Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley. My review opinions are my own
This is a book about a dog with severe PTSD and fears that traumatize it beyond acceptable normal behavior.
The owners are a loving couple who refuse to give up on this wonderful dog and work with each and every professional they can to rectify his behavior. They find through this process a great love for this pup and for each other that bonds them as a family. I highly recommend this for all dog lovers and those that do rescue. it is charming sweet story with the love of a great dog at the heart of the story.

I got to read this charming book courtesy of NetGalley and read it in just a few days. I found it an easy read with not too much complicated plot. It didn't have a whole lot going on other than the anxiety issue and learning how to "parent" their new dog. It was cute, engaging and well researched. I loved the ending and all that they learned and gained as a couple, as individuals, and as dog owners. It felt like a fiction book meets nonfiction and memoir at times.

As someone else says, "the story describes their ups and downs as they bond, discover solutions, fail, and try again and again until they ultimately find a new lifestyle that pleases everyone in the household."

I'm intrigued to read Meredith's first book about her childhood and bees. Loving Edie hinted here and there about her past, which I liked.

I did feel like some parts were really detailed and then the end sped up too fast in conclusion. Though it was a good ending, I felt like it could have been dragged out a little bit more to feel more consistent with the flow of the rest of the book.

I love heartwarming dog books and this didn't disappoint. A cute story, 3.5 stars.

Jenn and Meredith adopt a Golden Retriever puppy who turns out to be afraid of almost everything. This is their search for ways to alleviate the dog's fears. They try various behaviour therapists, dog play groups, medication, an animal communicator- and very slowly bring their beloved dog around. In the process, they learn about themselves and their own fears in life.

An excellent how-to guide, told in experiential form, for dog lovers on working with dogs who have troubling personality and behaviour issues.

LOVING EDIE is the rare memoir that tells as much about the owners as about the animal at the heart of the story. Edie is a puppy filled with fear, despite her owners loving attention and previous dog experience. The story describes their ups and downs as they bond, discover solutions, fail and try again and again until they ultimately find a new lifestyle that pleases everyone in the household. As another human with a dog filled with fear, I know the experience intimately and have traveled this road myself. It’s a tough journey but well worth it in the end. I found this book charming, engaging and honest; it was a joy to read. I received my copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
