I was approved to read this book on NetGalley. I listened to the audiobook and finished it very quickly. I was pulled into this book immediately. It almost gave me Colleen Hoover vibes at the end. Great story and it leaves you the ability to come to your own conclusion. Great read!

Bryn has made a solitary life for herself after her fiance and sister end up together. She is shocked when her nephew shows up on her doorstep because his Mom has gone missing. While unraveling what has happened to her estranged sister, Bryn confronts demons from her past. The book contained suspense and mystery along with a twist or two along the way.

I listened to the audio version and Aven Shore and Nick Mondelli do a great job of narrating this version.

This was an entertaining adventure/domestic suspense thriller featuring Bryn who gets roped into trying to find her estranged sister when she disappears. Full of adventure, thrilling white water rapids rides and the power of familial bonds. This one kept me on the edge of my seat right to the end! Much thanks to NetGalley for my ALC!

Unfortunately this book left a lot to be desired. The characters lacked depth and the story was very slow moving. I listened to the audiobook and the narrators definitely did not help the story. They were lackluster at best.

I don't often listen to books, but got an opportunity to hear this one through NetGalley. Wow, Listening to a book with two different narrators, especially two different genders, makes this such an immersive experience. I thought the actors did a great job of expressing what the author put on the page. I liked that this book was in first-person pov and think it really helped me to get into the character's heads. I know how hard it can be to write dual pov, so I was impressed that there wasn't a lot of duplication of information between the two characters.

This book had me right off the bat. Such a fascinating story of love and loss and had me guessing the whole time. I'm always amazed how a story I think is going to go one way ends up diverting in a whole different direction.

I was wishing for more of the relationship between Bryn and her neighbor because I thought there was too much distance. But I realize it might have been intentional given the main character's struggles.

I thought Rebecca Hodge did a wonderful job of describing the feeling of kayaking in whitewater, which made me wonder if she had done it herself. I was definitely anxious through each whitewater scene, feeling every struggle with the characters.

The ending was satisfying, which these days can be hard to find. I won't say more than that, but it's done well.

Overall, I think this is a book people will enjoy and should not be missed.

I really, really enjoyed this one!

I was a little put off by the opening where there's an extremely lengthy description of a goat being born and while I can appreciate that the author took a unique approach to driving home the point of that Bryn is a real Tennessee mountain dweller.....I really didn't need the graphic description of her hand going up inside a goat and turning the baby before it was born. Just a little much for this NYC girl.

That being said, I'm glad I stuck with it rather than letting that turn me off. The story was really compelling. I absolutely loved all the characters and I loved how you're mostly watching the story unfold with the main characters, since neither Bryn nor her nephew knew what happened to Del or Sawyer. Both Bryn's story and her Nephew's story were awesome. It was such an easy story to listen to it.

I definitely hope there's more from this author!

I received the audiobook of this title and I LOVED it! The story encompassed all of my emotions.

Brin's nephew shows up at her farm and tells her that his mom, her sister, is missing. His mother has a drug habit and had told Josh if anything happened to her to find his Aunt Brin. As the tale unfolds, it gets pretty intense. Very action-packed, exciting, and emotional.

This was a great family drama / mystery hybrid book! The book took a lot of turns that I was not expecting.

Bryn Collins lives in east Tenneessee, happy to live a life of solitude after her high school and college sweetheart, Sawyer, left her for her sister Del. Years later, Sawyer died in a plane crash, but Bryn has never forgiven her sister. 14 years later, Sawyer and Del's son, Josh, shows up on Bryn's doorstep needing help. Ddel is missing. Somone is after her for money, and he needs help, now.

Bryn, unable to say no to her nephew, embarks on a journey she never thought she'd be on. Facing past demons, uncovering mysteries and more, Bryn realizes she might want to put back together her broken family.

This book is great for those that love action, outdoor adventure, and family drama. Alternatiing between Josh and Bryn's perspectives as they get to know each other and uncover the truth.

Hodge has written an excellent, engaging and realistic story in Over the Falls. From the opening passage to the last, the story follows normal actions of realistically developed characters through an unfortunate, but believable situation. The only portion of the story that even slightly begged credulity was the existence of a relationship between Bryn and Sawyer as more information about him was revealed. However, the story is excellent! It was refreshing to experience a story that didn’t suddenly wrap everything up with a neat little bow. Life just isn’t like that and this book rings true to life.

The imagery presented added to the story. Hodge artfully avoided bogging down the flow of the book with descriptions, rather helping to immerse the reader/listener in the events taking place. Very well done.

The audio presentation was pleasant. Nick Mondelli did a great 14-year-old boy. His emotions and frustrations so common in 14-year-olds could be heard in the narration. Aven Shore did not do as dynamic of a job. She wasn’t whiny or over the top, which could easily have happened. Instead, her narration was a bit flat, lacking emotion where it seemed it should be. She sounded more like she was giving a statement to the police through the entire narration.

I really enjoyed both this story and the narration. It is not quite what I expected, yet even better. The story is a bit sad, a little scary, and it also has some feel-good moments, as well. Overall, everything you need in a thriller and I would definitely love to both read this author again, as well as listen to the narrator.

I really enjoyed Over the Falls. I listened to the audiobook version and both narrators did a great job. I absolutely love farm life and the homestead setting so that pulled me in right away. I loved Bryn and really empathized with her struggles. I probably would have rated this five stars but I never felt like the author made Bryn's sister likable. By the end of the book I didn't honestly care at all if her sister lived or died. My heart broke for her nephew Josh though, who was desperate to find his missing mother. The pacing of the book was not bad, could be a bit slow in some places but that was typically flashbacks and setting detail so it did not make the story dull in my opinion.

I had a really hard time getting into this book, but I think it was mainly because of the female narrator. It was hard to fall into. I found myself putting it off for long periods of time. Some books are meant to be read and not listened to, so I may give this another chance in book form.

Over the Falls is a quick and fast read about a woman, Bryn who has lived remotely after her sister gets pregnant with Bryn’s fiancé, Sawyer. She lives a simple life on a farm in eastern Tennessee when suddenly a young teenage boy appears on her property and she instantly know this is her nephew. His mother has gone missing and he has no one else to turn to. The two begin a cross country journey to locate his mom and find out what happened.

I loved this book! The writing is very solid and I love different POVs. I loved watching the relationship grow between Bryn and her nephew Josh. A major of theme of this book is family and what you make of what you’ve got. I also loved the whitewater rafting scenes and now I want to try it myself!

If you enjoy family drama, this book is for you! I received this in audio format and really enjoyed the swapping of perspectives read by the voice actors. It really made everything feel alive.

There was so much going on and I wasn’t sure everything would fit together in the end but it did. While some areas seemed a little over the top, I feel that overall the author did a good job of telling a highly emotional driven story and keeping everything moving.

I received this ARC from @netgalley in return for an honest review.

Over the Falls by Rebecca Hodge

Bryn Collins has been living on an isolated farm in the mountains in Eastern Tennessee for fourteen years now. After being hurt by her fiancé, Sawyer, who had an affair with Bryan’s sister Del!

Del mysteriously goes missing! Josh, her fourteen year old son makes his way across Tennessee to Bryn’s doorstep. Bryn and Josh set off to try to find Del.

Carl, a trouble-making outcast shows up looking for Del as well, as she owes him money.

They head to Colorado on a tip Del may be there. Why did she take off and leave Josh behind? Is she okay? Did something happen to her?

I enjoyed listening to this story! Enjoyed the characters! A suspenseful book that kept me wanting to listen to as I wanted to know what was going to happen.

Narrated by Aven Shore and Nick Mondelli - both did and awesome job!!

Thank you Rebecca Hodge, Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the audio to listen to this book in return for my honest review!

The narrators did a really good job, it almost made you feel like you were right there in the story with them.
it was an intense suspenseful thriller that was another win in my books. I was immediately intrigued by the story.

In the story we follow Bryn who has made a life for herself on an isolated farm after her sister Del and fiance broke her heart by having an affair. A teenager, Josh appears one day looking for his aunt, they immediately end up delivering twin goats with eachother. The teenager turns out to be her nephew. It turns out his mom, Bryn's sister is missing. Del had always told Josh that if he ever ran into trouble to find his aunt. Bryn doesn't have the best relationship with her sister for many reasons but knows she can't turn her back on her nephew. So naturally they start the search in trying to figure out what happened to Del.

This was definitely a slow burn for me but I was so immersed in the mystery that I think it really worked with the plot and book overall.

This was an average read, where nothing stands out. There were highs, and unrealistic storylines. The ending is two-fold: The best part and I thought realistic was the ending for Josh. I did not like (and never do) the open-ended ending.

I enjoyed, and it warmed my heart the role the dog played. This is a nice travel book. It didn't require a great deal of concentration. I liked Bryn, and felt her line in the story was realistic. Sawyer was another overdone role.

This was my first book by Rebecca Hodge and what a suspenseful thriller it was. I decided to go with the audiobook and thought the narrators, Aven Shore and Nick Modelli, did a great job.

Bryn Collins is living in the Tennessee mountains now. She moved there fourteen years ago after her sister Del, and fiance, Sawyer, broke her heart, by having an affair and getting pregnant. Now 14 years later, living in the mountains and finding her peace, her nephew Josh, whom is Del and Sawyers son, finds her and needs her help finding his mother, Del. Sawyer has died and he has no one. Del is drug addict and has crossed paths with the wrong people. Bryn sets off with her nephew to find her sister. As they travel to Colorado, the last place Del was known to be, there is much danger along the way. They find out secrets about who Del and sawyer are.

This was a slow burn mystery, and I was intrigued by the relationship between Bryn and Josh. I also thought the twist at the end was good. Definitely an enjoyable, tense read that I'd recommend.

Thank you to the publisher, katerock booktours, netgalley, and the author for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own!

We meet the main character who chose to leave the big city and become a part time farmer with all the accoutrements while working on line. She lives the single life after her competitive sister has a one night stand with her fiancé and all of a sudden she is not the bride anymore but an aunt.
This nephew shows up on her doorstep 13 years later looking for his mom who has disappeared. The dad died in a plane crash years ago and he is alone and needs help. Mom has had her share of shady friends that sent her down the drug and alcohol path but this boy has developed skills and street savvy that help him and subsequently his mom survive.
These two become traveling partners in search of the mom…along with the drug dealers following them who are minus a lot of drugs and money and want it back.
Family ties and mental stamina keep this storyline in motion. A disinterested grandmother and an appearance by “Lazaurus”  adds to all the action and drama.
The wonderful descriptions throughout the book had the listener in the midst of it all: whether white water kayaking or being chased by drug dealers. I highly recommend this book.
