The story
Lunden is a single mom to 6 year old Zachary and the mayor of the small Southern town of Honey Hill. As a young teen, her first love was Quade who visited his aunt in the Inn next door. But one year he never returned and broke Lunden’s heart. Years later, Ms Shugga, Quade’s aunt has passed away and left the inn to Quade. When he returns and tells the town he plans to sell the inn, it ruffles a few feathers, mostly Lunden’s. The question is whether she will be able to convince him to keep the inn and stay in Honey Hill?

My thoughts
This cute story of the two former lovers and the various characters in town had me thinking I had stumbled into an episode of Sweet Magnolias 😉 This is a sweet read, but shew it took time for Lunden and Quade to get to grips with their feelings (and lust and more lust) for each other. Lots of angst, lack of communication drew out this story longer than was necessary for me personally.

Something So Sweet by Joy Avery a sweet as honey four-star read. This is such a light-hearted and easy read, its my first by this author, but it won’t be the last, as I enjoyed the story and the characters. They work well together, and you get sucked into the story with them. If you want light and sweet this is the one for you.

This had me all in my feelings and I loooooove it! The Mayor, Quade & Z are soooooo cute together. They work well together as the story takes dips and turns that’ll have you biting your nails and sittin on the edge of your seat.

I was entertained and tickled, I definitely recommend this.

This book was very cute! Towards the end of the book, it actually bought so much emotion to me that I started crying! I really liked how this book was diverse with the characters in it as well. One of the most exciting and emotional books I have read in a while. Would highly recommend this book to someone else.

“‘Don’t do that,’ she said. ‘Don’t backpedal. Own your words. You said them. Own them.’”

The little town of Honey Hill is run by the mayor who is dedicated to not letting the peaceful small town turn into a busy, crowded place. That’s exactly what will happen if she doesn’t stop newly-returned Quade Cannon from selling the inn, which would leave her to deal with the aftermath of his decision. The mayor, Lunden Pierce, has a big heart and she is going to use it to convince Quade to help Honey Hill keep its small-town charm. The honey bees and Quade's decision on the fate of the inn is a recipe for a sticky situation.

I loved how the two main characters had history. The inn is not only important to the historical look of the town but also holds sentimental value to both Lunden and Quade. The last time they were both together in Honey Hill, they were close childhood friends but now they have become (almost) strangers who did not leave off on good terms. This makes the inn the perfect reason to force them both together to work everything out. As it turns out, they have a lot to share before they clear the air. The fellow residents of Honey Hill are a big part of the story as well. Certain scenes show the relationship they all have with each other and it’s so real that you’ll feel like part of the story. Just like in real life, some neighbors will not be as friendly and try to make life harder for others. On the other hand, the neighbors who just want what’s best for everyone will have their warm energy shine through the pages.

Everyone knows everyone’s story. Lunden tries to keep her personal and professional life separate but in a small town, so it's hard to keep them both apart. Although the romance might extend for more than a bit too long, I think the ending was very cute in tying everything together. “Something So Sweet” about this book is that it is not just a love story about two people, it also tells the story of how much these characters love the town they live in.
