Let me say I do like this author and her books. There is a thriller aspect, but I found it kind of boring. The characters felt repetitive at times. There were some creepy and interesting elements, but it was alright.

As much as the book satisfied my thriller thirst, the mystery was not that strong. The five narrators tried their best to contribute to the plot, but many of the details were unnecessary and the conclusion was abrupt. Hopefully these details were edited before publishing, as mine was an uncorrected proof. The violence described in the book actually had a negative impact on my overall mood.
The proof had 49 chapters and took me 2 and a half weeks approximately to finish. Recommended to the fans of general adult fiction and mystery novels.

Great domestic suspense thriller! It was nothing super memorable, but it was still an entertaining read.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for gifting me a copy.
This book had a lot of stereotypes and religious extremism that was overall just over the top. That being said, I will be looking forward to reading more of the author’s thrillers

This book includes some pretty heavy topics and a lot of POV's. I think 2 POV's would've been sufficient instead of 5. I was starting to get confused and lost at times. The ending did leave me quite shocked though.

Somebody's Home is a slow burner of a thriller featuring a cast of interesting characters on a collision course. When Julie, the wealthy and beautiful wife of famed property developer Roger Jones, decides she cannot take another minute in her unhappy marriage she buys a house in Oceanside (on the wrong side of Oceanside according to her teenage daughter Jess) she gets a lot more than she bargained for. There is a small carriage home/shed along with the house-occupied by Tom, the young adult son left behind by the former owner of the house. Julie was told he has three days to pack up. Tom-with complete hatred towards his father and now the woman who bought his family home-has a plan-and that plan is to never leave. With Rouda's trademark twists, intricate plot development and captivating story-telling-this is not one to miss.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

Unfortunately, Somebody’s Home wasn’t for me. It did have potential. The opening chapters suggested something very sinister was going on. Therefore, I was expecting a much darker book with plenty of action. However, the story was very much a slow burner. It only picked up pace in the last chapters and then the conclusion felt a bit too rushed.

Another thing that kept me from enjoying this book was the characters. Although the author does try to muster up some sympathy for them, while also attempting to make each character more complex, I couldn’t build a condition with any of them. While I accept that some of the characters were not supposed to be liked by the reader, they were more irritating than love-to-hate.

Somebody’s Home did touch on some deeper topics: self-loathing, rich/poor divide, anti-Semitism, to name a few. However, it felt like they were rushed and not very well researched, especially the latter. The best theme the book had going for it was a mother’s unfaltering love for her child.

Unfortunately, I had to DNF this title. I made it a third of the way and just couldn't get into it. The characters were too unlikeable for me; they had too many issues that were not acceptable to me. I really enjoyed get other books, but this one just didn't have me hooked.

*Thank you @letstalkbookspromo and @amazonpublishing for the copy. Review not posted to Amazon/Goodreads because less than 4 stars or DNF.*

Unfortunately it doesn't live up to how much I loved Best Day Ever. Somebody's Daughter reads very perfunctory. Each character you follow does 1,2,3,4 and then another chapter with each character doing 1,2.3.4 etc... There was no flow. Tom as a young incel was an interesting character to see life through his point of view. Most of the other characters were naive and out of touch with reality which was annoying.

A brilliant and unputdownable thriller that once I started I couldn’t put down. This is a page turner of a read

I loved this book! It is creepy & thrilling and I enjoyed following the characters along for the ride. I struggled to put this one down!

Intriguing, fast-paced and full of twist and turns, Somebody's Home is definitely a page turner packed with very unlikeable characters. It's entertaining to see where it will all lead, but not caring much about the characters makes it difficult to stay enganged.

Where to start with this one.....

Well, the beginning had my attention. I was intrigued and wanted to know who was in the house. Then things got weird. Not in a good way.

This was a DNF for me woth only an hour left to spare on the audiobook I had procured.

There was A LOT of triggering things happening. Like almost anything the author couple possibly think of, it was there. I have no triggers, but I was... irritated... disgusted... and wondering where the heck this interesting story had gone.

There is Naziz/white supremacy, toxic masculinity, rich vs poor (I'm better than you), toxic religious views, abuse, possible shooting/mass shooting (I stopped before this event), pristitution rings, and more.

Originally I was drawn in, as this book takes place in the town I live in. I was like sweet, I can relate. As things started happening, it was just one toxic trait after another and the book was no longer enjoyable.

The women (mothers) were the only kinda good part. They were both trying to protect their children from all this bad stuff happening around them. But I couldn't hold onto the storyline long enough to see if the prevailed in their quest.

I wish I had better things to say about this one. But if you have any triggers listed above, I'd pass over this one.

I have heard the authors' other works are very good, though. So maybe check one of those out instead.

I really enjoy books by this author but this one fell flat for me. A woman buys a house and moves herself and her daughter in an attempt to end her marriage and start fresh. Her new home comes with a tenant in the garden house who refuses to leave.
The lives of the former owners collide with the new owner to form most of the story.
I felt the story was very slow and I didn't like any of the characters. This one was a struggle to finish unfortunately.
This won't be my last book by this author even though I wouldn't recommend it.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Julie Jones and her daughter, Jess, thought they were leaving behind Julie's suffocating marriage and headed for a new fresh start. Boy, were they wrong. Unfortunately for me, the characters didn't have enough depth to them to allow me to form an emotional attachment to them. However, I did like how the different POV's and how they all seemed to flow well together.

The plot was slow to begin with and then about halfway through it started to pick back up. The ending built up tension and left you wanting to finish so you can see how everything wraps up. Overall, it was a quick read and I did enjoy the ending.

The book is very well written, full of suspense that keeps you glued to the end. Julie leaves her domineering husband, just to be actually (sort of) tortured by another man. Gripping read, will read more in future.

Yeah... definitely not my favorite Kaira Rouda read, but entertaining nevertheless. I will however eagerly await and read every single one of the dysfunctional books she writes.

this was my first book by this author and i pretty much enjoyed it. the home invasion thriller trope is a fav of mine, and this was a decent addition to books following a similar theme. I am ending up with a 3 star here because while i mostly enjoyed my time with it i never really cared that much about the characters and it did feel a bit predictable, good but not a standout

Although the storyline sounded intriguing to me it needed up just being an ok read for me. Surprisingly because I usually love this authors work.
