You Can Run is a crime murder mystery thriller with a bit of romance by Rebecca Zanetti. FBI Special Agent Laurel Snow is on her way back to Washington D. C. when she is diverted to her home town of Genesis Valley, Washington. Several bodies have been found on Snowblood Peak. Since she specializes in serial killer cases and the Seattle FBI office is tied up with a big case, she is drawn into the investigation.

As the protagonist, Laurel is reasonably strong, but has some vulnerabilities. She has an eidetic memory and started college when she was 11. With multiple degrees, she has been successful in her career, but doesn’t work with a partner and sometimes misses underlying signals from others in social situations. Captain Huck Rivers is the fish and wildlife officer guiding her to the crime scene. He likes rules and routines and doesn’t like anything disrupting his schedule. Their attraction to each other is only a small part of the story. He seems to have secrets that may or may not have anything to do with the crimes. He also prefers to work alone.

While most of the story is from Laurel’s point of view (POV), there are a few sections with POVs from other individuals. From her unusual background, to her sometimes atypical reflections as she tries to figure out what game the killer is playing with them, to her relentless pursuit of justice for the victims, readers will root for her success. I enjoyed the interplay between Laurel and Huck.

A clever plot with enough twists and red herrings to keep a reader guessing is one of several positives in this novel. The pacing and dialogue are great and the writing style is smooth. As they evolved, the plot facts were intriguing and occasionally unexpected. The suspense builds steadily throughout the story. While the ending was not unexpected, the journey was full of chills and trills that kept me on the edge of my seat from the first page until the end.

The physical world-building was vivid and I could feel the cold, ice, and snow pelting the characters. The author weaved various agencies into the story line without detracting from the flow and action. She also did this with factors affecting Laurel’s personal life. There is one steamy scene about 60 percent into the novel.

Overall, this was a riveting story with compelling and complex characters that kept me fully engaged. It’s skillfully written and chilling and will appeal to readers who enjoy psychological thrillers and police procedurals involving serial killers. The intricacy of the plot plus attention to detail in the world-building made this a definite winner for me. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series. There are relationships to be explored with family, friends, and colleagues as well as whatever the thriller story will be.

An excellent start to a new series. If you enjoyed the character Bones from the tv show then you'll definitely enjoy the heroine Laurel. Laurel is a child prodigy who is now an adult navigating working as an FBI agent. She is paired up with a reclusive, grouchy Fish and Wildlife captain. The side characters in this book are fascinating and terrifying. And one character is more terrifying by the end than all the others. It would be too much of spoiler to say who. It'll be interesting to see how this series and the characters develop over the series but I'm here for it.

This is one of the best damn suspense-thrillers I've read!
I was totally engaged in the story and with the characters.
Excellent writing and brilliant ending!
So many possible villains and yet when the killer is finally exposed, I didn't see that coming but it made absolute sense.

This book was a phenomenal read! I was on the edge of my seat until the very end! I thought I knew who the killer was...but boy was I wrong! This book will grab you from the first page and hold on to you until you finish it! I am always fascinated by child prodigies...and this book has two! Laurel Snow is a fascinating young woman working for the FBI in a field that most people would not want to work in. When she gets too close to the killer, he begins to focus on her. She will be his crowning glory!

And then there's Huck Rivers...a guy who likes to be alone and isn't looking for a relationship. Laurel and Huck have chemistry from the beginning. As the book goes on, it intensifies, until they give in to it. Wowza!

There are many interesting characters in this story...beginning with Laurel's mom, Deidre, who runs an internet-based tea company and creates the teas herself. Then there's Kate...the woman who has 3 daughters and finds a job working with Laurel on finding the Snowblood Peak serial killer...Kate runs the office for Laurel and I'm really hoping there might be a book about her. She was fascinating! And then we meet Abigail Caine - our second child prodigy - who seems to be awfully interested in Laurel...but what is she interested in? The local cops, who don't want to work with the Feds, play a typical role in this book...

I just loved this story and am definitely ready for book 2! Rebecca Zanetti does it again! Buy this book...you won't be disappointed...I promise!

I love when Rebecca Zanetti writes suspense! There’s twists and turns around every corner and page, and just when you’re sure you know what is going to happen next, nope!

Laurel Snow is an FBI agent on her way back to Washington when she gets a call to head home, her uncle is accused of murder. Of course she goes back to her small home town to help, but she could never have expected what happens next.

Huck Rivers is a Fish & Wildlife officer, and he prefers to stick to search and rescue with his trusted dog. But Laurel shows up insisting he help.

Next tho two come across what could only be described a a macabre serial murder dumping ground, and while the sheriff may think Laurel’s uncle is the best suspect, Laurel sees many other suspicious characters, and let me tell you, soon I was thinking half the book was guilty!

By the time the mysteries are unraveling, I was reading gape-mouthed. There was so much going on, I decided I don’t ever want to know what goes on in Zanetti’s head, but I definitely want the next book in this series!

This was an amazing book. Absolutely loved every second of it. Rebecca Zanetti has become one of my favorite authors.

I love this author and have read many of her books. This one is one of the best. I read it in one go, just couldn’t put it down.
This book has it all: great characters, twists and turns, suspense. The story took me by surprise a few times. I know I’m all in when I find myself reacting out loud while reading and that happened a few times on this one.

Huck is a Fish and Wildlife officer who meets Laurel when she returns to her hometown as an FBI profiler. They are at odds in the beginning but soon realize they are more effective when they work together to determine who the serial killer is who has been attacking young blonde women for about two years. There are many twists and turns with the story line and characters, and it kept me guessing who the killer was right to the end. Ms. Zanetti has such a creative mind and I love all her work. I hope there will be many more books with these characters as it is clear there will be many more cases for them to solve. Highly recommended.

We’re introduced to Laurel Snow, FBI agent & Captain Huck Rivers from Fish & Wildlife who’s in charge of search & rescue with his adorable dog Aeneas. It’s always wonderful to see women characters portrayed as strong, smart & independent & you will love Laurel (Huck too of course!!) They are in search of a sick & twisted serial killer in their town. The book & all of it’s characters will grab you from page one & leave you wanting for more in the next book!! It will be interesting to see where the relationship goes between Laurel & Huck (rooting for them!!) and see how crazy Abigail’s character develops. This is the first book for me by this author and it will not be the last. I was sucked into the story right away and didn’t come up for air until I was done. This thriller is intense and has everything I love!

Zanetti’s writing is flawless. She creates a fascinating realistic world that draws you in with characters you just want to know (or smack – depending). The landscape also plays a major role in this story and I felt like I needed to pay close attention so I didn’t miss secrets the landscape might be hiding.

This is without a doubt one of the best suspense books I’ve ever read. So many twists and turns with enough bad guys to keep you guessing. Once the killer is revealed you will be shocked, but it will all become clear. The secondary characters were just as important as the H and h in this story which just made this story so much better. Loved getting to know all of them except for the doctor – she, I’ll need to pay closer attention to!

I’m excited about the next installment! Fingers crossed Huck gets his head out of his a**!

Holy moly! I need to double up on the stars here. This story blew me away. If you like action, suspense and a little romance, this whodunnit with FBI Agent Laurel Snow taking the lead on an investigation into a serial killer in her home town of Genesis Valley, is a definite winner. As a leading profiler in the FBI, Laurel Snow is the best chance Huck Rivers has of catching the serial killer who seems to have taken a liking to his neighbourhood, (heads up, there are some gruesome descriptions of the victims throughout). So many twists and turns in this highly addictive thriller. It would appear that fingers are pointing to a number of suspects, I had theories for each and every one of them. Can they narrow it down and catch the killer before any of their loved ones are taken? I loved the story, I never wanted it to end. I loved the characters, both Laurel and Huck didn’t take any messing, they were straight to the point and methodical, the chemistry between them thrummed, without taking over the story. I can’t wait for more in this series.

FBI Agent Laurel Snow takes a quick detour home after finding out her uncle is suspected of being a serial killer. Laurel is a genius, going to college at age eleven with her mother by her side, and becoming a profiler for the FBI. As smart as she is in some ways, Laurel is lacking in other ways. It’s a wonderful paradox, so smart, especially at figuring out criminals, but so literal in personal interactions that she missed much of the underlying meaning at times. I loved how determined she was, pushing herself to extremes to get the answers she sought. But so vulnerable when emotions are involved.

Fish and Wildlife Captain Huck Rivers was forced to work with Laurel, and found her so different from other women. Laurel was so innocent in many ways. As much as he tried to avoid her, it was his job to find lost hikers with his rescue dog, and then he was assigned to Laurel to find the serial killer.

I had no idea where the clues would lead, and there were some very unexpected twists to this story. I’m looking forward to see where this series goes, because I’m already hooked on Laurel and Huck.

Thoroughly enjoyed this new series, looking forward to the next installment. As usual, Rebecca has given us characters that are believable. Each has their own flaws, strengths, and secrets. Her stories have a full cast of characters that support and play well off each other. You believe the love, friendship and even animosity they have for one another. The chemistry between Laurel and Huck is apparent to everyone, except maybe them. The story keeps you guessing providing many avenues the plot can take. Who is this illusive serial killer? Just when are confident you have sleuthed your way to the truth, you may be surprised!

A very, very high 4 for this great suspense novel (with a dash of romance) by Rebecca Zanetti, one of my newer favorite authors. In it, Laurel Snow, a singularly remarkable FBI agent, returns to her hometown in Washington state hot on the trail of a serial killer. At the same time, she faces uncomfortable truths about her past that could change her future.

Because the killer's hunting ground crosses both state and federal lines, Laurel finds herself working with a reclusive Fish & Wildlife agent, Captain Huck Rivers. Attraction clearly sparks between the two of them, but the focus of this novel is more on the serial-killer case and Laurel's complicated background. The story is filled with ups and downs, with both exciting and introspective moments; the one thing it never is is dull.

Laurel is an especially interesting character. Her appearance is what most people notice first about her, from her unusual auburn hair to her heterochromatic eyes. But it's her brain that really sets her apart. A child prodigy, she went to college at age 11, and by the time we meet her in this book--just shy of her 30th birthday--she has several academic degrees under her belt and is a respected FBI agent and profiler. As is not uncommon with geniuses, her social skills are somewhat lacking. That said, I feel like she's a lot more adjusted than the author intended for her to be. I guess I don't feel like she was as socially awkward as the descriptive passages tell us that she is. I'm not sure if I explained that well; it's hard to put my finger on it exactly.

As a hero, Huck is great. He's big and growly and protective, and he's both fascinated and bemused by Laurel. He has his own issues that drive his personality, but he still seems comfortable in his own skin. He and Laurel make a great team both personally and professionally, even though they're still feeling out the personal part of that relationship.

The book seem to wrap up a little faster than I would have liked, and while it definitely has an ending, it leaves room for another Laurel Snow adventure. In fact, I didn't realize that this book had the parenthetical subtitle of Laurel Snow #1 until I went to Goodreads, which suggests a series with Laurel and likely Huck as the protagonists. I'm not normally a fan of private eye/detective/investigator series, but with this one, I find I'm excited about the prospect.

You can run is a new series by one of my favourite authors and features a woman by the name of Laurel Snow. Suffice to say, she is an FBI Agent and her mind is brilliant which puts her in a league all on her own and makes this story that much more interesting🤩

When Laurel’s mom calls to ask her for help, she drops everything and returns home to find herself embroiled in a serial killer case and more questions than answers😳 I loved this series and the new characters and I can’t wait to learn more about all of these intriguing people and their hometown, especially Huck, Abigail and Laurel’s quest to find her father.

Laurel Snow is an FBI profiler who gets pulled in on a case when she goes home to check on her mother. Huck Rivers is a local Fish and Wildlife officer who usually stays to himself and does search and rescue, but his unique skills and familiarity with the mountain in question draws him into the case as well. Family situations for Laurel in the area complicate things and strange happenings that keep occurring make it all the more puzzling. They know they are after a serial killer but the answers keep eluding them.

This is a very well written thriller and I learned some interesting stuff too reading this book. It kept me up late last night waiting to see who the killer was and how other situations would turn out. I have a feeling I'm going to have to wait for the next book in the series to get a couple of those answers.

I loved You Can Run by Rebecca Zanetti and read it start to finish in one sitting! FBI Special Agent Laura Snow, a profiler, is called back home to the Pacific Northwest in the hunt for a serial killer which could possibly be a family member. Rebecca Zanetti never ceases to amaze me. What a great book. This is the story of FBI Special Agent Laurel Snow and her search for a serial killer in her hometown in order to clear her uncle as a suspect. She meets Captain Huck Rivers who is used to working on his own and they get thrown into this case and forced to collaborate in order to find the killer. There are so many twists and turns and sex,romance, adventure. I never wanted to finish the book and at the same time I wanted to know who the killer was(never saw that one coming).

This is a must read. If you like Rebecca's books(what's wrong with you if you don't), then you will absolutely love this book. Brilliant!
