Working my way through it slowly. Clear instructions set out in a helpful way. Sadly though, with or without the book, I'm never going to be a Hendrix or Clapton.

A great starter book!

Covers your basics for reading music in a way that is accessible to all age levels. It had nice picture guides. I only wish that A) I had a larger, physical copy instead of just my phone, and B) I had more time with it.

This book IS for beginners, so if you have a little bit of experience under your belt, this may be too simplistic for you. I found this book to be better than the previous "For Dummies" books I have tried.

Being an amateur guitar player, this was a very informative and fun book to read. Thanks for the effort, it is appreciated.

It's been years since I last tried to play guitar, and years before that I actually went to guitar lessons. This book made me a little more motivated to play again, though I think getting lessons from a real person in front of me is more helpful for me, since I'm not always so good at focusing on reading, and I learn better when someone tells me what I do right and wrong, because I don't always hear it myself. It might have also been better had I read this as a physical book, and not an ebook. (Also, English is not my native language, so I might have also misunderstood a few things).

I liked that songs/artists were given as examples. I will listen to more to those that were recommended!

This book is a great starter book. It is easy to understand and covers basic music reading in a way that young or old would feel comfortable following. I haven't gone through the whole book yet, but the chapters I have used were pleasant to follow. and my music theory from high school has started coming back. The pictures are clear, concise, and visually appealing. I highly recommend this for new users. Experienced players may find it too simple.

Thank you to NetGalley for the digital advanced copy.

Well I can’t say I play the guitar no! But I do know people who do play it and it’s always very interesting to see people’s perspective on playing the guitar. It’s very exciting and thrilling to read. I loved this book for beginners and of course, know it’ll help me also if I do decide to pick up a guitar in the future! 5 out of 5stars

This is a great book for beginner guitar players. I myself play guitar and while I was reading it I knew exactly what an author wanted to teach me. It is also a bit funny, so I really had fun while I refreshed my guitar playing skills.

I wish I had found this book 20 years ago. I play, on a very basic level, classic guitar. I have wanted to get back to it for years and now that I am retired, I plan om picking it back up again! I think this book might be a good one to get started with! It explains so much that it may well be good for some beginners (everyone learns differently). In my case, it's gentle reminders, intros to things that are new toa me (electronic tuners!), and helps me pick up where I'left off years ago! Kudos, Dan Spencer!

I have been playing guitar for about twenty years. I taught myself with a "for dummies" book. I have recommended that book to many aspiring guitar players. Moving forward this book will be the one I recommend. Technically speaking the two aren't that far apart. I think where this book sets itself apart is in a couple very important areas to me. First it recommends right away that the book should be supplemented with an actual teacher. I could not agree more. It also gives a list of amazing guitar players to check for inspiration. This list is very complete of course Jimi and Eric Clapton on the list, but there are some lesser known players that every guitar player should know. Reading music is based on rules so this book is going to represent it in a way similar to any other book about reading music. I truly appreciate the author's incite. That is what makes this book great.
