A nice anthology by Various Authors. If you are a fan of any of these authors and enjoy their respective universes, don't miss out on these short stories that help provide just that little bit further of an insight into their protagonists world.

I was a little hesitant to read this book - anthologies aren't always my thing. However, the list of participating authors made me want to give it a try. I had previously read (and enjoyed) books by six of the twelve authors. Some stories were more serious, some a little silly. At the end of the book, I ended up enjoying all but three of the stories. Two authors I hadn't read before and their short stories didn't make me want to change that fact. Unfortunately, .Charlaine Harris didn't seem up to her usual excellent self. Luckily thought, the submissions by Patricia Briggs and Anne Bishop in particular were excellent. With an overall "hit rate" of 9.5/12 (no reader will probably like all the entries in an anthology) I would call this one a winner.

Heroic Hearts is a fun, fantasy anthology of stories about "regular" people doing acts of heroism to save friends, masters, or the world. Many popular fantasy authors are featured including my favorites Jim Butcher and Charlaine Harris. Pick up this book for some light reading and keep in touch with your beloved fantasy characters. This is a quick read and well worth the time. Enjoy! Many thanks to Net Galley for the opportunity to read the ARC.

This was a great collection of short stories. As a fan of Jim Butcher and Patricia Briggs, I knew I had to read this book. Both of their stories were wonderful additions to the worlds they created. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the other entries as well. I now look forward to discovering new worlds and new authors.

Excellent anthology of short stories from some of modern fantasy’s best authors. I liked the unlikely hero theme. Standouts for me were the Butcher, Armstrong, Hearne, Neill, and Briggs stories.

An interesting collection of short stories by some of my favorite authors along with some authors that are new to me. I liked that the stories from authors I’ve read were told from the points of view of characters that are minor in the main storylines. So a fresh voice from a familiar world.

I think it's notoriously hard with anthologies of well known and well loved authors, but this one is an absolute unit of one. It's a solid collection of stories from all well known and loved authors - full disclosure I wanted this for several of the authors in it, and it didn't disappoint.

The only downside is there it makes you want the next book in your favourite series out. Also an added bonus of finding some new authors to pick up!

Heroic Hearts is a mixed bad of stories. I read for the Patricia Briggs story Dating Terrors. It was the only one that absolutely loved, but a great mix of authors.

A solid story collection, as expected. A recommended purchase for collections where the included authors are popular.

Honestly, read this one for the Kelley Armstrong story and it was great. Familiar with all of the authors featured but had never really gotten around to reading them. I know that I missed things jumping into the stories at this point but they were still interesting and I will definitely be going back and starting on some of them from the beginning. Enjoyable and fun.
