A well written feel good book with beautiful descriptive writing about the area of Dorset. I enjoyed the cake baking and the diving, loved the Aunt with the chickens and was hoping Olivia would get her happy ending. Although it was obvious what the ending would be, and it did take a long time to get there, I really enjoyed the book

The story
Olivia is a fancy cake baker and sometime actress hoping for her big break. She lives in Weymouth and is close to her aunt Dawn. She recently broke up with her fiancé Tom who decided after ten years together that he didn’t want children after all. She met Phil through acting and they have been together for a few months, although it’s been hard for her to raise the issue of wanting to have a family with him.

My thoughts
I so enjoyed that this story featured a late-thirty-something with a ticking biological clock. It’s hard to talk about these issues even when you are in a long term relationship, and the issues in this story were very relatable for me. Sibling who is pregnant when she didn’t want to be, prioritising career over having children. And at the end what really matters is that there is love and unconditional support. This is a goodie 🥰

Nothing much happens in this family drama/romance set in Dorset. The action centres around Olivia and her relationships, including those with boyfriends, her sister Ruby, her aunt and parents. The drama is mainly low key, so if you want something relaxing to read this could be the one for you.

Thanks to Net Galley and the publishers for the opportunity to review this book.

Another great novel by Della. All of her novels are standalone but some characters from previous books make their way into present novels. Thus time it centres on Phil, the Maitre'D from the Bluebell Hotel.
Olivia has her own cake making business and is trying to make her name as an actress. However her wish is to become a mum. Having been in a previous long term relationship that failed when Tom decides he doesn't want children, Olivia doesn't want to make the same mistake with her relatively new romance with Phil. But does he want the same thing?
As with all Della's books, this one has delightful characters, love, romance, family and fun. A wonderful story. Many thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood books for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review. And special thanks to Della for writing the book and answering all my questions and comments.

I really enjoyed reading this one! I was meant to be on a south coast beach holiday in NSW right now, but of course had to cancel due to our lockdown - this book gave me all the feels and I look forward to reading others by Della Galton. It was a real page-turner for me. Thank you so much!

Thank you for the advanced copy of this in exchange for a review.
This is my first book by this author chosen because I love Dorset so will definitely look for her others.

I loved the book, light hearted, well put together, I especially loved Ruby but the central characters of Olivia and Phil made me feel like this was real.

Highly recommended

Thank you #netgally for letting me read this sweet book.

It follows Olivia Lamberts journey, she is a fabulous cake maker and aspiring actress. Desperate for her big break, but she is even more desperate to be a mum, with her biological clock ticking and her desire to have a baby being the reason why she split with her long term partner and fiance Tom. Tom is a well off salesman, who after over 10 years together decided he no longer wanted kids.
Shortly after the split she meets fellow actor and Maitre D' their casual fling grows stronger by the day, but does he want to be a father?

We also meet Ruby, Olivias' sister and Aunt Dawn who is very much Livs' confidante.

The story takes us on highs and lows, regrets, some sea diving and love in all shapes, sizes and ages.

Sunrise Over Pebble Bay by Della Galton is an excellent contemporary romance that I thoroughly enjoyed.

This is my first book by this author and I will definitely be picking up more from her. I loved it.

I loved the stories of not just Olivia, but also her sister Ruby, her Aunt Dawn, and their family in general. I loved that Olivia was 39. I could relate to her and her questions about life: who is she, what does she want, where does she see herself going? All the questions that really matter.

I loved the growth, the progression, and I just adored Olivia and Phil. They are just perfect together. And the Epilogue was just perfect!!!!

I also loved the visual descriptions of the landscapes, dives, and surroundings. The author has a real talent at describing these subjects. Just beautiful.

5/5 stars
