The previews in this sampler are all very interesting! I think I will be picking up Right Where I Left You but I'm not sure about the rest. I can't wait until they are released.

I really enjoyed getting to read the samples provided of these books. I had been curious about a couple of them prior to reading. None of the samples were my cup of tea this time, but I'm glad that I got to read the samples and find that out.

It's so great to read samples of new books so you know what's being released and check whether or not you're gonna like it. Can't say that there were any books in these samplers that I'm interested in, but I wouldn't know that if I hadn't read the samplers, so thank for that Penguin Teen!

Thank you for the opportunity to sample these novels. The Bone Spindle is my favorite of this batch. Kiss and Tell also has some intrigue, as well as Hotel Magnifique. Excited to read the full novels.

Lovely books with lots of potential!

THE BONE SPINDLE by Leslie Vedder: With a concept like this, this was already one of my most anticipated releases. The preview was really gripping so I'm only more curious now!

SUNNY G'S SERIES OF RASH DECISIONS by Navdeep Singh Dhillon: I hadn't heard of this one but the preview had such a nice tone already. It just gave me good vibes and it was funny. I don't know if the concept is exactly my thing, but I will still be looking out for it!

HOTEL MAGNIFIQUE by Emily J. Taylor: Can I just say: wow. This was already filled with the most beautiful prose and lots of intrigue. I really felt like I was a part of the story and could therefore see and feel everything. The author is talented without a doubt, so I can't wait to read more!

RIGHT WHERE I LEFT YOU by Julian Winters: I don't think this one is for me, unfortunately.

KISS & TELL by Adib Khorram: This concept had already sold me to be honest (I mean like: "about a boy band star, his first breakup, his first rebound, and what it means to be queer in the public eye") but now I'm even more excited! I need this in my life...

Interesting and gives me insight on their new books. Hope I can get arcs from some of them! I'm not sure what else to add ahah since they were just samplers! I'm sorry!!

So grateful for these samples. Most of the titles I wasn’t aware of but will certainly check out once they are released. Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Teen.

I really enjoyed this Summer Fest Sampler! I admit, I requested it for the two fantasy titles, but I ended up skim-reading pretty much everything! Lots of great voice and humor. My favorites were:

The Bone Spindle: I love Fi and Shane, and I can't wait to see where their adventure goes! I'm a huge fan of fairytale retellings, and this one seems really fun. Definitely top of my TBR!

Hotel Magnifique: I'm completely sold on the concept of a magical, disappearing hotel. Jani has a lot of spunk, and I liked the relationship between sisters, but the teasers of the hotel's magic have me totally hooked. Can't wait to see what's inside!

Kiss and Tell: The voice was really fun, and it was fun to see a story told with interviews, documentary snapshots, and social media too! Plus, LGBT+ band romance, this might be a thing :)

Thanks for the chance to read - I'm so excited for these books!

I really enjoyed reading this sampler of Penguin Teen summer titles! Personally, I’m very excited to read The Bone Spindle, Hotel Magnifique, and Kiss & Tell. I really wanted to see what happened next with Hotel Magnifique! I had not previously heard about Sunny G’s Series of Rash Decisions and Right Where I Left You, but I enjoyed them both! I will definitely be adding these new titles to my TBR and look forward to the release of all of the books. Thank you so much to Penguin Teen and Netgalley for the opportunity to read the Penguin Teen Summer Fest preview sampler!

An excellent sampler of some excellent upcoming books.

The Bone Spindle -- I will definitely be buying this. Right off the bat I love the characters, I love the way the fairy tale is twisted, I love the setting and the plot. It's incredibly real-seeming. Like I could walk into these places and know these people.

Sunny's Series of Rash Decisions -- ok this is hilarious. Definitely much more interested in this than I was five minutes ago. It's the sort of book I might pass up on a shelf but it's just so funny.

Hotel Magnifique -- ooooh mysterious and exciting. I'm so here for this. Buying it for sure.

Right Where I left You -- this looks interesting. I'm not 100% into it yet but I love the fandom aspect. adding it to the list.

Kiss and tell -- ok so this one's instantly on my list because I loved Darius the Great. And this one looks so good too! I'm liking the queer band books lately!

Overall an excellent sampler -- since when do I want to read all the books?? And I'm definitely excited.

*Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Teen for providing this sampler for review

In total I loved this sampler - what a great collection of stories! While I originally only claimed this for two of the five stories I ended up reading 4 out of 5 of the samples and intend on reading all four of them when they’re published fully. I am so glad I read them as it pushed me out of my typical genres I read and I found some different stories and authors I never realized I would like. Below are my brief reviews of the samples I read -

Bone spindle - gripping and interesting, keeps your interest right from the beginning. I love retellings of fairy tales. I wish I didn’t have to wait until January 2022 to read the rest of the story!

Sunny g’s - Skipped the rom com that’s just not a type of book I read - sorry!

Hotel magnifique - reminiscent of caraval I was hooked from the first page .. I wish this came out sooner because I can’t wait to finish the rest of the story!! It seems like it will be fantastic! This makes me wish I could read the book in its entirety now.

Right where I left you - this story seems great. I’m so glad I took the time to read this excerpt and can’t wait to read the rest now that I’ve started it. The sample left off with a cliffhanger so I’m dying to know what happens!

Kiss and tell - I love the openness of this story and the spotlight of an openly gay celebrity. Looking forward to reading the rest !

It’s really cool to be able to read samples of books that are coming out but it also sucks because you have to wait so long for them to come out! I was really excited about the samples for Right Where I Left You by Julian Winters and Kiss and Tell by Adib Khorram. I was hooked with both of these stories! Julian Winters is such an amazing writer geeky/cute/funny characters! And who doesn’t love a story about a boy band, especially one with an openly LGBTQ+ member like in Kiss and Tell!

This was a fun sampler! It contained upcoming Fantasy (The Bone Spindle, Hotel Magnifique) and Contemporary (Sunny G's Series of Rash Decisions, Right Where I Left You, Kiss & Tell) YA releases for 2022.

The fantasy books definitely caught my attention the most. The Bone Spindle is a gender bent Sleeping Beauty meets Indiana Jones. I liked Shane and Fi as main characters and will definitely be picking it up to see where the story goes! I was also really intrigued by Hotel Magnifique, which is about a legendary hotel that appears in a new location every morning. I'm so intrigued by this concept and am excited to read it once it's out!

The other 3 books are a diverse set of contemporaries and look promising as well! Kiss & Tell looks really fun since it's about an openly gay member of a boyband.

Thanks so much to Penguin Teen and Netgalley for the sampler!

I have to be honest, I only requested this preview show because of two titles: Right Where I Left You and Kiss and Tell, two of my most anticipated YA titles for 2022. So, for now, I’m only going to review those two previews.

Right Where I Left You
Julian Winter’s previous books were a bit of a hit or miss for me. I liked his first two YA books, but I couldn’t connect to The Summer of Everything. So I’m very curious about Right Where I Left You!

First of all, that cover is really stunning. I can look at it for hours. Those two boys! I could easily fall in love with them 🥰! And second, I’m so glad Julian wrote this book in first person/present tense. The first three chapters of this story were animated and full of family dynamics. I’d love to read more about Isaac, Diego and Davi, about Isaac’s social anxiety, and his family! After reading those chapters, it’s even more one of my most anticipated reads!

Kiss and Tell
Adib Khorram’s books about Darius are among my most favorite YA books ever. Therefore, I’m looking forward to Kiss and Tell. Again, I want to start with the cover; it’s so incredibly vibrant and I love those colors. When I started reading, I immediately got If This Gets Out vibes, both books start with the adrenaline of a huge concert. And there’s a BTS kind of band, PAR-K. Somehow, Adib immediately sucked me into the story, and I wanted to read on and on about Hunter and Kaivan, but it was over much too soon! This story is so different from the Darius books but Adib’s writing is so good!

I can’t wait to read both books next year, and I really hope I can get an ARCs (slight preference for Kiss and Tell).
