I absolutely loved this book! I found it hard to put down. I highly recommend reading it! You won’t be disappointed.

After reading many of highways works I was excited to delve into his memoir. His storytelling is immaculate and intriguing as you go through the stories of his childhood.

An eye-opening look at Tomson Highway's early life and family and his time spent in Residential schools. Full of stories about love and caring as well as trauma and abuse. This book will make you think and have your heart breaking for all the children forced to attend residential schools. Highly recommend! This book was a wonderful read! Tomson Highway takes the reader through pivotal moments in his life, starting all the way from the story of his birth (which is still my personal favourite).

The more I read of this book, the more I found myself really falling in love with Reindeer Lake and feeling really grateful that Highway shared his life with us in this way. In many ways it felt like a gift that was wrapped up neatly in a little bow, inviting us to enjoy all these stories that he has to share. Even though many parts were sad and filled with loss, Highway also infuses it with so much humour and love.
