I adored Maxwell and Helena's story! I was so glad that Helena was able to get her HEA. It was so much fun to watch!

Absolutely love this series! Each one has gotten better and better and I can’t wait to see what’s next. There were a few pacing issues but overall the romance and steam made up for any slow moments

Really loved this book!

It’s original, fresh and fun!

I really like how strong the heroine is in this story. The plot moves quickly and keeps the reader engaged.

If you love Regency romance, this one is not to be missed!

The Lady Tempts and Heir is the third novel centred on the American nouveau riche Crenshaw family. Maxwell Crenshaw, male heir to Crenshaw Iron Works, finally understands the plight of his sisters. His father is forcing him to marry before he can take the helm of the family business. Wishing to ensure the future of Crenshaw Iron Works, an ultimatum is issued: Max must be married by the end of the year. Wanting to eschew marriage altogether, Maxwell approaches a friend of sorts, Lady Helena March. A widow, Helena spends her time administering her charity, a home with a host of wraparound services for unwed mothers. The work is daunting, as are the financial burdens. Maxwell offers his financial support and societal influence to Helena’s charity in exchange for a false engagement. With his ailing father appeased, Maxwell can take the helm of Crenshaw Iron. The plotting pair plan for their engagement to fizzle once it has served its purpose. But as time passes, the planned fizzle becomes an inferno.

The Gilded Age Heiresses is a historical romance series smartly written for the contemporary female reader. While the setting is stiflingly restrictive for its female players, St. George writes bold heroines continually questioning the status quo. We can simmer in the pleasurably guilty reading experience without scoffing (overmuch) at the helplessness of the female characters. I have loved all three installments in this series and cannot wait for the next.

This series has been an absolute delight and I’m happy to add Harper St. George to my list of auto-buy authors. This book has everything you love about historical romance, but the characters and storyline feel fresh and modern. A perfect series if you are new to historical romance or a longtime fan.

This is just a lovely historical romance series. The Lady Tempts an Heir is book three, and while you could probably pick it up without having read the previous books, I did find that I got more out of this one by having a bit more backstory on both main and secondary characters. A tender and sexy romance, importance issues regarding women's rights, the glitz and glamour of the time period; this clicked a many of my book boxes. I eagerly await the next instalment!

I adore this series! I was already interested in Max and Helena from the previous books and they did not disappoint. The chemistry between them was perfection and can’t go wrong with the fake dating trope.

Not a standout, but a perfectly satisfactory Gilded Age romance. The leads are a bit wooden for my taste and the slow burn is a bit too slow. Concerns over social reform issues add some welcome depth to their motivations, but won't surprise or move you in the way they're expressed. I would be interested to try some of this author's other books.

I've been waiting for this story since reading the first in the series - and it was worth the wait! Maxwell and Lady Helena met in a previous book and now it's their time - in this sexy, emotional tale of two people who should not be together but need to be!

A lovely final book in this trilogy!

I didn’t read the first book so I did feel quite a bit lost. It was well written and unique but it was just difficult to follow. It definitely Makes me eager to read the first book of the series

Absolutely loved this latest instalment from Harper St. George, who has quickly cemented herself as a must-buy author for me! Her prose is so lovely, her plots intricate but not needlessly complicated. I loved Helena as a heroine and MAX! We only got glimpses into his character in the previous two books so I didn't quite know what to expect but I should have known Harper would have me adoring him too. Highly recommend this series to anyone who loves Evie Dunmore and Sarah MacLean.

The Lady Tempts and Heir is the next installment in The Gilded Age Heiresses series and follows Maxwell Crenshaw and Lady Helena March.

Maxwell, brother of August and Violet from the first two books in the series, is visiting England from New York because his father has fallen ill. Maxwell and Helena have spent time together in the past (book 2) so when Maxwell's father pressures him to marry, and Lady Helena starts losing support for her charity, the two plan a fake engagement. This way Maxwell seems to be pursuing marriage and Helena has the backing of "husband" that lessens societies concerns of her "radical" ideas of support for women and children.

Like the first two books in the series, The Lady Tempts and Heir is a romance, but society and business also play a large part in the story. Maxwell's family business, Crenshaw Iron, and Helena's charity work for women and children add depth to the story, as Maxwell and Helena learn to balance their lives and passions with their feelings for each other.
The Lady Tempts and Heir was an enjoyable historical romance with complex themes like societal expectations, labor rights, independence, and infertility.

 I would recommend this to:
-historical romance lovers
-historical fiction lovers in general
-anyone who enjoyed The Gilded Age on HBO!!

This is a series I am always happy to come back to and I'm looking forward to the next book, The Duchess Takes a Husband!

This series is the reason I got into Historical Romance, and they continue to be the perfect blend of atmosphere, spice and tenderness. I just love all of them so much! I definitely liked the heroine if this one the most though, because she was the most independent and individually interesting. Can't wait for the next instalment! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review

Excited for Camille and Jacob’s story!

Max and Helena’s desperate love for each other was consuming. I felt and understood Helena’s internal struggle to marry Max. She had already endured the pain of her reality once and definitely didn’t want to feel it again.

Max has always had a lot on his plate as being next in line to head his family’s empire of properties and business ventures. He is a good man and brother-coming to the aid of his distraught sisters, across an ocean nonetheless. We definitely know that Max knows his own mind and wills his own destiny. He strives to do what is right and not what is convenient or what others ( his father) might wish.

I knew he would follow his heart and be confident in his own mind. Violet stole a scene in this book and I love that it seems she will have a bigger role in Camille’s love story.

Quick unedited notes. Loved this one

I LOVE THIS SERIES! It’s fresh, steamy, and so well written. Lady Helena is passionate about the rights and hardships of women, but she isn’t overly pushy when Max doesn’t quite understand the issues. She’s progressive, strong, and fierce. She is one of my favorite leading ladies!

Another fabulous historical romance from Harper St. George! I've absolutely loved this series and will continue reading anything that George publishes.

Totally fabulous
For various reasons both Helena and Maxwell need to be engaged so they agree to fake a courtship and engagement to get them both out of the situations they find themselves in but things don’t totally go to plan when their emotions become involved
I totally loved this book from the very first page, Helena isn’t a traditional lady, she helps those less fortunate to herself including unwed mothers which society frowns upon and her determination to make a difference is what drew me to her so quickly. I loved to see how she changed and developed throughout the story becoming more the person who she could be and realising that maybe she can risk it all. Max is the son of an American steel tycoon and has come to London following news that his father was ill. His sisters were already married (and you absolutely must read their stories but anyways where was I) and living in the UK. He met Helena previously and she is the only person he could think that he would be happy to be fake engaged to and I found his evolution from a playboy type to a person who looks deeper and allows more emotions in really well written and devised and by the end I was team Max!
Both Max and Helena are their own people and I think that is what drew me to their story, they can both function totally independently but together they have a chance and an opportunity to see what could happen and I really enjoyed seeing them learn more about themselves and each other. They both seemed so real to me, they leapt off the page and into my heart and I will admit to being sad to say goodbye to them at the end of the story
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a more unconventional historical romance where the characters have a huge amount of personal development whist also fighting for what they believe in

DNF. I really liked the premise but the writing did not work for me at all. It wouldn't be fair to the book if I finished reading and gave it a low rating.

Did I read this series in the wrong order? Absolutely! I have ordered the first two books in the series because I enjoyed this one so much! I love any type of fall pretense scenarios and this book delivered along with touching on a few more delicate topics this was a fantastic read. I was cheering for Max and Helena while also sympathizing so strongly with Helena. Can't wait to read more from Harper St George.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review.
