I wish I had this book last year, I have just been made unexpectedly early retired so am working out how to deal with it and am going through all the stages.
I like the way the author talked about the emotional and practical side and it wasnt too american or too financial.
I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

While I applaud the authors for focusing on what they characterize as an holistic approach to retirement I cannot endorse this book for 'most retirees.
First, because its practical financial advice is firmly planted within American financial realities and products (such as particular forms of IRAs.)
Second, because it advice is aimed almost exclusively at members of the upper middle class. The salaries of example 'pre-retirees' and their particular problems (where shall I buy a second vacation home) are well outside the experience and expectation of most Americans today.
Third, the problems faced by many aging Americans of facing old age with meagre pensions and even more meagre assets are never addressed.
So, in sum, a useful book for those Americans .who are looking forward to prosperous retirement after a prosperous working life..
