A fun, witchy rom-com featuring fix-it witch Danica and "mundane" (non-witch) baker Titus. Danica's family has firm opinions about marriage outside the craft and life is made even more complicated with the news a witch hunter is in town while Titus has his own family drama brewing.

This title was an enjoyable Fall read with the anticipated romance elements. I look forward to more in the series.

There are many things about this book I did not enjoy. Danica becomes a character that feels so irredeemable that her "grand action" at the end of the book felt cheap and I wouldn't have taken her back. This book relies so heavily on miscommunication it'll make you scream. I mean like, they're not even saying things to each other, they're just thinking them. Was this a debut novel???
This book completely misses the mark on any attempt its trying to make with its half assed conversations about safe sex. If you're going to include discussions about safe sex, do it BEFORE the sex and not after! Or don't include the discussion at all! However, this attitude about sex is no surprise as the "twist" is pretty fucked up and made me feel incredibly uncomfortable. Not only that but one aspect of the twist is so completely obvious from the very first moment it comes into play, and she doesn't figure it out until the second last chapter of the book. I at one point was screaming, going "why do you not see why this isn't working like think a little deeper for one second, you are so selfish" and I at no point stopped screaming it. I originally received an ARC but it lapsed so I got this from the library. I would not have read this if it were not for that. I will not suggest this book or this author to a friend.

Gilmore girls meets Practical Magic gives the perfect fall rom com in book form. And the narrator added to it.

(I received an ARC of this audiobook from NetGalley and the publisher.)

This audiobook was everything I expected it to be. It was cute with just enough cheesiness to hold my attention. I love a good cheesy romance and while it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, I absolutely loved it. It was basically a witchy romcom in audiobook form and I enjoyed the tension between Danica and Titus, the meddling grandmother, the great relationship Danica has with her cousin/roomie!

I love books with light, comical witchy vibes, but sadly this one didn't do it for me. The romance and dialogue was cringey, even if the characters are likeable. I guess I just expected more.

I have to admit, this has been an almost DNF book for me twice! However, I’m a mood reader and I prefer to finish books I start even if it takes several times trying to do so.

I really really wanted to love this book, cute cover, witches, queer rep, romcom…Yea it spoke to me! However, it just fell flat for me overall. The main character, Danica who is a witch always seems to fall in love with simpletons and mundane which is a big no-no. She does it again and imo the overall flow and dialogue between the characters didn’t peak my interest.

The ending did have some loose ends, but I now know it is a series that does make more sense.

I recommend this for anyone who enjoys very light romance books almost equivalent to a young adult read.

Witchy vibes present in Ann Aguirre’s Witch Please. The first book in the Fix-It Witches series. This insta sparks and irresistible attraction of Danica and Titus starts almost immediately. The premise of this book, with a mundane and a witch who fall in love with each other and family drama would normally do it for me but this one fell a little short. I will admit that the second half of the book was better than the first. As I stated this was an inta attraction and because of that it felt like there was no where for their relationship so as the reader I was always wanting more. Their dialogue was ok but didn’t flow like I am accustomed to reading. Now I can say there were parts that I totally loved. One that I want to highlight specifically is the inclusive nature and representation of different characters. The book club was just what I imagined a book club to be! Although the ending seemed a little rushed I am hoping that the loose ends will be addressed in future books. Overall, it was a quick, light rom/com. 2.5 stars rounded up.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.

This title is currently available now.

Readers whose tastes lean more towards treats than tricks, will love Titus Winnaker, the hero of Ann Aguirre’s magical romance. Titus owns a bakery known for its delicious cinnamon buns; he also is cursed and positive that he’s destined to be alone. When he meets Danica Waterhouse, the witch who owns the magical shop three blocks over from his bakery, he’s utterly enchanted. Danica, however, is skeptical about an HEA between them. Can a witch whose family is pressuring her to marry someone magical find true happiness with a mundane?

As always, I love Aguirre's writing style and easily found myself swept up in this world alongside such interesting characters. Narrator Ava Lucas did a fantastic job and I hope that Lucas makes a return for future books.

It was a bit heavier than I expected with both the hero and heroine dealing with intense family traumas, but I'm definitely hooked on this series and eagerly waiting for the next installment!

I tried so hard to like this book, really I did, but I found the characters to be obnoxious, stereotypical and very two dimensional. While the plot itself was interesting, the lack of proper characters really detracted from my ability to enjoy the story. I do believe that if more time was take to fix said problem, the story would definitely be able to stand on its own as an adorable rom-com.

This was a fun little magical girl power novel. It was funny, romantic, and fun. I'll definitely be looking for more from Ann Aguirre. Looking forward to the second installment later this year.

This was a little weird. Some of the dialogue was clingy when it was trying to be cute. This one didn’t work for me but the story was good.

This was a fun story with likable main characters, there were just a couple of quirks that made me bump it down a star. It sometimes felt like there was weird product placement in the story, especially the guys car, every time it was referred to it was by make and model and not just car. There also seemed to be too many plots going on, it was a lot to keep track of. Also why she tolerated the grandma for so long was ridiculous.
The narrator was really good and did a great job of distinguishing between characters.

3.5

I'm a big fan of Ann Aguirre's Indie Sci-Fi romances. I was very excited to see she was traditionally publishing a paranormal romance! The audiobook narration was fantastic and the narrator did a great job differentiating all of the side characters we meet.
There was a lot I enjoyed in this one! The world building was fascinating. This world lives secretly with witches and they blend in working with the citizens while keeping a low profile. The characters all felt different and fleshed out enough to feel like characters and not card board cut outs..

It did feel very much more contemporary than paranormal which isn't a bad thing. This could be a good introductory to paranormal romance.
The romance went up and down for me, There was a lot of internal struggles that could have been alleviated with more communication (which Danica learns to handle better towards the end), and our MMC being very insecure in his sense of value and self worth. It was oddly refreshing to see a MMC with internal struggles about their appearances like I would read with FMC. I can see how his internal struggles borderline on entitlement but I did enjoy seeing that gender should not be a factor on our own self esteem and self issues. Cis men aren't allowed to be emotional. I did like that Aguirre made the character Bi and surrounded by mostly positive women relationships in his life.
Danica's story was interesting in how family influence can shape or break your spirit. It's interesting to see that dynamic played out in a paranormal setting.

Everything with the coven and magic I needed so much more of. A lot of scenarios would pop up and then seem to not lead anywhere after awhile.

I am looking forward to the rest of the series. Especially Clem and the witch hunter.

I really loved this adorable story about a witch falling in love with a mundane and how they make things work! Danica and her fix-it company was so awesome, and I loved how she would go around using magic to fix things and distract people by telling them to look at the manual. She was so grand. And then Titus was a sweetie, and I completely died over the fact that he had never been with anyone before because of the spell Danica's mother had set about her true love never straying from her. This was just an adorable and hilarious story, and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next one!

A cute little witchy rom-com! It wasn’t anything special or flashy for me and was a pretty moderate story.

It's really hard to review this book because I struggled to finish it. I forced myself to plow on, but it wasn't worth it. The characters were flat and the story was boring. The only redeeming quality is the adorable cover, which is what drew me to the book in the first place. I guess the old adage "don't judge a book by its cover" rings true.

To start with, this book was originally a DNF for me. However, I am glad that I chose to pick this book up again and give it a second shot.

I love contemporary romance and when you add a paranormal or magical twist, I'm instantly hooked. Aguirre has a wonderful way of writing that's easy to keep up with and quick to finish. The world building felt minimal which was okay due to the small town setting.

This book has fun banter and romance with lovable characters. Although this book was a slow start for me, it picked up and was hard to put down. Overall, this book was a strong 3.5

Thank you to NetGalley for the arc.

Looking for a cute and sexy witchy read, this one zinged.

Danica is working at Fix it Witches when Titus "the Cinna Man" walks in looking for someone to fix Sugar Daddy's oven. There is an instant spark but both have different reasons for taking it slow. Titus is convenienced he is love cursed and Danica refuses to fall for a mundane even though her past relationships with witches have come up flat. When a witch hunter shows up and her grandmother forbids the relationship Danica has a hard time pulling away and things get hot in the kitchen. When a overheard conversation sends Danica spinning, what will she decide is more important, her witchy ways or love?

I was looking for a cute and light witch read for the Halloween season instead of something dark and this audiobook was perfect. It had all the right ingredients to keep me reading. There was a little too much over explaining of Titus troubled past for my liking. The witch hunter storyline helps motivate the characters but feels like is more there to lead in to the authors next novel. Overall the perfect spell for a cute October book.

This was a ridiculously cute romance between a witch and a 30-something virginal bi-sexual baker. Yeah, it may be completely unrealistic but I’m not here reading my witchy fiction books for real-life angst and accuracy. It was sweet and he was a complete cinnamon roll of a character. Loved it. I haven’t read a ton of romances this year and this one was a lovely break from the heavy, dark stuff I’ve been immersed in.

Danica comes from a family of witches and she’s expected to keep the bloodline strong by marrying another witch and to hell with chemistry and true love and all that nonsense. Her mother gave up her magic for love and Danica isn’t about to follow in her footsteps. She loves her coven members and her magical powers and, well, who would want to give those up? Unfortunately for her, the male witches her Grandma fixes her up with are unappealing at best, and dicks at worst. Her last lover broke her heart and she’s still nursing the wound when the hunky baker down the road opens the door to her “Fix It” shop, walks in, and messes her hormones and her plans all the way up.

Titus is but a mere mortal but Danica is due a little fun, right? But from the moment he sees her, he decides she’s the one he’s going to marry (ok, that right there might’ve been a wee bit creepy even I’ll admit) and you can guess how this all goes if you’ve read a romance or two . . .

The romance was adorable. I give it all the stars. I loved these two together, sexy and funny and goofy and awkward and sweet. The family issues might even make your heart thaw if it’s frozen like mine. There is a cat character. There is a dog character. All of these things are my personal catnip. However (you probably saw that coming), the controlling Grandma was NOT my favorite and the world-building needed a little bit of work. A “witch hunter” is introduced but that plot-line kind of fizzled and died. I had a bunch of questions and the resolution didn’t really answer them. I think this is going to be a series so maybe this secret witch world will be made a little clearer then.

Anyhow, I listened to the audiobook narrated by Ava Lewis who does a fine job of injecting life into the cast of characters. She has a pleasant voice and a nice cadence but you’ll likely want to put in some headphones or be careful who is in the car listening along with you because the love scenes are spicy and this is no lie.

If you need some sweet and spicy fluff in your life, this one should do the trick!

Lately, I’ve been all about the small town paranormal romances. There’s something so endearing about this subgenre of PNR that just draws me in. And witchy stories make the perfect supernatural to feature in these.

In WITCH, PLEASE we first have a very different Ann Aguirre than I’ve read before. Although I’m not an excerpt on her backlist. So that may be a change of pace for you if you’re a longtime fan. This is a story about a family of witches and full of expectations in their community. Our heroine, Danica, has an affinity for electronics and technology. Her and her cousin run a repair shop in town. She’s grown up seeing the effects her mother’s marriage to a human had on her mom’s powers and acceptance in the community. And even though she has a failed relationship under her belt, she doesn’t want to disappoint her grandmother and not marry a witch of good pedigree. Titus walks into her shop one day needing to fix the broken oven at his bakery and all those plans and ideas quickly come crashing down.

This was definitely a cute story and I think the overall plot has a lot of potential. But at the same time it left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. Between the slower pacing and the main characters that didn’t always feel like they were actually spending time getting to know each other, I was left feeling there was something missing in this one. I liked the heroine (and side characters) probably more than the hero. Titus was just ehhh for me. And I really wanted to like him! He definitely felt extremely creepy and clingy at times and I get there’s a supposed reason for that but I still didn’t always like it. I also found that his virginity and the fact that he’s bisexual were not addressed as much as I would’ve liked in the story. I was certainly surprised when the main characters had sex for the first time and there was no clear conversation before, during, after about any of that.

When it came to the actual relationships in this book, romantic or other, they didn’t come across as deep for me. Maybe that was by design, this is a more light hearted book in many ways. But at times it did go into some more serious subjects and again I don’t think they were handled with much depth.

Lastly, I would say there’s a lot of parallels in this witchy world to real racism. I can’t say I felt it was addressed well. And the way part of that is handled towards the end of the story as it involves the HEA just doesn’t sit well with me.

All that but still I found this to be a sweet book. There were fun moments with the family, I loved the support system that the heroine and even the hero have. Family is a central part of this story and of both MCs and that is always heartwarming and makes for a perfect summer read. So if you’re looking for a cute paranormal to read while enjoying those last few rays of sunshine this Summer, maybe give this one a try.
