When I read the previous book with Maisie as a side character, she gave me strong second hand embarrassment and frustration.

But wow, was it different reading from her POV! Maisie has definitely learned her lesson and come out better for it. She is intelligent, strong and self-sufficient. She is refreshingly direct. And she (and the shenanigans she gets into) is hilarious. Loved every minute of it.

Proposing Mischief by Regina Jennings was an enthralling story. Admittedly I wasn’t sure if i was going to like Maisie at first. She seemed a little too untamed but that became her charm. Someone who speaks what they truly mean and deals with a sense of feeling different and belonging.

Boone was a great character and a great match for her. He was too busy to mess with people that were not real and were trying to use him. He was so factual it was funny at times. Like the introduction of the contract.

The cave even because a character of its own. What must it have looked like. And is this how the original finders of the cave felt like. That it was a God made wonder for all to see.

The book had a special meaning to me because of the authors note in the back explaining that she was born in Joplin and the info on the real cave.

I highly recommend this book.

What starts out as a marriage of convenience for country bumpkin Maisie and well to do mine owner Boone turns into so much more as they learn to navigate life and business as partners.

This is fun from the beginning to the end! Maisie and Boone will have you rooting them and laughing at Maisie’s escapades.

I’m eagerly looking forward to book 3 in Regina Jennings latest series that takes place in Joplin, Missouri in the late 1890’s. If you like Jen Turano’s books, you will love Regina’s writing as well.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

Set in Joplin MO in the late 1800's this marriage of convenience had me laughing and wondering just what this couple would get into next! They were so different yet they certainly found ways to be compatible. I enjoyed the mystery surrounding the crystal cave. How it was discovered and how the opening of a grand center seemed to be overcome with minor catastrophes made for such an entertaining story! You can't go wrong with this author! I was gifted a copy through NetGalley. My opinion and review is voluntary.

I totally enjoyed reading this book. Maisie is a complete joy to get to know! I first met her while reading the first book in this series Courting Misfortune. I easily loved her right away, and squealed a little when I saw she was getting her own story. I love her spunk and bluntly honest personality. She somehow finds a way to get into mischief in far too many circumstances. Knowing her, she was going to need a very special man to keep her out of trouble. Booth is that man. Avoiding being attached to a woman has become second nature to him, little does he know being taken might have it’s advantages.

I loved every moment of this adventure with Maisie and Boone. Jennings took me by surprise and I couldn’t stop reading if I wanted to, which I obviously didn’t. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Historical Romance. There was fun mystery and mischief thrown in with just the right amounts. I loved the family dynamics, and hope this isn’t the last we’ll see of the Joplin Chronicles. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers and was in no way forced to post a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Maisie Kentworth is being forced to stay on her parents' ranch. After a short-lived relationship with the wrong man, she's worried about inflaming things further between her former beau and her protective family. Left to rue her mistakes, she keeps busy exploring the idle mine at the edge of their property, where she discovers a great treasure.

Boone Bragg is also stuck. With his parents on vacation, the management of Bragg Mining falls on him, and one of his advisors wants him as a son-in-law. One wrong move, and Boone will end up either offending an associate or marrying a woman he can't endure.

While closing up a spent mine, Boone gets two surprises. One is a spitfire farm girl who's trespassing with a pickax, and the other is the amazing crystal cavern that she's discovered. Suddenly Boone sees a way to overhaul the family business. With part of the cavern on Kentworth land, Boone makes Maisie a proposal that he hopes will solve all of their problems. Instead it throws Joplin into chaos, and it will take all of Maisie's gumption to set things right.

I found this to be a good lighthearted read. Maisie is a down to earth girl who manages to get herself into mischief wherever she goes. She goes exploring and discovers a crystal cavern. Boone finds her there and the fun begins. Boone wants to save his business and the only way he sees to do that is to marry Maisie. Maisie wants to escape her family farm so they make a deal. Along the way they discover that someone is sabotaging the mine so it won't be able to open.

I recommend this to all who enjoy a good light hearted mystery.

I was given this book by Bethany House Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

Sometimes you just need a light and humerous story to unwind with and that’s the type of book that Reginna Jennings provides. A quick read full of the mischief the title promises, I enjoyed the unlikely story of country girl Maisie and distracted businessman Boone. The geode cavern was fascinating and the story endearing.

I was given a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Proposing Mischief is a very entertaining book with a twist of humor. Not saying it is a humorous book as it is not. It has a very serious plot. The main female character, Maisie Kentworth has been grounded to stay within the boundaries of their ranch. Because of her romance with Silas, a man who charmed his way into her heart, then she found out he was a scoundrel with illegitimate children. Her brothers have vowed to protect her from him, so the only way she can leave the ranch is with them. Some would consider her “backwoods” because of her grammar and dress, although she is quite intelligent. Then there is Boone Bragg, who is in charge of the family’s mining business, while his parents are on vacation. The mine is not producing so Boone has decided to sell it. While preparing to sell and trying to escape designing females who are trying to force him into compromising situations, so he will have to marry them, he is in a rather trying position…….then enters Maisie. Hold onto your seats for a very entertaining ride. You will definitely keep reading and enjoying this delightful book. My thanks to the publisher for an early copy and my review is in my own words.

What a fun book! I laughed a lot and it was much needed. Maisie definitely fits the title of the book with mischief! And it’s a marriage of convenience Story. They always interest me. I really liked how they were very honest with each other too. I’m so intrigued by the Crystal Mine. The Kentworth cousins deliver again with a great tale of life in Joplin. Definitely recommend this book. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All views stated are my own.

Maisie is one unforgettable character and the author creates such a fun and boisterous atmosphere to fit her heroine. Maisie is a study in contradictions - full of sass and boldness yet completely naive in the ways of society, uncouth and rough around the edges yet sweet and tender. She’s definitely unexpected for the mine owner Boone who is clueless, obtuse, and awkward in relationships and dealing with emotions. They start out with hang-ups about romance so it’s extra fun to watch them stumble and bumble their way around each other in a marriage of convenience. If you enjoy historical romcom, this book definitely fits the bill.

It’s the second book from the series but can be read as a stand alone. If you’ve already met Calista in the first book, then you’d be happy with the updates on how she is doing with her Matthew.

I received the book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are solely my own.

In Proposing Mischief, spunky and spirited Maisie Kentworth gets paired up with bookish and introverted Boone in a marriage of convenience story that makes you laugh out loud until the very end. Maisie is up to her normal antics with her outspoken and unconventional family, and boy do they get into some mischief! This story does make us love Maisie more as a heroine, since the first book in the Joplin Chronicles series did not show us her most rational and endearing side. The story is actually a bit goofy, but in an adorable and entertaining way that makes for fun, light-hearted reading. I love how Regina Jennings used true history from her hometown of Joplin to make a plotline that is unusual but believable! Who would have thought there was a real crystal cavern that was converted into a tourist attraction at the turn of the century? Only real-life could inspire such a unique plotline, but Regina Jennings took that interesting history and threw in some complex yet lovable characters to create her own wonderful narrative. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a light read with an entertaining cast of characters, and I cannot wait to see what happens next to the Kenworth family of Joplin!

I received a copy of this book from the author for review purposes, but my thoughts are my own. I really did love it!

It is fun when a female historical character is not interested in being a socialite. Maisie grew up on a farm and just wants some freedom. Boone is rich and is trying to stay that way. These two meet in a very unusual way and they join together in an unusual way also. This has laughs and some twists and turns. I did not want to put this book down. I received a copy of this book from the author and Bethany House for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

I loved the first installment from Regina Jennings’ The Joplin Chronicles series, Courting Misfortune, and was excited to have the opportunity to read the next in the series, Proposing Mischief. I was far from being disappointed. It is my new favorite I have read for this year. It was so fun to read that had me laughing from start to finish. The wrestling scene was hilarious. I never knew what Maisie was going to do next , especially when she was with Boone. I. Loved. Every. Page.
I am giving Proposing Mischief a very well deserved five plus stars. I would give it one hundred stars if I could. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean historical romance. I can not wait for the release for the third book from The Joplin Chronicles series. This one should definitely not be missed.
I received a paperback copy of Proposing Mischief from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

I loved Maisie Kentworth in the first book in Regina Jennings’ Joplin Chronicles series, and I adored her even more as the star of Proposing Mischief. She is such a quirky, spunky, fun heroine who usually leaps before she looks and is the perfect match for the sometimes clueless Boone Bragg. I chuckled, snorted, and laughed out loud at these two main characters. Jennings is a master at creating colorful, endearing characters and plopping them down in hilarious situations and places. A fantastic cast of supporting characters makes this a favorite read of this year. I enjoyed returning to Joplin, Missouri and learning more about the history of the area while reading a delightful tale.

With plenty of intrigue, suspense, adventure, and a dash of romance, this story kept me turning pages and smiling. Regina Jennings is a favorite author of mine. Her historical romances are such fun, and I love learning more about little slices of history and geography. I can’t wait to see what the next book in the series brings. This one has earned a spot on my keeper shelf. 4.5 stars

I loved Maisie! She has gumption, determination, and grit, but she also is fun, real, and authentic. She’s the perfect counterpart to Boone and their relationship develops in such a great way in the novel. The story flows very well and kept my attention with ease; indeed, I had a hard time putting the book down. The conversations felt natural and the storyline was entertaining. I also loved how Maisie grew through her insecurities and Boone learned to work as a partner, both changes that evolved gradually and realistically. I have really been enjoying this series and look forward to the next book! I definitely recommend this author.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This is book two in the Joplin Chronicles, even though it is a stand alone book you will miss a lot of history in the Kentworth family and the town of Joplin, plus book one, Courting Misfortune is a great read, if you jump right into this one.
This book we learn more about Maisie Kentworth, she is a fun, spunky farm girl just looking for some freedom. When Boone Bragg, the mine owner who would like his own style of freedom, comes up with a off the cuff plan, things really get exciting. Maisie may have the answers she has been looking for or maybe just created more problems. This book is full of fun, spunky, misunderstanding, mystery, humor and of course romance.
I really enjoyed this entire read and look forward to book three in this series. I love the writing style of Regina Jennings.
If you like historical romance you will love this book. I was given a copy of this book for my honest opinion.

This second book in the Joplin Chronicles series was just as fun and full of adventure and mischief as the first! Due to some poor choices, Maisie is virtually a prisoner on her family ranch. Breaking into a nearby mine to swing a few blows with her axe seems like just the way to relieve some pent up frustration. When her blows reveal an amazing sight, she knows she can't keep it to herself. Throughout the story, Maisie's beauty becomes more apparent as she stands up for those she cares for whatever the cost. She is a fun, lively character who doesn't often know the proper way a lady should behave. She's wonderful!

Boone is so dedicated to making a go of things while his parents are gone that he sometimes misses what is right in front of him...whether it has to do with mining or the beautiful young lady he finds trespassing in his mine. Still he does grow and sees where true beauty and value are found. He's a risk taker. I liked him a lot.

It was fascinating learning about the crystal cave and finding that there was a real one in Joplin. I'm sure it was a sight to behold. I enjoyed seeing the project coming together through the setbacks. There's a little mystery but the highlight of the book for me were the people, especially Maisie. She has a way of putting snooty people in their place. I admit I enjoyed seeing some of the high society people squirm. Maisie is a breath of fresh air in a cloying society. I hope there'll be more about her family in the next book. They stand up for each other.

Thank you to Bethany House for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. I'd recommend it. All opinions are my own.

For never having visited Joplin,MO the author has now made me want to do it. I love to visit places that I think sound fascinating that I've read about in books.
I am sure there are a lot of interesting things to see but what I am interested in is hearing more about the history of the crystal caverns underneath a part of the city. I got this fascinating information from the note in the back of the book.
Now our girl Maisie Kentworth, love her, she is a girl after my own heart. After a disastrous romance her parents force her to stay on the ranch for her own safety. Bored out of her skull she tries to think of a way out of it. Exploring one day she finds an incredible find in an abandoned mining cave and has to tell the man she meets in the cave. Now this just happens to be the mine owner going in to see who has broken into his boarded up cave and he's checking on their safety, that's when he meets Maisie.
Now Maisie is the kind of girl who isn't exactly looking for trouble it just seems to find her. I absolutely love the author's sense of humor in this book, Maisie has to be by favorite character she's ever written about, from an on fire dress to an accidental kick in the face to a marriage of convenience to arm wrestling matches Boone has met his match in Maisie. Is Boone's family and the town of Joplin ready for spitfire Maisie when she'd rather be mucking in the garden digging potatoes than attending board meetings and fancied up with the ladies?
You are going to love this book! Quick read, I just couldn't put it down!

Oh my! I really liked Maisie in Courting Misfortune but she just became a favorite character in this book! I haven’t read a lot of Regina Jennings books but she’s up there with Jen Turano in my eyes. Funny, quirky characters that are interesting and keep you on your toes! I can’t wait to read the next book and catch up on the antics of Calista & Matthew and Maisie & Boone.

I received a complimentary ARC of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.
