghost the dog. Of course Ghost isn’t at the center of the couple, but has an important place and lots of interaction with both characters that highlight them and show certain elements of their personality. We don’t see much of Cassidy’s (big) family and Markus’ friends and colleagues, so this book is a bit like a closed session, but that allows to focus on the couple.

In spite of the physical state of the main characters, the suspense is still quite present, even if the romance takes the most important place in the book. There are several attacks on one or the other heroes, and seeing the context I guessed soon enough who was behind some of them and why.

All in all it’s a likeable romantic suspense we can read easily, and I recommend it to people who like when the suspense doesn’t take the entire place. I liked the author’s style and I’ll look into the other books in the series.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

What a fun book as Markus tries to hard to stay hidden while dodging attempts on his life and then throw in Cassidy with her own issues and who can leave out Ghost!

There is plenty of action and drama as Cassidy helps Markus out after an injury that causes the tough guy to pass out. Good thing his K9 partner is looking out for him!

As you read along, you can see plenty of clues as to who is being targeted and why but it takes Cassidy and Markus longer to follow the clues as his background situation kind of throws them off.

How can you not love Cassidy who has struggled to overcome her disability and the fiance who ditched her because he did not want a wife in a wheelchair. Markus had a rough upbringing and that is the only reason for me to give him a pass when confronted with someone who loves him.

Great HEA and enjoyed the book!

This is book number five in the Serve ‘N’ Protect series by Tee O’Fallon, and it is just as good as the others! This story follows Markus and his K9 partner, Ghost. Markus is recovering from an injury on the job and needs assistance from his neighbor, Cassidy. Cassidy then becomes involved in the mystery surrounding who attacked Markus and he has his hands full trying to keep both of them safe while also figuring out who is behind the attacks.

I have really enjoyed this series! This book has a great blend of suspense and a little bit of romance as well. It starts out strong, which is how I prefer books to start out, right in the thick of the mystery. The characters are well developed and the storyline keeps you on your toes.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

First let me just say that while this is a part of a series and prior characters make multiple appearances, you don't have to read the prior ones to enjoy this story.

This story is full of action and suspense that kept me glued to my e-reader. This story just kept coming up with some intriguing action that had me guessing (incorrectly I might say) as to who was behind the attacks!

Combine two wounded and scarred (mentally and physically) protagonists and a wonderful K-9 Ghost and you have a story that should not be missed. Markus York is a Secret Service agent that was recently wounded and left for dead. He and his K-9, Ghost, are laying low while recovering from his wounds. After Markus falls off a ladder, Ghost goes next door for help. There Cassidy Morgan is recovering from her wounds from a year ago.

These two are the perfect protagonists as they aren't perfect. I just adored both of them and seeing the hurdles that the author kept throwing at them and how they were going to over come them.

If you love a suspense filled romance with a swoon-worthy alpha male and a heart filled with gold female who doesn't give up, then this is for you! Also let's don't forget Ghost!!!!!

This is a very sexy read in some parts.

Oh boy, well I do love a good police and K9 duo, in my romance and this one hit the spot. This is a multiple perspective, police romance. It follows Cassidy, who is trying to get back on her feet after surviving a horrible accident and losing her Fiancée shortly after. Not to mention the bills that are stacking up, she needs to make some money. An unexpected opportunity arises, when she comes to the rescue of her mysterious new neighbor. Markus is hiding out and trying to heal after he was brutally attacked, but instead becomes restless and has a bad fall trying to fix a light bulb. His K9 partner, Ghost, jumps into action in search of help and finds their next door neighbor Cassidy. Together they help each other heal both physically and mental, at the same time stay hidden and find out exactly who tried to have Markus killed. I loved the dog, Ghost in this story, he was ever present throughout, loyal, and protective of both main characters. The writing was great, the pacing of the action, heart felt movements, and spicy scenes were an excellent combination that made for a story you just could not put down. I liked how there was representation of disability in the romance, both struggling and trying to heal in different ways and they both supported each other. Most of the cop romances that I have read, they end up just trying to protect and rescue the love interest, so I did really enjoy the different take and Markus needed just as much help and support from Cassidy. The development of the characters as well as their dynamic together , just worked for me and the development of their relationship and the build up to the spicy bits was right on the money. It happened gradually and the scenes were well written. I would highly recommend checking this book out, it was a great time.
Trigger warning: murder, weapons, blood

Serve ‘N’ Protect is the fifth title in the Federal K-9 series, but if you have not yet had the fun of reading the earlier books (which I do recommend) then you can completely enjoy Markus, Cassidy, and Ghost without hesitation as a standalone – but I’m betting you’ll go back for the others.

I was easily drawn into Cassidy and Markus’ story and, frankly, didn’t leave the book until it was done. Sometimes a story just grabs me and I need to know what happens without a break. You, too? Then this one is definitely one that doesn’t easily let go.

Markus is in hiding from the man who would see him dead in a heartbeat, hiding in plain sight with his devoted K-9, Ghost. But being a stubborn man, Markus tries to take on just a bit too much and pays for that decision by reopening his wounds to the point of passing out. Leave it to Ghost to come to the rescue by bringing Cassidy to help one stubborn man. Cassidy is facing her own challenges from a car accident earlier this year, so helping Markus isn’t the easiest thing she’s done lately but she’s also one stubborn, determined lady so help this stranger she will… but she’ll have answers as well.

I enjoyed Serve ‘N’ Protect so much. Without giving away spoilers, it’s a story full of danger, and finding that person who is perfect for you when you least expected them or when it was dangerous for them to be around you. It’s also a story that is realistic without a lot of drama to deal with as well as the danger to Markus and Cassidy. The suspense part will keep you on your toes, and the romance will capture your heart. And if Ghost doesn’t own your heart, body, and soul by the story’s ending… then you are not a dog person. Ghost is as much of a main character as Cassidy and Markus are and I adore that pup. Actually, I’m in awe of any protection dog or service dog – they give so much to us humans, sometimes even their lives.

If you love a really good romantic suspense with believable situations, realistic characters, and a storyline that will keep you flipping pages, then Serve ‘N’ Protect should be on your need-to-read list.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

I was drawn to this book because of that gorgeous dog on the cover! Tee O'Fallon is a new-to-me author and the cover made me want to check it out.

Cassidy lives alone, recovering from a devastating accident and a broken heart, when the dog next door comes to get her. Even though she's not able to move around very well, she still follows the dog and finds a man on the floor. He's in bad shape and she ends up taking him to the hospital. Turns out he's a secret service agent.

It takes a bit, but Cassidy is brought up to speed with why there is a secret service agent living next door and she agrees to take care of Markus as he recovers. Well, one thing leads to another and Markus and Cassidy form a bond in spite of their own reservations.

There weren't any big surprises in this, but that was okay. I really just liked these characters and stay engaged in the book because of that and the crisp pace as things progressed. And really Ghost is the star here, I just loved how easily the dog was part of the story.

So overall, I liked this story. While it was predictable and the conflicts easily resolved, it made up for it with some nice action sequences, a romantic story and some great characters. I would definitely read more from this author.
