Fun, silly and engaging illustrated collection of poems for children, with a similar feel to Dr Seuss.

This book takes me back to the old Shel Silverstein books I read when I was younger. It is chock full of cute silliness in small little poems just perfect for young readers.

I received an ARC, but my opinions are all mine.

What's Wrong with a Pet Dinosaur? by Tony Philips was a really lovely fun book that I loved reading to my nephew. We had great fun reading this book and it was special auntie and nephew moments.

I had to purchase this fun book for him for Christmas. You should of seen his face when he received it! Priceless!
Thanks Tony!

This was a fun collection of laugh inducing poetry! Fun for children and adults who have a nostalgia for Shel Silverstein and other books of rhyme based stories.

Very cute poetry, I will read it to my daughter next, I wanted to make sure it was appropriate for her age as she's very young but I can see her enjoying it.

Such a fun book of poetry for kids. I would say this one is best for preschool to mid elementary ages children. It’s very entertaining and poetry so always fun to introduce to children. Definitely recommend.

A very funny children’s poetry book with black and white drawings.

Silly, hilarious, and even laugh-out-loud funny. Some of my favourite poems are: Treehouse, The last piece of cake, Christmas Resolution, Big, Sticky Fingers, Unicorn for Christmas, Stop following me, Giant footprint, Worst day, Buried treasure, Bubble gum. And The audition poem was the cutest one for me.

The drawings are imaginative, very well done and the perfect complement to the poetry.

Kids will love it, they are the primary target audience and the book is perfect. Get ready to hear a lot of giggles and belly laughs, I promise you. 😊

This book will be release November 9, 2021.

Thank you to the author, Idle Brains Publishing and NetGalley, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book of poetry for younger kids is very well-done - lots of giggle-inspiring rhymes and descriptions, accompanied by simple line drawings that help bring the point home. The kids I read this with loved it, although some of the longer poems were deemed boring, i.e. they took too long to get to the point and the kids lost interest. Overall, a wonderful way to introduce poetry to younger kids, and foster love for expressive, descriptive language.

Sassy and fun. Poems that a kid of all ages will be able to relate to—and the drawings enhanced the giggles that followed each poem. My 5 year old and I haven’t really done poetry, but what a wonderful way to spend a few minutes throughout the day. When bored9m sets in, settle on the couch and read a quick poem…wonderful time outs. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced reader copy in the form of an e-book in exchange for an honest review.

It reminds me a lot of Dr Seuss

This is an illustrated book of silly poems Kids will love it. I did like the illustrations but they needed to be colored illustrations to hold the kids attention

This illustrated poetry book for younger readers is a collection of random observations. Some are more interesting than others. Not being the target audience, I didn't find it hilarious, laugh out loud or good fun.
Hopefully my fun-o-meter isn't broken.

Delightful collection of poems that cover a wide variety of topics. This book reminds me of Silverstein and Prelutsky but Philips puts his own spin on this genre. Readers will enjoy the humor and connect with the joy as they meet characters who look at life in absurd ways.
A terrific addition to elementary school libraries. Great poems to read aloud to classes.

I enjoyed looking through these poems about pets for children

But they do seem a little bit heavy for some young children if I'm honest

There were also pictures that really needed colour to keep a child's attention and to make the book look more attractive

My 5 year old has been begging for a pet so this was a hilarious way to talk about what kind of pets are best for our family as well as the responsibility that comes with a pet.

I think this book was very text heavy for a children’s book. Alongside this, the pictures were not colourful so did not capture or maintain my godchild’s attention.

This is brilliant! It's so very reminiscent of Shel Silverstein, in the very best way. The poems are generally short, clever, and some flavor of funny--wry, ironic, absurd, or even a bit cheeky!

This would be a great addition to elementary classroom, school. and personal libraries. I usually rely on Silverstein as part of our poetry week, but I'm looking forward to trying this for a modern update that might be a bit more relatable for today's students. This kids are going to love it!

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
