This sequel to The Flower Arranger was a bit of a slow burn plot line but still really enjoyable. Set in the scenes of Tokyo you know from the start who did it — like a mystery without the mystery, but the plot brought some sinister turns.

Strange Events Afoot…
Holly Blain and Inspector Tanaka return in this sequel to ‘The Flower Arranger’ and a new killer is seemingly stalking Tokyo. Strange events are afoot and suspected poisonings give the pair cause for consternation but is there something even more sinister lurking behind it all? An intriguing mystery with a well crafted cast and an entertaining, slow burn plotline.

I'm always excited to read a book set in Japan, but maybe because I didn't read the first one (this is the second in what may be a series), this one seemed a little disjointed to me. Also, the death by fugu thing has been done and done now and kind of old hat. Also, thought that maybe some editing would help.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advance copy.

Despite their relationship when taking down the Otaku killer, the unlikely pair find themselves teaming up once more to stop a new murderer who is plaguing Tokyo. I did it read the first book which was my mistake but I enjoyed this one and it read surprisingly well without having read the firstborn

The Fish Club by JJ Ellis. This is a mystery without a mystery. You know who did it from the beginning. Since it is set in Japan, it is interesting from a cultural perspective. This book two in a series so maybe I missed some things by not reading the first book. The ending had some excitement but otherwise it did not really grab me.
Thanks to Netgalley, Agora, and the author.

I had a very hard time reading this book. While I like the storyline I had trouble with the lengthy sentences and lack of editing.
