An exciting mystery and psychological thriller. Excellent character and plot development. Thanks to Netgalley for providing this ARC.

I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook - it's well-performed by both the reader of Bryn's perspective and the one for Josh. Sometimes when listening to multiple narrators in one book, I find myself greatly preferring one over the other, but this is a good balance here.

Burn has lived quietly on a homestead in Eastern Tennessee - largely cut off from friends and family after a betrayal and heartbreak 15 years earlier. When the product of that betrayal unexpectedly shows up on her door, Bryn is forced to deal directly with her past in an effort to help her nephew find his mother. The villain here is a bit over the top and some of the plot's turns do strain credibility at times.

Bryn's love of nature shines here and the kayaking adds a lot to the adventure aspect of the story. It's an engaging listen and one that I definitely found myself listening to at every opportunity. I loved the dog, Josh's resilience and Bryn's character arc. The visuals of the setting gives this a real cinematic flair. While the ending isn't entirely unpredictable, there are still some surprises. I am curious to check out Hodge's debut novel now!

As someone who has a sister in Tennessee, this story definitely hits home for me. This was fast paced and entertaining

I received a free copy of this book from Dreamscape Media through Netgalley.com in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book I've listened to by Rebecca Hodge and I will definitely be listening to more. This is a fast paced book as Bryn and her nephew Josh race to find his mother before a criminal from their past finds her.

Bryn lives a solitary existence until her nephew shows up unexpectedly telling her that her estranged sister is missing and he doesn't know where she could be. Struggling with feelings from her past Bryn struggles with helping but ultimately has the choice taken away when someone threatens her farm.

As Bryn and Josh travel the country in search of his mother they are also learning about how their past has influenced their current circumstances. As the bond between Aunt and nephew grows they discover surprises and learn that they are stronger than they believed.

This was a good read and the narrators really nailed the characters. Hodge did a good job of navigating the feelings of a young boy with an addict mother and the responsibility he felt to take care of her. She also did a great job with Bryn and her struggle with intimacy due to a huge betrayal by the people who she loved the most.

This is an interesting thriller with good characters. But honestly, it's forgettable. The setting is neat, and the audiobook is well narrated.

Thank you to dreamscape media for an audio copy to read and review an audio copy to read and review

I completely loved Bryn & Josh. They went through so much together & I truly felt for them the entire book while they searched for Del. I greatly enjoyed the bond that they formed throughout the story as they discovered some shocking twists that surprised me, as well as them.
Fantastic book!

While this book was overall entertaining I found it to be a bit slow and rather redundant. The present day story was engaging and interesting but the background stories overwhelms the reader and distracts from the great story at hand. I love the supernatural but for me this one was just to far fetched and lacking in action.

*received for free from netgalley for honest review* found this book to be too long at times, drawing things out or taking forever to come to obvious conclusions

This one had me listening way past when I should have turned it off and gone to sleep or to work! Bryn is living a life of isolation on her farm after a betrayal between her fiance and her sister. Now, after so many years she has a visitor and it turns out to be her nephew who needs her help. With the death of his father (her former fiance) there is no one to help him and he needs help finding his mom who is missing. What ensues is a twisty tale of betrayal, survival, and coming out on the other side. Definitely a recommendation from me.

I enjoyed this fast pace, heartfelt, intriguing story about two sisters with very different personalities and lifestyles. Bryn likes her solitude, living off the land, and finds herself face-to-face with her sister's son when her sister, Del, goes missing. It wasn't enough that Del stole Bryn's fiancé, her disappearance drags Bryn away from her homestead, and face-to-face with Carl, a man she doesn't dare cross.
The story follows Bryn and her nephew, Josh, to Colorado where they hope to put an end to Carl's threats so they can each go back tot their lives. It was interesting learning about kayaking dangerous rivers, and the story follows a fast-pace, must persevere thread much like kayaking over a falls.
The dynamics and emotions between Josh and Bryn are great, and although the story is written with a suspenseful pace, it also layers the building and reinforcing of emotional relationships between characters. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me this interesting read!

An interesting novel that follows Bryn Collins who lives alone on a farm. She has an quiet life until her past comes back to disrupt that by thrusting her into a search she never wanted. Her nephew ends up on her door after his mom (Del) disappears. This forces Bryn to leave her farm and travel to numerous states looking for both her sister and the truth behind her disappearance.

The plot was okay but there were some moments that got bogged down with too much character development or discussions. I understand the need for some discussions but the inner monologue became too much, The mystery was okay but other than the truth behind Del’s final location there weren’t any surprises. The “big reveal” I saw coming chapters before it happened. The conclusion was great as everything was neatly wrapped up.

The characters were one of the weakest points. I found Bryn too jaded and angry about the past. If Del had just betrayed her I would understand, but she held onto that anger for 14 years, which was far too long. Sawyer was far too mature for a 14 year old, but maybe growing up taking care of his mother would force you to mature quickly. Bryan’s cute neighbour was my favourite character as he was strong, sweet, caring and smart.

The audiobook was good as there was two voice actors (Aven Shore and Nick Mondelli) which allowed each character to have their own voice/accent. I was never confused about what each character was thinking or doing at any time.

The characters liked kayaking, especially white rapid kayaking, so hearing about these activities was interesting. I’m not sure how accurate it was as I’ve never gone before but this helped make the novel unique.

Overall this was an okay mystery novel.

I wasn’t a fan of this audiobook, mainly because of the character arc. It seemed as if the author took all of the stereotypical teenage boy’s actions and emotions and piled them into Josh’s character. On the one hand he’s a gamer but then on the other hand he says he can’t be inside for long and gets antsy. He is seemingly mature for his age, paying bills and taking an Uber hundreds of miles to find his Aunt, but then has says really immature statements and acts very childish. This all felt like a contradiction of character rather than merely a rollercoaster teenager.

I had a hard time feeling a connection to any of the characters. Not only were their actions far fetched, but I found them annoying. Maybe it was having it in audiobook form where the narrator’s chosen tones and voices influenced this but I also feel that it was the writing.

Loved the cover. However the story fell short for me. Parts of it were too slow for my taste and retold the same things in different ways. The past coming back to haunt the present is a common theme that this book follows. Lots of backstory but too many unrealistic events that took place. Some people really liked it, I just couldn't get into it and it felt less than thrilling.

We all have family issues, but they may look mild in relation to this family. When his mother goes missing, a boy finds his estranged aunt and together they begin a search for his missing mom. Dredging up the past causes hurt along the way, but with danger around every corner, the characters are forced to live in the moment. This book has some gentle twists and turns! I enjoyed it, and the narrators did a really nice job bringing the story to life!

This is a cat and mouse mystery with a few twists and turns in it. The characters are not very likable, except for Josh. But even he got on my nerves, at times. The main character, Bryn, seems likeable until she constantly harps about her fiancé leaving her for her sister. Mind you, this happened over ten years previously. I felt the author overdid this aspect of the story. I just wanted to shake Bryn and tell her to get over it. The man was dead.

There is plenty of action and chase scenes abound. A touch of animal cruelty is shown but it doesn’t persist so shouldn’t be too disturbing. The writing is good. The narration fits the book, and the narrators keep it going smoothly. Overall, it is worth the purchase.

This was an enjoyable thriller mystery audio book. Special thanks to #dreamscapeMedia and #NetGalley for access to this faced paced advanced readers copy. I enjoyed that the characters, settings and actions were explained but not excessively detailed to the point that you’re annoyed. You are able to get a good feel for what’s going on and the tension that builds with the characters. Some thrillers can be pretty predictable but I didn’t feel that was the case with this book.

As an audiobook, this book sucked. There were two narrators, one for Bryn and one for Josh. Both had monotone voices, giving the feel of them just reading the book, not feeling it. It was the first time I was disappointed with a narrator.
The book itself was good. The story had me engrossed, going on the search with Bryn and Josh. I loved the budding relationship between the two, and how they were finding their family through eachother. The thrill of them being hunted, while they hunted for clues, was great. It all went together really nicely.
To be honest, I have never kayaked. The whole concept scares the crap out of me. The unexpected turns of a river, or speed frighten me. Yeah you can kayak on a lake, but then there is boat traffic. The love of the sport in this book is strong, but still scary. The exact situation near the end, is why I don't do it. lol Scared the crap out of me.

Thank you Netgalley for this audiobook edition of Over the Falls by Rebecca Hodge.

Bryn has been living in blissful seclusion for quite a while. After a devastating break with her fiancée, who had an affair with her sister, Bryn is perfectly content with her animals, and kayaking.

But her quiet solitude comes to a screeching halt when Josh, her sister's son shows up out of the blue, looking for his mother, Del, Bryn's loathsome sister. Despite Bryn's feelings for her sister, she is anxious to return Josh to his mother and return to her life. But someone else is also looking for Del. Carl, a hometown punk, who is owed money from Del, is willing to take drastic measures to find her.

Thus begins a cat and mouse adventure full of secrets, danger, and rediscovered relationships.

This book had great bones, but I have to admit, I just wasn't into it. I thought that after thirteen years, Bryn's red hot hatred towards her sister was a bit overdone. I also thought that her feelings for her fiancee were also unrealistic. It was hard to get super invested in finding her sister, as well as a lot of the back story. The whole things just fell a bit flat.
