I couldn't put the book down. The action was non-stop from the very beginning and the characters really grabbed me. Laurel Snow is a genius as well as an FBI Special Agent who excels at profiling. Her specialty is serial killers, so when her Mom calls her for help after her uncle is suspected of a spate of killings, she goes to the rescue.. Along with her high I.Q., Laurel seems to have a hint of autism or something similar. Huck, the State Fish & Wildlife officer who is assigned to help her solve the murders, has personality issues of his own. He suffered PTSD from a traumatic case he closed in the past and is known for being somewhat anti-social. There are feelings that develop between the two that neither want to deal with and it adds to the tension of the story. There are plenty of surprises and the secondary characters were well defined too. This is obviously the beginning of a series as not all the ends are completely tied up. But this is not an actual cliff hangar as most of them are. I really enjoyed this and can't wait for the next in the series..

After finishing You Can Run, I'm waiting on the edge of my seat for the next in the series. Run and add this to your TBR list immediately.

Laurel Snow gets called back to her hometown after the dumping ground of a serial killer is unearthed. The story moves fast from there. I don't want to say much because there is a lot of potential for spoilers, but there are a lot of twists I didn't see coming.

The book is filled with great descriptions of the local area and the characters. I could easily picture Laurel and Huck. Both were characters I really enjoyed too. It has a very atmospheric vibe, too. Over

Once I started this book I could not put it down! Just when I thought I had something figured out, a new twist was thrown in. I was trying to figure out who did it, down to the very end. Laurel Snow is a fascinating character, and I am thrilled that this is the start of a new series, and we will get more books with her! The side characters in this story were also fascinating, and I can’t wait to learn more about them and their storylines. While many questions were answered in this book, we were also left with several unanswered questions that I really want answers to! I can’t wait to read the next book in this series! I can’t believe this was my first Rebecca Zanetti but it definitely won’t be my last. This book is the first in a series following Laurel Snow, a genius FBI profiler. I thought the setup was pretty straightforward. The plot was pretty clever with lots of twists and turns, the pacing was excellent, and the romance was pretty good too, albeit not too steamy. It reminded me a bit of Toni Anderson's work, but a little less dark.

When Laurel gets a call from her mom that there’s a serial killer on the loose in her hometown and her uncle is the prime suspect, she drops everything to return home. To investigate the murders, she has to work with Huck, a fish and wildlife officer, and obviously they develop a connection. Neither one is really looking for a relationship, but they can’t really help developing a connection. You know the drill.

The book is mostly from Laurel’s POV with a few scenes from Huck’s perspective and the serial killer’s. I usually really dislike serial killer POVs but this book wasn’t excessively dark which I appreciated. And although this book is part of a series that’ll follow the same MCs, it ends on a positive note, which is a major plus. I'm really looking forward to the next installment to see where Laurel and Huck's relationship will go and to learn more about their pasts.

If you’re into murder /mystery suspense thrillers with a hint of romance this book is for you!!

It was brilliant from start to finish and an added bonus for me is that I’ve found a new author with a large back book which I intend to now read!!

FBI agent Laurel Snow is a great and unique character. This book finds her back in her home town of Genesis Valley, Washington trying to tack down a serial killer with the help of Fisheries and Wildlife Captain Huck Rivets and it was an absolute page turner.

I had no clue who the killer was, and the author did a wonderful job of making the evidence point to characters that I hoped weren’t guilty.

We find out a lot about Laurel and her family and I really loved the chemistry and connection she developed with Captain Rivers. I would have liked more and I’m hoping to get this from book 2!

This is the first book in a new series by Rebecca Zanetti - if I could give it more than 5 stars I would. I have been on the edge of my seat - wanting to keep reading and a little afraid to find out what would happen next. Laurel Snow is a FBI Special Agent who hunts down serial killers. She is now back in her home town doing just that. Huck Rivers is a fish and wildlife officer who is standoffish and prefers to work alone. They are working together to find the killer and at the same time are drawn to each other. There are so many interesting characters in this book - some are normal and a lot are not. There is horror, angst, mystery, discovery, laughter, tears, some steam and edge of your seat action right till the end. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

I loved this book. The very first page drew me in. I loved the Laurel as a character and her name :) The description of the place, the secondary characters, all of it was interesting to read. I also enjoyed the hint of romance that hopefully will be explored further in the next book. Some of the twists and turns kept me guessing till the end.

Rebecca Zanetti is a talented author. Her style of writing is informative and engaging and the plot drew me in straight away and I didn't put it down until I was finished.

Can't wait to read the next Laurel Snow story :)

‘You Can Run’ isn’t quite the usual Rebecca Zanetti offering of late, but it is definitely one that seems to take her writing in a more ‘serious’, crime/mystery-driven suspense type of story that inches out of the RS category. But it was generally a story that I liked though—I put it down for long periods of time but had no trouble taking it up again—and like many of the RS/mystery-type books, focuses on drawing a web around its main protagonists and delves deep into just how tangled they can get when a series of murders brings to light a small town’s mysteries and secrets.

FBI profiler and child-prodigy Laurel Snow is one who stands out not just because of her unusual appearance, but also because of her somewhat odd-is personality, as though she is sometimes confused by the ‘usual’ social cues that most people pick up on. The pairing of Laurel Snow with Huck Rivers is also an intriguing one, but also one that is very much in its rocky and clunky infancy (their attraction that didn’t seem to be written linearly in its progress somehow), as Zanetti chooses to focus on the rottenness of a church community in Genesis Valley and the sinister links between the pastoral staff, Laurel herself and her newfound family instead. Laurel’s and Huck’s interactions are at this point and by the end of the story, mostly based on the murder mystery, their own internalisations about their vague attraction to each other and then falling into bed with nary a build-up…and not much more progress other than that.

With the many strings dangling enticingly as the story comes to an abrupt close, ‘You Can Run’ is very much the establishing novel in what looks to be a series of books (hopefully). It wasn’t by any means a perfect read—some red-herrings just felt more annoying, serving as turntables rather than actual moments that led to reader-questioning and some scenes did look like filler—but it was one that was engrossing enough that I wanted to know how Zanetti would resolve Laurel/Huck’s fledgling relationship and the new road Laurel takes in the second book.

This story starts out with a bang and doesn’t let up until the very end!

FBI Special Agent Laurel Snow is pulled off her DC assignment to go to her family’s aid. When a group of quad riders come across the gruesome remains of at least twelve victims, Laurel’s uncle, a grave digger, is brought in for questioning. She knows he couldn’t have done anything so heinous, but can she prove him innocent?

Washington Fish and Wildlife Officer Huck Rivers is a loner and likes it that way. He has demons of his own and works better without a partner (except for his service dog), but with a possible serial killer on his mountain, Huck is forced to play nice with the feds.

The deeper into the case Laurel and Huck get, the closer the danger comes. Unexpected revelations come to light, throwing the agent into turmoil and makes her second-guess everything she thought she knew about her life.

There are numerous twists to this storyline that kept me guessing right to the end.

You Can Run introduces new heroine Laurel Snow with a bang. A rising star in the FBI, Laurel profiles serial killers and she’s going home to investigate a whole lot of dead bodies. A child prodigy, Laurel is smart, tough, and a little awkward and quickly wins over the reader with her sheer doggedness. Huck , the local fish and wild life officer, is tasked with heading the case with Laurel. Tall, dark, and brooding, Huck is pretty dreamy and you will root for the couple to hookup. The bodies pile up and the danger comes knocking as Laurel will uncover some unsavory secrets while trying to outsmart a killer. Action packed with a side of romance, this book is one you won’t want to put down. I am addicted, give me book two already, lol. This is my first time reading a Rebecca Zanetti romantic suspense novel and I wasn't disappointed. The first in a series, it follows Laurel Snow, an FBI criminal profiler ala 'Criminal Minds' style investigating a serial murder in her hometown of Genesis Valley, Washington.

At the start, I nearly DNFed as I thought the book suffered from the 'Perfect White Main Character' syndrome as Laurel was beautiful, talented, brilliant (a child prodigy) and even had heterochromatic eyes. However, as I pushed through the novel, I realized that Ms. Zanetti's descriptions of Laurel's behavior and appearance were purposeful and well-reasoned. Everything in it's own time indeed.. Laurel's interactions with other characters like Huck and Abigail were well-nuanced and not one-note, and by the end of the novel I was fascinated with her characters and looking forward to more novels about them.

I did however feel the ending was rather sudden and I did feel that there could be further foreshadowing as to who the true killer was, but this is a minor quibble and I am waiting eagerly to read the next novel in this series.

This is one of the best damn suspense-thrillers I've read! And I was totally engaged in the story and with all of the characters. There was
excellent writing ( as always) and a brilliant ending! So many possible villains and yet when the killer is finally exposed, I didn't see that coming but it made absolute sense. Well done! And now I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

The first book of a new series that promises to be addictive =D

I'm a big fan of Rebecca Zanetti, of her urban fantasy novels but ESPECIALLY of her suspense romances =D So when I saw that she was going to write a new series with an FBI agent specializing in the study of behavior and serial killers ... * squeals of joy*

What I particularly liked :
- the decor which is brilliantly set from the first pages : the small town in the middle of nowhere in winter, the icy atmosphere, the family secrets ... The writing style makes you really have the impression to be there !!
- the plot which is carried out brilliantly from start to finish =D The investigation is twisted to perfection (so many potential suspects !! And I loved having POVs of the victims from time to time and that of the killer too ><) and I must admit that I did not see the identity of the culprit coming ! And of course, the subplots are just as addicting !! I especially liked the family secrets of a certain character (OMG I was SO NOT expecting it !!!)
- the characters who are the best strong point of this book : they are human, endearing, with qualities and faults and also a lot of secrets ! I had a crush on Laurel who made me think a lot about Carrie Wells in the series Unforgettable (who I love so much ><) and I loved watching her mind work (her difficulties with others, her intelligence, her courage ...) but my biggest crush is Dr. Abigail Caine (a character so fascinating but also disturbing ... I have always had a crush on sociopaths =D)
- romance !! Very light in this first book concerning the feelings (not for the rest ><) but I loved seeing the characters flirt =D And as I like slow burns a lot, I don't mind waiting =)
- this end !! Awesome !! And there are so many questions for the future !! I can't wait =D

In short, the first book of a great series with very twisted plots =D For fans of Deep Ops series, I recommend it !! (and for suspense romance fans too x))

This is the first in a new series by Rebecca Zanetti. The novel follows prodigy criminal profiler Laurel Snow as she returns home to investigate a serial killer. The story is set in an area near Seattle during the winter. The storyline focuses more on the hunt for a serial killer and has small elements of romance.
In some ways I feel setting your main character as a genius prodigy criminal profiler make her a bit hard to relate to and also be believable, but I also find that it is a somewhat common trope and I didn't have a big issue with it in this novel. For someone who is a criminal profiler, who should be good at reading people, she doesn't know how to relate to others well or build relationships. Again, a common enough character profile.
The main romantic lead is a protective alpha-male figure. It's a romance, what do you expect?
I found the storyline to be engaging and the surprise twists with the family background interesting enough. I liked some of the side characters more than the main characters and wouldn't mind reading more about them. As the first in the series, the novel did a decent job of keeping my attention. I would certainly read another novel from Zanetti in this series.

I am going to preface this by saying (again) that I am a HUGE Rebecca Zanetti fan. I was thrilled when I saw that she had a new series starting and was excited to be able to preview the ARC.

This is a slightly different plotline from what we have currently seen from Ms. Zanetti in that we get to meet an EXTREMELY intelligent FBI Profiler who, while being unbelievably smart, is not the best at reading social cues. Add to that a lone wolf unsociable mountain man who happens to be a Fish and Wildlife Officer that she has to work with....well, let's just say that things get interesting :)

The story behind this new series is that Agent Laurel Snow is an FBI agent who has had much success solving serial killer cases. She does not work very well with others and that works fine for her as she can take on cases that interest her - kind of as a consultant. She gets called home by her mother when it becomes apparent that there might be a killer working in her hometown. After that.....well...things get complicated.

The character of Laurel is an intriguing character. She is easily likeable, even though the reader can see that she is a bit standoffish. I got the impression that it was more because she was unsure of the reactions of others than not wanting to interact with others. She really does have a soft heart.

The male MC in this book had me liking him one second, then wanting to smack him the next. There is lots and lots going on in this town and while the story arc is completed on the major issue, the door is left open for several other things that have yet to be resolved.

Did I like it? Absolutely. Will I be continuing when the next book comes out? Without a doubt :)

Mystery and Suspense is my favorite genre to read, especially when there’s a touch of romance, so you can bet I was excited to read Rebecca Zanetti’s You Can Run.

FBI Agent Laurel Snow receives a phone call from her mother stating her uncle is a suspect in the deaths of several women. Laurel requests to be assigned to the case and returns to her hometown of Genesis Valley, Washington.

Once there, she meets Fish and Wildlife officer Huck Rivers. Laurel is a genius, having finished high school at the age of eleven. Huck is a loner who works primarily in search and rescue missions. He has his own demons from the past to deal with.

The two of them are teamed together to find a serial killer. As you can imagine, sparks fly (in more ways than one).

I like the author’s development of the main characters. Secondary characters are equally intriguing, and I kept trying to guess the killer’s identity up to the end. The story is set in the winter when the climate is brutal and that adds to the suspense.

You Can Run reaches a satisfying conclusion and leaves the story open for future books in the series. I for one look forward to reading more about Laurel and Huck.

Five stars for this one, and I count it as one of my favorite reads this year. Thanks to Net Galley and Kensington Books for an advanced reader copy.

This is an awesome read! I love agent Lauren Snow. Such an interesting character with snark and a brilliant mind. Huck… such a brooding alpha male… there were so many twists and turns in this book and now the door is open to continue exploring all the relationships left hanging. Great start to hopefully a lengthy series! Lots of mystery and intrigue!
