The story starts with the gruesome killing of a couple Mark and Stephanie Duran in rural Arkansas. The FBI team from the Behavioral Analysis Unit consisting of Brandon, Jack, Paige and Kelly are called in to investigate. Jack recognizes this as being the work of an elusive serial killer, nicknamed the Leopard, who seems to have been dormant for 15 years.
This time the killer has deviated from his usual patterns. Why is that? Then things get even more personal as the killer changes tactics and leaves them a note.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat!

Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Heart racing moments that keep you in the edge of your seat. This was the first one I’ve read in the series but now plan to start at the beginning.

One More Kill by Carolyn Arnold is billed as a completely unputdownable pulse-pounding serial killer thriller and is book nine in her Brandon Fisher FBI series.

FBI agent, Brandon Fisher is worried about his team leader. Supervisory Special Agent Jack Harper is under duress. His last case went left, and he’s still in hot water with command. The Leopard is a case from his past, and he knows Brandon and the rest of the team are keeping a close eye on him. They can’t let a serial killer remain on the loose.

Carolyn Arnold eventually lives up to the hype, but this book starts a little slowly. Though part of a series, the story reads well as a standalone. Arnold has included enough backstory and detail to bring the reader up to date on Brandon and the team. The plot is interesting with good twists and is brought fully to fruition. The ending is satisfying. Despite the slow beginning, I give One More Kill 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it to readers who enjoy a good psychological thriller.

Carolyn Arnold strikes fear in the reader with ONE MORE KILL! We are immediately pulled into a gruesome crime -- one that has haunted Jack Harper for 15 years. Brandon's voice is a little quieter in this book of the series as the focus seems to be on Jack's struggles with finding the Leopard. The voices flow well from one character to the next, pulling you into their thought process. I often felt like I was sitting shotgun with them as they investigated. Arnold's procedural knowledge is top-notch --very realistic and easy to follow. All throughout the book, I felt a haunting feeling hanging over me with the depth that the crimes of the Leopard were written. It was delicious in the way that I couldn't stop flipping pages until I knew if he would escape the team, leaving death and destruction in his wake. Can't wait for the next book in the series -- hoping to see Brandon and Paige working their way back together!

Book 9 in the Brandon Fisher series and the only one I’ve read. This can be read as a standalone as not much of the storyline relates to what’s happened in previous books. Very much like the tv program Criminal Minds , a good storyline that kept you guessing

This was such a great book. I wasn't aware that it was part of a series when I requested it, but it read fine as a stand alone. The premise was great, the writing was well, and I enjoyed the character development. I will definitely check out more books by this author. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for an ARC.

One More Kill is the 9th novel in the Brandon Fisher FBI Series by Carolyn Arnold. Special Agent Fisher is assigned the case of a couple who are found dead in the woods near their home, and he realizes that it is similar to a case that Supervisory Special Agent Jack Harper investigated many years ago. These new murders are just like work of a brutal serial killer who calls himself The Leopard. Apparently this killer hunts his prey like an animal and when he pounces, there is much blood. Harper is familiar with other instances in other states, and the FBI team travels to those states to get the information they need to catch this killer.

One of the interesting things about this series is that Fisher, who is the protagonist, isn’t usually where the focus is on in the story. While Arnold is an excellent storyteller, in this novel the focus seems to be on Jack Harper, and Brandon Fisher plays a secondary role. Nevertheless, Arnold does a good job of developing her characters, and makes them believable and real. The story is suspenseful and there are surprising twists and turns while the FBI agents find ways to solve this baffling case.

Arnold’s writing style is very reader-friendly, and this novel is one that may be classified as “unputdownable.” There is enough to keep any thriller reader’s interest all the way through to the dénouement. Arnold includes enough information to read it as a standalone novel, but most readers will want to familiarize themselves with the characters beforehand and read the previous novels. This is a good series to follow.

I wanted to like this one more than I did. 🤷🏻‍♀️ For the positives...this is book 9 in this series, but stood up well as a standalone. It was a quick and easy read with a plot that pretty much mirrored a Criminal Minds episode. Most of the characters were okay, apart from Jack, who I couldn't stand. There was also a nice little twist at the end I didn't see coming. A decent book, just not one that blew me away.

The reader becomes engaged in the process as the team develops alternate theories and learns how the killer operates. I look forward to future novels in this series.

One More Kill by Carolyn Arnold is the 10th book in the Brandon Fraser, FBI series. I have to start this review saying that this is the first book of this series I am reading. In spite of that, I had a great time reading this book, to say the least. The author has given sufficient background information for any person to catch up with the people and the earlier events in the series.

Now, talking about the other aspects of the book, it is a fine crime procedural - so much so that, I felt like I have watched a real- life crime investigation unfold in front of my eyes. While reading about the author, I discovered that many law enforcement officials have hailed her books for being very close to the reality. I am not surprised; the author truly deserves the praises that come her way.

This story follows a team of FBI agents belonging to the Behavioral Analysis Unit, shortly called the BAU, as anyone who has watched the show, The Criminal Minds, will be aware. This story follows the agents when they try to catch the person who is behind a series of killings that have been spaced apart many years, after a recent killing resembles his MO. They all try their best to find the killer while overcoming all the personal and professional issues they have to face.

I particularly loved the way the author has created the characters and given them all equal space while moving the story forward with each and every one of them. She has also paced the story in such a way that we are with the agents and feel what they feel, when they are scared, angry, in despair and all the other gamut of emotions they must go through when they try to find and catch very dangerous and/or twisted criminals. The reader will definitely get an appreciation for the type of dedication it will take to do this over and over again. I couldn't recommend this book enough for anyone who loves to read well-written crime procedurals that bring you to the edge of your seat and won't allow you to stop reading.

The bodies of a husband and wife, shot with arrows, gutted, and left to bleed out, were found in rural Arkansas. Their eyes had also been removed and replaced with large cat’s-eye marbles. FBI Special Agent Brandon Fisher, Supervisory Special Agent Jack Harper and the rest of the team from the Behavioural Analysis Unit out of Quantico Virginia head for Arkansas to begin the hunt for a serial killer dubbed the Leopard. This is Book 9 in a series and, although I haven't read any of the other books, this one stood on its own very well. Obviously there's some history between the various team members but I didn't really feel out of the loop.

This was a well-written police procedural that I liked well enough but didn't love. None of the characters stood out to me except maybe Jack and I didn't really like him. For some reason I felt a jolt every time the point of view switched from a 3rd person view to a 1st person view voiced by Brandon. Most reviewers rated the book pretty highly, but it just wasn't for me. There are some fairly graphic passages to do with the killer's modus operandi so be prepared if you're on the queasy side. I also feel the need to comment on the number of times it was mentioned that Jack was craving a cigarette or lighting one up (26 for those keeping score!) and smoking in a vehicle with one or more passengers should be a definite no-no. It just seemed very unusual in this day and age and contributed absolutely nothing to the story. I quit smoking 4 years ago and I was totally craving a cigarette by about the 20th mention!! Then suddenly, at about 75%, the most tense part of the book, no more mention of cigarettes. As I said, the book was well written and I'd probably read something else by this author, just not this series.

I want to start out by saying I have not read the previous books in this series….though I plan on reading them very soon! With that said, I had no issue reading One More Kill as a standalone read.
One More Kill was definitely full of twists and turns! The FBI team with Supervisory Special Agent Jack Harper as the lead are on the hunt for a sadistic, cunning serial killer. How many will die before the killer is caught?
Carolyn Arnold writes a terrific crime procedural fiction that I highly recommend.

I must admit, I was expecting an engaging read, but this grabbed me and never let go. A warning to other readers: if you're a bit squeamish, there are some vivid scenes in this book. The characters had a great depth to them, that really enhanced the story. I became totally immersed in the story, watching events unfold from the various view points. Transitions were seamless, and the tension will keep you on the edge of your seat as the team races to stop the killer. If you're a fan of Criminal Minds, you're going to love this book!

If you love the TV show Criminal Minds, you'll love this series! The crimes are singularly gory and committed by people who seem to have no limits to their criminal imaginations. Following the all too human investigators into the minds of these killers is a trip not to be made after dark. Although book #9 in the Brandon Fisher series, it could easily be read as a stand alone. As "The Leopard" hunts for more victims, these investigators take us into his previous crime scenes with some very vivid pictures. This is not for the squeamish but it's a very good mystery/ thriller for those of us who occasionally want to read some of the darker stories.
