American Kate Hamilton and her English police officer fiancée are back, investigating the murder of a man in the local graveyard, the questions surrounding a painting by a Dutch Master, and the strange circumstances surrounding a home abandoned due to deaths in the 1960’s.
As always, the characters and locations are well drawn, and the story line appealing as the author ties the various plot lines together. The everyday relationships of Kate and her friends added to my enjoyment.
A highly recommended series, thanks NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for not making me wait for this latest addition to hit the book stores.

Great mystery novel! Writing was top notch, interesting characters, and a spooky but mysterious storyline. Lots of secrets and twists and turns turned into a very satisfying read for me. Highly recommend!!!

Connie Berry's Kate Hamilton Mysteries have become one of my favorite series. Although I haven't yet received the third book from the library, I went ahead and read the fourth, and I think it's the best one yet!

The author knows just how to set the scene so that you can see the characters and venues clearly in your mind, but she doesn't go overboard with description. She puts Kate, an American antiques dealer, in situations in the UK that challenge her and are at least tangentially related to antiques, and she lays out plots that contain layers of clues and information that are easy to follow but fascinating and sometimes heart-stopping. There is no grisly violence, but there are surprises that stopped me in my tracks--twice! I couldn't believe what I was reading, although it didn't seem that it was random or unconvincing.

This story starts with a priceless painting that may or may not be authentic and a group of men who are renovating a former mental hospital into expensive living spaces. But when a former boyfriend of Kate's elderly friend is found dead, the story of a group of teenagers at a resort sixty years ago and their exploration of a house where murders had apparently occurred becomes a second compelling plot that Kate's detective boyfriend must investigate, with her help.

I highly recommend this superior series. My thanks to Crooked Lane Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I love this book. I enjoyed the characters and the setting...America meets England...love ensues. This book was sent to me by Netgalley on Kindle for review. I enjoyed it so so much. I can’t wait to read the next one in this series and hope the author sends it to me early. Murder and mayhem...deep dark secrets...diving into the past...this book has it all.
