External Scars may be easier to heal from than inner scars

This is the fifth book in Tee O'Fallon's Federal K-9 series of interconnected standalones. Books don't need to be read in order and are true standalones.

I love that the service dogs are an additional character in these books. Ghost in Serve 'N' Protect is absolutely adorable and courageous. His interactions with Cassidy, and even Markus, not only endears him to the reader but also helps showcase the MCs personality.

While Cassidy has physical scars from an accident a year earlier and is just putting the end of her relationship behind her, Markus is recuperating from an attempt on his life and is not interested in any relationship due to his childhood emotional scars. Cassidy is warm and caring, with a good dose of done-to-earth. Markus is more guarded and it was fun reading about the interactions these characters have.

The book is a slow burn romance. The suspense elements were good, but I did think that some angles should have been explored earlier in the story. As such, elements around Markus was resolved almost too quickly without a better build-up, and those related to Cassidy was too drawn out and became boring.

I received an advanced reader's copy of Serve 'N' Protect by Tee O'Fallon from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was already familiar with Tee O'Fallon from previous books in this series (which I enjoyed as well) so I had high hopes for Serve 'N' Protect. Happily, I was not disappointed!

Overall, I enjoyed this novel and I found it to be very well written. The romantic start for the primary characters, U.S. Secret Service K-9 Officer Markus York and accountant Cassidy Morgan, began with a bark when Ghost, Markus’ K-9 partner, sought help for Markus from Cassidy. That fateful action begins a fast paced plot with intrigue and action, plus cameo appearances from previous, much liked, characters.

I liked the well-crafted characters, the witty banter, the adorable dog hero, and the chemistry of Markus and Cassidy.

All in all, a fun read from an author I will continue to follow!

When Cassidy hobbled next door to save her neighbor's guest she had no idea how crazy her life was about to get. When Marcus fell off the ladder and his next door neighbor showed up to help he didn't know how important she would become.

Read for a very cute, sweet and scary story.

Another great story in Ms. O'Fallon's series! Cassidy is living in what was her dream home before her relationship crumbled leaving her mired in debt from her fixer upper and medical bills she incurred from an accident. She is trying to get her business off the ground when literally a huge white dog frantically shows up at her door barking non-stop. Marcus aka Alex is hiding out next door trying to heal up from an injury and stay under the radar, unfortunately he doesn't understanding the part about taking it easy very well. Serve 'N" Protect was a really enjoyable story, it had mystery, drama, excitement, and humor throughout the story.

I really enjoyed both Cassidy and Marcus along with each of their own backstories and what they have had to deal with alone. Great story all around.

I love the partnership between man and dog that served as the backdrop for such a sweet and steamy romance. Cassidy was such a strong female character and she was a total badass in her way. Ghost and Marcus were my favorite K9 partners to date and was fabulous that Cassidy came to his rescue in the very beginning.

Tee is back with a great story! All the pieces clicked together for me and I could not put this one down! It is a story I was even thinking about after the last page was read! What I love about this series is you can read them truly as stand-alone stories. These two truly deserved their happy ending! Kade is next up and I can't wait!

Very enjoyable, with great, relatable characters and a dog amazingly well written, “Serve ‘N’ Protect”, by Tee O’Fallon (Entangled Publishing), balances romance and suspense while allowing the protagonists to grow and evolve.
Beyond the usual tropes and stereotypes of the genre, there’s a loveliness about watching a large, strong, muscled and very stoic man falling for a down-to-earth, independent, generous heroine that makes this story such a pleasurable read.
With a strong, powerful beginning and characters lively portrayed, the story also shows realistically the effects of both protagonists’ serious wounds and injuries.
Ghost is such a wonderful dog character, so beautiful and true to life in its canine, very special personality and relationship and interactions with Markus and then Cassidy.
I loved the writing style, how this was a slow burn romance despite the instant attraction; and sex happens only in the second half of the story. The characters and their personalities were also so very interesting and engaging.
Seeing the silent, guarded, damaged hero open up to the vibrant, affectionate heroine is fun and heartwarming.
In the suspense part, I thought that in real life some angles would have been thought of and explored earlier.

Serve 'N' Protect is an exciting addition to the Federal K9 series but can be read standalone. Two mysteries and a love story in one hair raising adventure. Markus is a smart if emotionally stunted U.S. Secret Service K-9 Officer recovering from an injury with his K9 partner Ghost. Cassidy is a freelance CPA recovering from her own injuries both physical and emotional. These characters are both a hot mess but they are perfect for each other. This book had me on the edge of my seat flipping pages and sighing with relief at the end. Personally, I think Ghost steals the show on more than one occasion.

This book wasn't half bad. The storyline was predictable and the characters were dumb in my opinion. I knew who done it fairly early on. The chemistry was good and who doest love a story with a pooch.

This was a great book! The characters both had their own issues. Markus, who grew up with an abusive father and Cassidy who was left by her fiancée due to a horrendous accident. It kept me going from the beginning as I was really able to feel what Markus and Cassidy was going through. For me, this book had it all...a great plot, great characters and romance. I couldn't ask for more! This was the first book I read from this author and it certainly didn't disappoint.

This was my first military style romance and my first book by Tee O’Fallon and I loved. This book was paced and well written, the romance between Markus and Cassidy was fantastic and ghost the dog was adorable. What I also liked about this book was that you didn’t need to read the rest of the series before you read this book which as a person who hasn’t read any of the previous books in this series I found really nice. I highly recommend this book to people who are fans of this genre of romance

In general, I have a rule that I don't read books with dogs on the cover, but I really couldn't get past the description of the book because it seemed to have everything I love. So I decided to risk it and pick it up, and I'm glad I did!

This was a pretty typical romantic suspense story, with some plot twists taking me by surprise (though others were pretty obvious) and an enjoyable group of characters! I really enjoyed the relationship between Cassidy and Markus, and Ghost of course! But I would have liked to see a little less repetitive introspection (we get it, Markus, you have dad issues) and a little more comradery between all the guys, since the found family/team dynamic is one of my favorite parts of books like this.

There were a few grammar/tense issues as if it had started in the first person and got changed over to third at one point, and that strange wording pulled me out of the story whenever it happened. There was also one part of the plot that didn't quite sit with me. Regarding Cassidy's injury, I really do appreciate that Markus wanted to help her, but with certain phrases and things they said, I found myself asking at times, is this ableist? And I think if you even have to ask yourself that question, it means it likely is. I don't think it was intentional, it's just something I noticed and want to point out, just in case anyone else reads and gets those feelings!

All in all though, I'm glad I read it and I have a feeling a lot of people will enjoy this one!

What a thrilling suspense story! Serve 'N' Protect by Tee O'Fallon is well-written, has very likable characters and best of all has a huge K-9 presence. There's plenty of action to keep the reader's attention. I liked how the relationship between the two main characters, CPA Cassidy Morgan and Secret Service K-9 Officer Markus York developed slowly enough to be realistic. Markus' K-9 partner Ghost added so much to this storyline. I have really enjoyed this series so far. This book is a great addition to the series.

Serve "N" Protect by Tee O'Fallon this is the fifth book in the authors Federal K-9 Unit series and I loved this story because each book gets better and better. This is Markus York with his K-9 partner Ghost and Cassidy Morgan's story. However in each book the dog always steals the story with how they play matchmaker between the couples.

Cassidy Morgan is a freelance accountant is recovering from a severe car accident that damaged her leg and needs to finish an audit for Mr. Teedle who keeps dodging her calls for the rest of his paperwork. She's interrupted by Ghost who's trying to get help for his handler who's fallen. Since Markus is recovering from a knife wound Cass takes over his care after his boss offers a lot of money to make sure his stays out of the public view while he recovers. But after she's burgled and then attacked both Markus and Ghost will be protecting her while he finds out why he was attacked and who wants Cassidy dead and why?

Markus York had a abusive childhood and doesn't have attachments to other people except his K-9 partner Ghost. But when he's attacked Cassidy's neighbor Jack offers his house in Maryland to recover. He never expects to have her save him when he falls but it's her love of all things Christmas (Think over the top decorating and lots of cookie baking) or to have to save her twice when someone breaks into her house. Could Cassidy actually make his heart heal and be his happily ever after?

Serve ‘N’ Protect by Tee O’Fallon a five-star read you would die to protect. This is number five in the Federal K-9 series, but they can be read as stand-alone, but if you love a good pooch story, you will fall in love with this series. Markus York is a strong man, with a bad past, both in the distant past and also his recent past, for different reasons but still bad. Will he be strong enough to help Cassidy? Or will his partner ghost be the one to save the day? Maybe, Cassidy will be the saviour in the end, you will need to read the story to find out, what I will say is the characters in this story are sublime, they each play a different part, and each part is like a chef’s kiss. Do not miss this amazing story.

Just finished Tee O'Fallon's Serve 'N' Protect, my 3rd read from this series. The story follows Markus, Cassidy, and Ghost as they have to deal with not 1 but 2 baddies. Markus is a Secret Service officer along with his K-9, Ghost who is in hiding after a brutal attack on his life. Cassidy happens to be his neighbor at his hideaway and the two bond while healing and over Ghost. Cassidy is the sunshine to Markus' grump, but she's isn't a ditz. She's strong and protective. She and Markus have their hesitation, ups, and downs, but of course, it all ends with a HEA.

I've enjoyed this series because of the action and the romance. The men love fiercely (once they figure it out) and the K-9s are the bestest boys.

U S secret service agent Markus York us supposed to be resting while recovering from an attack that almost killed him. He and his K9 Ghost have to keep a low profile until his attacker is caught. Unfortunately he's not the type to be able to be idle.
Cassidy Morgan is trying to rebuild her life after an accident that changed her life drastically. She is about to need to draw on even more strength when faced with the trouble that's coming from a new neighbour.
A fabulous, action packed romantic suspense filled with great characters, both human and canine. Ghost is actually the biggest hero of the whole story. A very believable tale with a lot of danger and a little sex.
This is from a great series where each book can be read on it's own.
I loved it.

4 stars for this action-packed story starring Ghost! I've read a couple of other books in this series and enjoyed them. While some of the characters from the others briefly appear here, their story isn't interwoven into this one, so this can definitely be read as a standalone. My favorite part of these books is the K-9 related plot, and the dogs have stole the show in every single one. Sure, Markus and Cassidy are well developed and relatable, likeable characters, but Ghost is the real star of this one. The story is well paced for the most part, though I did find myself getting impatient for Markus and Cassidy to get together, and I wanted Markus to grovel a little more at the end, but that's just my vindictive side rearing its ugly head because I felt protective of Cassidy. ;-) Overall, I think fans of romantic suspense will enjoy this one, and I definitely recommend it.

A sincere thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing/Amara for providing an ARC for review.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
Cassidy has no idea what is going on at her neighbors but once Ghost the dog comes over in a panic she finds one big hunk lying on the floor of her neighbors home.
After that point Cassidy is thrown into a mess with Markus the Secret Service hunk. He is trying to find the person who tried to kill him but when Cassidy also gets threats, they need to stick close to one another and Markus’s protective instincts kick in along with feelings he is unused to.
What a great suspenseful read!4.5 stars

LOVED this book! Markus is a secret service officer recovering from a devastating injury from an attempt on his life. He's hiding at his friend's house until the criminal is caught. Cassidy lives next door to Markus's friend. They meet when Markus's K-9 comes to Cassidy for assistance - thus beginning an uneasy friendship. Along the way, they become closer, even as Cassidy finds herself battling her own potential assassin....

I loved the characters and especially loved how Cassidy has overcome such a challenging backstory. Yet, while Markus's backstory is tragic in a different way, somehow their broken pieces seem to fit together.

This is an engaging story that grabbed my attention from the very first page and kept it until the very end. I found myself turning pages just as quickly as possible as I couldn't wait to see what happened next.

Fans of the genre will love this one and want to put it at the top of their TBR. The author is on my must read authors' list.
