This was an interesting story but for some reason I couldn’t get into it and I can’t really say why but if you like these type of books it’s a good read.

Good book with lots of twists and turns, very intense but fantastic! A psychological thriller that doesn’t disappoint and a book I couldn’t put down.

The Mother’s Fault is a good psychological thriller that has a good deal of red herrings.
Beverley is mother to Riley they live together in a house in a good neighbourhood, Beverley loves Riley more than anything to the point where she pushes anyone who gets close away. Why does she do this and why does she not really get involved with the other school mums, choosing to keep herself to herself. Making tea one evening Beverley looks into the garden where Riley spends his time after school and he’s not there. Frantic she has to call the police and disclose that someone has been leaving her son gifts in the postbox in the morning. Riley’s father is dead so who could have been doing this?
This was a good psychological thriller that had me turning the pages as quickly as I could. I liked Beverly and felt this helped enormously in this book. The book is mainly told from Beverley’s POV but it is interspersed with Riley as well which helped.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you so much for the chance to read The Mother’s Fault.

Really enjoyed this gripping thriller.
Completely consuming and tense. So easy to get lost in and caught up in the nail biting world of

Love the different perspectives. You get to know each character (or think you do!).
Thought I had it all sussed at one point but my theory was unravelled bit by bit.

Wholesome ending with all pierces of the puzzle put together and questions answered.

I’ll be looking out for Nicola’s books in future!

I dove into this novel and didn't pull my head out until the end. It is a suspenseful read about a single mother and her eight-year-old son, Riley, in Australia. The picture of a loving mother cooking spaghetti supper while Riley runs around the backyard is warm and comforting. When Riley goes looking for their neighbor Sam's dog, Scotty, the picture-perfect life setting goes ice cold. Riley disappears.

Beverley had just broken up with Ethan and wants to make it a clean break, so she doesn't respond to calls or texts. When wrapped gifts begin showing up in her mailbox, she assumes they are from Ethan. Riley and Ethan got along so well, and he would make a great father for Riley, but Beverley can never commit to a serious relationship. She has too many secrets to keep, and no one can ever find out the truth about her and Riley.

The wrenching chapters of Beverley and the police trying to find Riley are well crafted and kept me on the edge of my seat. When a new POV character enters the narrative, I had no idea who the person could be. The tension and chance of violence create a perfect page-turner.

I appreciated the epilogues that so few authors give the reader. I needed to know the answers to so many of the questions that the plot posed. Ms. Trope skillfully created questions and generously gave me the answers. I highly recommend the book to new readers of this author.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

This book is a great read!
It's difficult to comment without giving too much away, suffice to say that Beverly had a very tough start in life and really needed the support of her brother James - he stepped up. But who would care for James?
Young Riley was loved, but there were secrets, big secrets, about him that he would learn later in his life.
Enough said, I would recommend you read this book.

This author never disappoints. I'd read anything written by her. She infuses every book she writes with suspense, tension and most of all heart. This one was no different. Absolutely loved this book.

This is another excellent psychological thriller from Nicole Trope. I have really enjoyed all her books and this one doesn’t disappoint. So many twists, turns and red herrings it will certainly keep you on your toes!

I discovered Nicole Trope on Netgalley earlier this year and was so excited when I saw she had another book available! Thank you to Bookouture for my gifted digital copy of “The Mother’s Fault.”

“The Mother’s Fault” is a bit slower burn than “The Family Across the Street,” but it’s still a quick, engrossing read. Beverly, a single mom, is frustrated by the gifts her ex-boyfriend continues to send her son, 8-year-old Riley — or at least she thinks it’s her ex behind the gifts.

Beverly is cooking dinner for Riley when he goes missing — and suddenly, she’s forced to reckon with the secrets she’s kept from Riley.

I really liked this one, and I will read anything Nicole Trope writes in the future!

The Mother’s Fault started off a bit slow but once the pace picked up it got a lot more interesting. I never saw any of the twists coming and I have to admit I was blaming the most obvious character. I absolutely love how this book ended and it was my favourite part.

A really interesting domestic thriller with unexpected results! I loved how the events from the past unfolded all while keeping the biggest secret in the dark until the very end.

The Mother's Fault is a psychological thriller following single mother, Beverly as she raises her son, Riley. Beverly obviously has some secrets from her past that she wants to keep hidden, but when Riley goes missing, she's forced to face the truth.... that her greatest fears are being realized.

I enjoyed the storyline and thought the twists were very smartly written. The pacing of this book was a little slow for me and I wouldn't call it a "thriller" as much as I would call it a complicated mystery.. Nicole Trope writes in a way that makes you assume one thing, but then she reveals it is the complete opposite. There were not any gasp worthy moments for me while reading, no chilling realizations - just a lot of plot twists and character reveals. Overall, it was a good domestic mystery, but not one that left me on the edge of my seat.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Good story with several twists. A few slow parts but nothing that would make me put the book down. You don’t know if you either want to hug or punch the main character.

Beverly’s son, Riley, 8, is a good boy and full of energy. She was 18 when he was born and is a single mother. Riley has been told by Beverly that his father is dead but he doesn’t know anymore about him. Her recent boyfriend, Ethan, wants to take care of them but Beverly has resisted because he can never learn the truth of their life.

When Riley starts receiving gifts in the mail, Beverly thinks they are from Ethan and texts him asking that he not do that. However, Ethan does not reply.

One evening Riley is in his treehouse in the backyard while Beverly fixes dinner. Someone he knows comes along and tells him that the neighbor’s dog needs his help. Skeptical, he finally does as asked. Now, Riley is missing.

The tension really builds the night Riley goes missing and lots of truths begin to emerge. So much tragedy and so many scary people. This story is like driving fast down a winding road at night during a storm. It twists and grabs at the reader leaving you to wonder what is coming next. What’s truly amazing is how badly some parents can destroy their children. I think readers will like this book. Riley is a smart boy, plus Sam and his dog, Scotty, are extra special characters in this story.

Beverly is raising her son alone. When she begins to receive anonymous gifts, she is afraid….and then Riley disappears while in the yard. This is better than your average missing child book. Well written thriller.

O.k., so this book was a bit exhausting honestly! So much happens and it seems to go on forever, but here goes. Beverly is a single mom to her eight-year-old son Riley and has just broken up with the seemingly wonderful Ethan because she felt they were getting too close. So you realize pretty early that she has some serious secrets. Then someone starts leaving gifts in the mailbox for Riley, that grow each day in value. Beverly thinks that it's Ethan trying to buy his way back into their lives. Then we realize that her elderly neighbor Sam has an uninvited house guest living with him and Riley has gotten too good to be true new teacher at school. Then Riley goes missing.

What I loved about this book is the endless number of times I was completely surprised. I can't count how many times I said out loud, "what the hell?" From the variety of points of view in this novel, it slowly became more and more clear what the big secrets were, but when I thought I knew what was going on, I was completely wrong.

What I disliked was the pacing. It took me days to get into this book, whereas, I usually start and finish a book in a few hours. The first 40-50% is painfully slow, however, I had seen such good reviews I decided to stick it out and see what all of the fuss was about.

Once things started getting more exciting, I found myself more addicted to continuing the book but, in the end, it ended up feeling like a B-rated Lifetime movie. The premise was silly, the surprises started getting silly, and the perfect ending made no sense after everything else.

Now, I am not hating on you if you like to indulge in the B-rated Lifetime movies and if so, you will enjoy this book. For me, the best I can give this is 3 stars because it was too slow and too far-fetched.

I’m sure that this book will have plenty of fans. It is interestingly plotted and has many twists and turns. It wasn’t particularly enjoyable for me, but I am not a particular fan of this genre. The plot follows Beverley and her 9 year old son Riley. Riley suddenly disappears and it is clear that Beverley is hiding a big secret. The narrative jumps back and forth between different characters points of view., and is tightly plotted keeper the reader on their toes. Fans of Nicole Trope’s previous novels should enjoy this one. Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for an ARC of this novel.

This was my first book by Nicole Trope so I was very excited to get an early reading copy of The Mother’s Fault and readily jumped in.

It is a tricky one to review without spoilers but in a nutshell our protagonist Beverly and her son Riley are living a quiet life until the day Riley mysteriously disappears from their back yard. The story is told from multiple viewpoints which helps to build the tension as you are taken closer to find out why Riley is missing and can Beverly find him before it’s too late.

After reading reviews I didn’t find it quite as intense as I was expecting but more a slow burn. It was a nice build up to the when the craziness was unleashed and the red herrings that were dropped throughout did a good job of keeping the reader guessing. All in all a great weekend read that will keep you invested until the last page.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the early reading copy.

After Beverly's son Riley mysteriously vanishes one afternoon while playing in the backyard, she knows it's only a matter of time before the past caught up with her. She's careful as to what she tells the police, as she has to keep her secrets hidden, especially from them. She realizes that she must find Riley herself, before she loses him forever.

This is the second book I've read from this author and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I love how she makes you think it's going a certain way and then BAM she changes direction completely. It was hard to put this one down. I'm happy to have discovered this author and I look forward to reading the next book!

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book.
