I was looking for a book with fall vibes, so this seemed like a good choice. Witch Please has a really cute cover and I really liked the premise, but sadly it wasn't what I was hoping for. Danica is a witch who falls for a mundane which she has been told her whole life is against the rules for her family.

I'll start with my issues. I'm good with immediate attraction, but I tend to prefer slow, tension-building relationships and with Danica and Titus, it all just happened to fast which left nothing to look forward to. Titus was nice, but for me he was a walking red flag, and his internal dialogue was excessive and at times cringe-worthy. Some of the banter was cute, but some of the dialogue between characters was unnatural and didn't flow well. The ending felt rushed and there were quite a few loose ends hanging around that I felt needed to be addressed.

There were parts of the book that I did enjoy such as the inclusive character representation. Danica's book group was a lot of fun. I wanted more of them and more magic. I loved when Danica stood up for herself and the growth that Titus showed with regards to his family. But out of everything, my favorite part of the book was Goliath the cat.

This was almost a DNF for me, but I decided to push through and actually ended up enjoying the second half more than the first. Overall, it was a quick, light rom/com. 2.5 stars rounded up.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for my advanced audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

DNFed
I wasn’t a fan of the characters or how the story was playing out I wanted to finish it since I liked the premise but just couldn’t. I wasn’t a fan of the writing style and the characters felt flat to me. I felt no connection to them

Witch Please by Ann Aguirre is a fun Fall time read! Witches, small town, hexes, baked goods, cute animals, friends, and family drama all wrapped up together. Loved the "Cinnamon Roll Hero" Titus who owns a bakery known for its delicious cinnamon rolls. Everyone in the town even calls him "CinnaMan"! There is even a cinnamon roll feeding scene!!! And witch Danica fixing appliances and electronics at her shop, "Fix-it Witches" is just too clever and cute.
If you love Practical Magic, Gilmore Girls, Virgin River, Bewitched, and wish Hallmark Movies had more steamy moments- Witch Please is for you.
The narrator, Ava Lucas did a fantastic job preforming the story.
Thank you to the author, Netgalley, and Dreamscape Media for my audiobook copy, reviews are my own!

It's such a cute story. I'm sure if I had read it I would have enjoyed it a lot more. The voices the narrator gave to the characters didn't really match up for me. But I'm sure that's more of a personal opinion. I can't wait to read her second book!

Overall, Witch Please was a cute read, but something about it wasn't working for me. At times, it was a little too cheesy, which can be frustrating. It's too insta-love for me, and that's one of my least favorite tropes.

Maybe, I'm just not the crowd that this book is geared toward. I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt on this one. If you had taken out the smut, and made the romance a bit more believable in the beginning, I would have loved this, and for that it gets 3 stars. I thought the actual plot was quite enthralling and found the characters to be genuinely likeable. However, I did not know there would be that must smut going in this (or any at all for that matter) so I was unprepared and uncomfortable to say the least. Luckily, I could just fast forward through those parts. Overall, I found this to be adorable and am glad the author is adding more to the series because I love a good witch story - she can even include the smut and I'll just fast forward through those parts again! Ha!

I listened to this immediately after I finished The Ex Hex, and I was just as disappointed with this one. Witch Please is even more unrealistic and out there. The romance felt too easy, and the reason they couldn’t be together felt too dumb. Also, if Danica had has one conversation with her mom, the whole “problem” of the book could have been avoided. I did love that Danica’s coven was disguised as a book club. I’d pass on this one.

Thanks to @NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca and for my ARC!

Danica Waterhouse is a witch, who owns a magical tech-repair shop with her cousin. One day, she meets Titus Winaker, the owner of Sugar Daddy's bakery and their undeniable chemistry blossoms into something more. Only problem is, he's a mundane, and her Gram has never been shy of her dislike towards his kind due to their inability to keep the witch bloodline going. Danica has been told her whole life that if she were to love a mundane, she would lose her powers forever. Danica must find a way to make both sides happy, or lose a once in a lifetime love.

This was a lot of fun. I wasn't the biggest fan in the beginning, due to the INSANE instalove... but the second half of the book definitely picked up for me and I found myself enjoying it. I listened to this on audio, and did enjoy the narrator's style. I enjoyed the complex family dynamics and how both Danica and Titus needed to navigate each of them. I loved Danica and thought she was fierce and stood up for what she wanted. Especially when it came to her grandmother in the end. I also loved Titus, we love a bisexual king who is also a TOTAL SWEETHEART. I was very confused how he could possibly be a virgin since he seemed to be PERFECT, but it all makes sense in the end. Still not a fan of the whole instalove thing though, the instant Titus saw Danica he was like "yup, she's the one" without uttering a single word to one another. It was just weird, in my opinion. The sex scenes were steamy, and I like how the characters always sought consent before they engaged with one another. I enjoyed the witch hunter aspect of the story, but felt like that plotline got lost halfway through... I'm hoping it will be explored more in the future books.

I received an advanced copy of the audiobook through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
Witch Please by Ann Aguirre and narrated by Ava Lucas is the first book in the author's new series Fix-It Witches. I asked to listen to this audiobook because several book reviewers whose opinions I generally agree with said it was a delightful lighthearted rom-com with a magical redheaded witch, a cinnamon-roll hero and lots of family hi-jinks. I did not find it lighthearted at all, there were a few moments, but honestly, there were so many dark and uncomfortable moments in this book that it left me cringing. The bi and gay characters in the book seem to be there as a nod to some marketing quota and not an accurate representation. I can’t even begin to explain how horrible the so-called beloved grandmother truly is with her hatred, her lies and refusal to accept her daughter and granddaughters for who they are and to want them to be happy. One of the many things that made this book a failure for me was that there was no resolution with the grandmother. So many other things had me shaking my head while listening to this book. How can someone consent if there is a spell on them? The conflict between witches and mundanes echoes real-world racism and white supremacy making the book feel very dark to me. The hero, baker Titus Winnaker’s interior monologues, came across as creepy, and then when you find out why all his previous relationships have failed … I have no words. The narrator did an excellent job bringing the characters to life, I just wish she had better material to work with. Steam Level: Medium. This was a really cute magical realism rom-com! I wasn't expecting it to have any steam but it was great! I had so much fun listening to this book! It wasn't my favorite romance of the year but i's definitely fun and I think a lot of people will really enjoy it! I think this is a great romance to read/listen to during October. I got major Halloweentown vibes at times, too!

I've only read Aguirre's zombie series and I really enjoyed that. She is a bit of a Jane of all genres though, isn't she? I'll have to continue reading her novels but I do like her writing and she can write romance as well as science fiction! I was a bit put off by the overuse of "pussy." I think I just don't like they way some people say it and this narrator just didn't say it right for me. lol. If that makes -any- sense! But this was a cute contemporary fantasy romance and I will be reading more of this series and more of Aguirre in general! I think the witchy reasoning behind Titus still being a virgin was a bit lame though. But I do love that he's bisexual and I hope the next book still centers around this couple and maybe FMM!

Drama, Pushy Family, bad jokes and witches this is a book that has my heart from page one. If you want a witchy love story this is the book for you. Now there not much of a plot but the characters make this book for me personally the banter and jokes you have family drama from both the main characters and the main love interest and i want to see where the rest of these books go. I love this book so much five stars

Witch Please was such a cute, wholesome-yet-spicy romance featuring a witch and the regular mundane she falls in love with. Danica Waterhouse comes from a long line of witches. Stuck in the middle of a feud between her grandmother, who wants to make sure the Waterhouse witch bloodline continues, and her mother, who married a mundane and wants Danica to find love, Danica spends most of her days trying not to think of either. She works at Fix-It Witches with her cousin, Clementine, using her magic to quickly fix whatever broken down appliances their customers bring in. But then Titus Winnaker, owner of Sugar Daddy’s bakery, comes in for a repair and neither Danica or Titus will ever be the same. For Titus, Danica is the one. For Danica, Titus is a fantasy that her grandmother will never let her have. But as Titus and Danica get closer and their relationship grows, secrets about the Waterhouse witches will be revealed that will change everything Danica thought she knew about her future.

I absolutely loved listening to this audiobook version of Witch Please. The writing itself was cute, playful, and full of instant attraction. Danica was a joy to hear about; even stuck in a precarious spot between her mother and grandmother, Danica found her way to her impossible happily ever after. And Titus was such a hoot to listen to; an inexperienced believer, Titus was a soft cinnamon roll character aptly nicknamed the Cinna-man by Danica and her friends. Both the main and supporting characters were fantastic and well-rounded. If you’re looking for a beta hero, Titus should be on the top of your list.

I thought Ava Lucas did a fantastic job at narrating both Danica and Titus’s points of view. This story could have shined even brighter with a male narrator for Titus, as Lucas went a bit monotone whenever she tried to reach Titus’ lower voice (but, honestly, I think I loved Titus even more because his humor sounded a bit more flat). But Lucas did a great job at distinguishing between all the characters; I could easily tell if Danica was speaking, or Titus, or Clem, or Gran. Lucas had a good cadence, and the words were crisp and clean and easy to follow. Chapter breaks were obvious, but were only designated by saying the chapter number without any additional sound effects or noises.

I loved hearing Danica and Titus come to life in this audiobook. Once I started listening, I found every opportunity to get more listening in, needing to hear Titus and Danica get their happily ever after. Ann Aguirre’s words were cute and bubbly-sweet, and Ava Lucas did a wonderful job bringing this cast of characters to life.

This is a cute little fall read. It’s very much small town witchy vibes and makes you smile while reading it. Unfortunately it just missed the mark for me for some reason. It felt a little cringey at times and a little forced. I didn’t feel like I really got to know the characters in depth and there wasn’t much plot other than they want to be together. I think I would have preferred a darker story to balance out all the sweetness. That’s more of a me problem though, I prefer a bit more angst and tension in my romances. Would recommend for anyone who just wants a quick rom com to get you in the autumn spirit.

This is the first in the new Fix-It Witches series, and I can not wait to read more!

This book has everything you didn’t know you needed, a bisexual virgin baker extraordinaire who is cursed in love (literally), a witch whose special skill is fixing electrical items, a meddling and elitist witchy family, and a witch-hunter who’s on the prowl.

Danica Waterhouse runs an electrical fix-it store with her cousin, and after a nasty breakup, she made a pact with her cousin to keep their hearts protected and have fun without any of the attachment. There’s just one problem…she’s inexplicably drawn to the sexy baker in town, but she can keep it casual right? Right?!

Titus Winnaker is the owner of Sugar Daddy’s bakery and he is seriously unlucky in love. Like really, really unlucky. So when Danica starts to look his way he doesn’t expect it to go any better than his last endeavors at romance.

This book was thoroughly delightful and I liked all of the characters so, so much. I just wanted more of their magical background and info on their families because I was so into it all. I can not wait to read the next book!

The audiobook was narrated by Ava Lucas, who I thought did a fantastic job. The audio is ten and a half hours long, but I felt like it flew by, I was so engaged. I seriously kept getting lost in the audio and forgetting what else I was meant to be doing while I was listening.

The cute cover first attracted me to this new novel by Ann Aguirre. It is the first book in the Fix-It Witches series. The story starts with a happy, cute heroine Danica, who also happens to be a witch. She and her cousin run a Fix-It shop for repairing of electronics and appliances. Titus, runs a yummy bakery, yes a cinnamon bun man, is a mortal. Or as this book calls them a mundane. He meets Danica when he asks her to repair his oven.

These two are sweet, lusty and have fun banter. But according to grandma if you become involved with a mundane you lose your powers. Danica's believes her mother chose love over her witchcraft when she married her father. There is a lot to love in this cute set up and premise. I was waiting anxiously to see how the main characters would come together. But the book turns a little for me in some spots. Even though both MC's are enthusiastic in their participation consent is dubious because of spells and witchcraft. The simple solution to the obstacle of their being together was disappointing. Because of it I was frustrated and felt the premise shifted late in the story. There were also several side characters introduced, who I assume will be leads in future books, taking up a lot of the story. I found some parts repetitive and other parts unresolved (witch hunter).

I listened to the audio book narrated by Ava Lucas and she did a great job bringing the characters to life. Overall I enjoyed this fantasy/paranormal romance but I'm hoping the next in the series is even better. Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and Dreamscape Media for the audio book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed listening to this hilarious romantic paranormal read. The characters are interesting and likable. The story was entertaining. I am looking forward to more in this series.

All thoughts and opinions are my own, and in no way have I been influenced by anyone.

Fun and compellingly readable, I listened to the bulk of this audio book in a single day, then finished it the next day. 🤷🏻‍♀️ The main characters are ridiculously likable. I loved them. The story features quirky, star-crossed lovers with a touch of magic. Danica is a modern-day witch with family baggage, and Titus is the town baker who isn’t magical but thinks he’s cursed in love. There’s attraction that literally short circuits electronics, family drama on both sides, and a witch hunter complicating matters.

The paranormal element to this steamy romance makes it a fun fit for this almost-Fall season. Combine the finally cooling weather with all the talk of baked goods in this book and I was compelled to hunt down delicious desserts in my own neighborhood. Happily, my favorite local pizza place also has an amazing bakery, which includes finds like massive chocolate s’mores #swellcookies. Yum!

My main critiques of this adorable novel are that I would have liked to see a bit more personal character development from the two main characters in the first half of the book and that things were a bit too steamy at times for my taste. Still, I’m interested to see where the author takes this as a series. The friend groups featured seem like a hilarious mix with multiple facets and storylines that could be explored.

This was such a fun and entertaining listen. The narrator was perfect. I really loved how easy and captivating the characters were.

This one sounded so cute! I was really excited for it but it ultimately fell flat for me. The writing style was okay but I found the main characters to be annoying and I just didn't really love the plot. Overall the characters were a bit one dimensional and really lacked depth for me. I thought it might get better as I read on but it really didn't. I did like the witchy aspect to the book and I thought the repair business idea was a unique one. I listened to the audio version of this book and I did find that narrator to be nice to listen to.
