I liked this book. It was a fast-paced, high-tension mystery. I was questioning everything all the way through the end of the book. The twists were satisfying.

Thank you so much Netgalley, Sourcebooks Fire and Chelsea Ichaso for allowing me to read this eARC!
This book was full of twists and turns, with every character a possible suspect. I loved how difficult it was to work out the full story, since every character could have played any part in it. The author's choice to use Samantha as our protagonist was a smart decision — Samantha wasn't your typical YA protagonist, and I admired that.
It was fun and a quick read; the writing was succinct and fantastic for the genre.
Despite this, at times I wanted more. More of the dynamics between Piper and Samantha, more about Piper herself -- I felt that (understandably, as we were seeing her from Samantha's POV) we saw only one aspect of Piper, but I wished we could see more of who Piper really was. I thought the few chapters with Piper's POV could help clear it up, but they seemed a little redundant and didn't add much to the story. We didn't learn anything new from them, but it was nice to get a little break from the current timeline whenever one came up.
I would still recommend this book to anyone who loves quick thrillers and YA teenage drama. A solid read!

A riveting unputdownable little thriller about a high-school girl who tries to find out the truth about the day her sister took a fateful fall that left her in a coma. There is a complicated relationship between the two sister. Savannah is a popular girl and a homecoming queen, but she is jealous of her younger sister Piper who is an outstanding student and a teacher's pet. She feels extra guilty because they had a major rift before Piper took a fall and Savannah thinks that her sister tried to take her own life. But she comes to realize that there is foul play involved and is determined to piece together who met her sister on suicide hill and perhaps pushed her off.
The story takes place mostly over a weekend of hiking with the survival club her sister joined. One of the members is probably the culprit because Piper was lured to the cliff by a supposed meeting of the club. A lot is told through flashbacks and almost every member of the club has something to hide.

3.5 stars
I liked this! It was quite a short book, only about 200 hundred pages. I finished it in about 2-3 hours i think. Perfect for my reading challenge!
I love the unreliable narrator trope in this. I also really felt for Savannah, even though she did a bad thing. Being constantly overshadowed by your little sister is awful, and probably fucked up her childhood. The characters were not likeable, really. But they were understandable. I liked Tyler/Alex, but the others kind of annoyed me. Overall, it was an enjoyable read!

A fun read, however it does need some editing.
The story begins basically in the middle of the MC's 'investigation'. We, the readers, are left scrambling and feeling like we're playing catch-up for most of the book. No introductions, no plot unfolding, it's just....plonked us down in it. I didn't like that, although I definitely appreciated the author trying something new.
The rest of the story, while fun and kind of escapist, cuts at odd places. It's hard for me to explain, but the story just needs more exposition. It felt at times like a short story for a creative writing class that was padded out into a novel. I'm sorry for the bad review; I just couldn't give this one higher than 2 stars.

I did not jive with this book at all, I dnf’d it. It read like a fanfiction, clues were stumbled across far to easy with no work and the protagonist accused everyone of hurting her sister. I also couldn’t stand the main character she had zero depth to her. This book wasn’t for me.

I enjoyed reading this book and the suspense of what was going to happen next kept me on the edge of my seat. I thought the ending was a little anticlimactic. The answers seemed to come out of thin air and there wasn’t a final wrap up.

The suspense in this book is good, I really liked the tense relationship between the sisters. I will say that this isn't so much as a thriller an just an unraveling of what happened, at least for me. Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review.

“Dead Girls Can’t Tell Secrets” is a very fast-paced and interesting little thriller, which kept me hooked until the very end.
The book tells the story of two sisters – one, Piper, is in a coma in a hospital bed after what the police is calling a suicide attempt, the other one, Savannah, does not believe the suicide story for a second and is looking for the truth about what happened to her sister.
Almost the entire book happens in flashbacks and about 24 h during which Savannah goes on a hiking trip with her younger sister’s school group where she’s trying to understand who could have had a motive to hurt her sister. Her investigation takes many twists and turns, uncovers unexpected and shocking information, and nearly rocks her world after all sorts of things come out about many people close to her and Piper.
I was pretty excited about finding out the truth and that kept me flipping pages – I read half of the book while killing an hour and a half in a bar in Rome! Almost from the very beginning, I had a theory and at one point in the book it seemed like my theory was going to prove right, which was both satisfying and kind of… disappointing, you know. But no! After a pretty unexpected plot twist, it turned out that I was wrong – not entirely, but still… I always enjoy when the ending of a book surprises me, it’s becomes a burden to have read enough books that sometimes endings just seem very formulaic.
I would recommend this addictive little book to fans of fast-paced whodunnits.

This was a very tense and fast-paced read that had a lot of twists and turns to the plot that kept me guessing until the very end. There is quite a bit of teenage angst and drama in this one along with the mystery of the attempted murder. Savannah's reckless approach to the investigation definitely increased the feeling of tension throughout the book. The ending did take me by surprise and my favorite part was that it kept me guessing until the very end. However, the path to that ending focused a bit too much on the relationships and teen drama along the way. I found it very distracting from the main plotline which was the mystery of who harmed Piper. Overall, I did quite enjoy this quick little read. I was fully invested in finding out about Piper's past and who would want to harm her.

DNF'ed at 35% in.
despite an extremely appealing plotline, the actual writing style and the way the story is told didn't pull me in enough for me to want to pull through it to the end. the plotline and method of delivery just seemed too cliche to really be enjoyable, and i couldn't get through it.

In typical YA fashion, this book takes place in a high school setting, there is some teen drama, frienemies, and….. Survival Club?
Piper has been in a coma for weeks after falling from Suicide Point, which everyone believes is where Piper went to end her life. Her older sister, Savannah, thinks otherwise after finding a note in her sister’s sweater telling her to meet at that spot for a survival club meeting. In hopes of finding out what really happened to her sister, she joins the club in order to start getting some answers.
I thought the plot was engaging with a ton of twists to keep readers engaged! I really liked the whodunit premise, especially when at times, it really thought it could have been anyone. I can honestly say, I didn’t really see the ending coming, so I appreciated the shock I feel like I don’t get enough when it comes to YA thrillers. This was a 3 star read for me, I felt like the execution of the plot could have been a little better. But overall, it was an enjoyable book!

Genre: YA Murder Mystery
TW: mention of suicide, murder.
Rating: 4/5
Piper Sullivan is in coma for the last month. Piper’s elder sister, Savannah Sullivan doesn’t believe that Piper committed suicide. One afternoon when Savannah goes to Piper’s locker to look for her (Piper’s) sweater and found a very uncanny note. Piper was always the ‘perfect’ student, the over-achiever and the daughter her parents would expect her to be. However, Piper’s relation with her sister and her friends wasn’t exactly great around the time she fell. Savannah doesn’t seem to forget about the note she found inside Piper’s locker. She (Savannah) joins the wilderness club to find out by whom that note was and maybe was, the same person who murdered her? Continuing to find clues further, Savannah goes to the point where Piper committed suicide, from a school trip. Savannah still thinks that someone murdered her sister, Piper. Who would do that? And why?
To find this out, read this book which gets published on 5th April 2022!
This was a fun and unputdownable YA mystery book.
Pros:
- Pacing: It was neither too slow nor too fast.
- Writing style of the author: It was in a way that kept my interest throughout the book.
- It was easy to get into.
- Suspense.
Cons:
- The main character got a little infuriating sometimes.
- Some sentences were a little odd.
- More character development and personality would have been nice.
This was just like another young adult mystery book that included teens and murder. Even though the plot was not much different than other mystery books, the twists and turns took me by surprise. This book is definitely one of my favorites and if you’re a fan of murder mysteries, I’d absolutely recommend reading it at least once. After reading Dead Girls Can’t Tell Secrets, I’m excited to read other books (s) by the author.

2 stars ⭐️⭐️
Piper was in a mysterious hiking accident and has been in a coma ever since. Her sister, Savannah, wants to know what happened. To discover the truth, she joins Piper’s wilderness club on their camping trip to the scene of the accident.
I don’t really have much to say about this book, as I didn’t really enjoy it. I skipped around and caught a quick summary of the end to find out what happened.

I am obsessed with this book!!! It reminds me of One of Us is Lying (Karen M. McManus) or Pretty Little Liars (Sara Shepard). You don't know who you can trust throughout the book which is always great for keeping the brain active especially in a YA thriller. The book overall is fast-paced and not that long.
Basically the main plot is that Savannah's sister fell off a cliff about a month ago. Now Savannah is determined to find out if it was actually a suicide attempt or if it was attempted murder. Her solution is to join the wilderness club to find out what they're hiding.

Piper has been in a coma since her hiking accident but her sister, Savannah, isn't so sure it was an accident at all. The group she ventured with all seem to have something to hide and so Savannah decides to first infiltrate their ranks, second discover just what these secrets are, and third plot to avenge her sister after uncovering them.
This proved itself an angsty YA thriller, with an equal focus on teenage drama and murder. The ending definitely took me by surprise and the concluding twists were my favourite part of the story. The journey to get there sometimes focused too closely on the interpersonal relationships of the characters rather than on the surrounding mystery for me, however. I definitely had a fun time whilst reading this though, which was enhanced by the fast-pace and my intrigue over Piper's history.

Dead Girls Can’t Tell Secrets from author Chelsea Ichaso is a decent YA thriller read. It gave me vibes of Pretty Little Liars, so if you’re a fan, this could be a good read for you. I’d give this book about a 3.5 rating.
It was a quick read and featured many twists and turns — most of which I did not see coming. Especially that very last twist at the end of the book! That twist made the entire read worth it.
Keep in mind, this book features high school students and mostly takes place during a camping trip. I actually quite enjoyed the camping trip part as the characters were kind of in the middle of nowhere with terrible cell service. It added to the suspense of what would happen next. I found the main character unreliable….and quite frankly, pretty unlikeable. She kept making a lot of really dumb decisions and I was just wondering when she’d learn from her mistakes…but it didn’t really happen.
Overall, it’s not a bad book for a younger reader trying to get into the YA thriller genre…but definitely not for me.

Dead Girls Can't Tell Secrets is a good YA thriller/mystery and it has a nice Pretty Little Liars vibe to it, when you don't know who should be trusted and you end up suspecting everyone.
Many plot twists, it keeps you hooked from the beginning to the end and it's not a long read.
The mc was a little bit annoying, I couldn't sympathize with her at all to be honest.
But it was fast-paced and since the book was short, it was a good read. Just keep in mind that it's a YA book with a teenager main character playing detective so you know what you can expect. It was a 3.5 stars for me and I'll probably read other books from the author.

Fast paced thriller where everyone has something to hide . Great for younger readers trying to get into the genre will grab their attention from the start.

Book Review: Dead Girls Can’t Tell Secrets – Chelsea Ichaso
Disclaimer: I was gifted an eARC of ‘Dead Girls Can’t Tell Secrets’ by the publisher via Netgally in exchange for an honest review. All the opinions below are my own.
Dead girls can’t tell secrets is a YA mystery/ thriller with a gripping plot. Piper Sullivan fell from Suicide point a month ago and has been in a coma ever since. Some speculate that it wasn’t a fall at all but an intentional jump. Piper’s sister, Savannah has a different theory. She believes that Piper was being threatened and someone had a reason to want her dead. In ‘Dead girls can’t tell secrets we follow Savannah as she goes on a hiking trip to uncover the truth about her sister’s accident.
This book has:
An unreliable narrator.
A camping trip.
A girl in a coma.
A group of friends where nobody can be trusted.
Whodunit trope
This book had so many twists and turns it made my head spin. This has all the elements for the perfect YA thriller. I enjoyed the whole cast of characters and it really made me feel like I was back in high school trying to figure out where I fit in.
The big reveal was so well done. It caught me completely off guard and I never saw it coming. I loved the camping trip element. It made the story a lot more interesting when the characters where a while away from help or even cellphone reception.
Savannah’s character was flawed and relatable, but damn, that girl can make some stupid decisions when she is in hot water. There were many face palm moments related to her character. That being said, it does add to the thrilling aspect of the story and keeps you engaged.
This is a fast-paced page turner that will keep you on your toes. The perfect whodunit YA thriller that you can fly through in one sitting. If you are looking for an action packed read with some questionable characters, then this one is for you!
