Wow!
This is a psychological suspense novel that had me going in all different directions!

When Julie takes her daughter,Jess and leaves her wealthy, dishonest, deceitful husband and moves to the "other side of the tracks" she is expecting backlash, but she is not in any way prepared for what happens over the coming days!
The previous home owners, a pastor and his wife have asked that their son, Tom, remain in the carriage house for a few days to pack his things.
Julie agrees until she realizes he has no intention of moving.
Tom has his own agenda before he can leave "His" home and he is going to complete this task no matter what!
No body will stop him!

Without giving anything away, just do yourself a favor, make yourself comfortable and prepare to read this book in a day!
Well done!

Well this was a fast paced story and i absolutely loved it but I enjoy Kaira’s books.. I cant say i liked any of the characters but they did have personalities. I was definitely at the edge of my seat the whole time due to the suspense and twists and turns and i for sure recommend.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer Publisher for my advanced copy of this book.

My thoughts and opinions are my own

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this copy. I was really looking forward to it - I have enjoyed Keira’s other books. But this just didn’t it for me. I found most of the characters to be unlikable and the story line far-fetched.

Wow. This was an interesting story line. At first I thought it was going to be similar to another book I read where someone was hiding in the house without the family knowing, I was wrong. The family knows he is there, they are just given misinformation about when he is leaving....or if he is leaving.

This book was fast paced and make you want to keep reading to find out what in the world was going on. Unfortunately I can't say that any of the characters were likable. I understand why they need to be the way they are for the story, but I just wish I was rooting for one of them. Overall a good quick suspense.

Tension Mounting Suspense….
A seemingly perfect family, but not all is as it seems and suddenly one weekend changes everything. Told from multiple perspectives this is a slow burn, tension mounting suspense with a suitably unlikeable cast of characters and encompassing some very dark, disturbing themes dealt with sleight of hand. Engaging reading.

I just want to start off by saying that I absolutely adore Kaira Rouda! I follow her page on Facebook and she is so adorable and down to earth! This is also the third book that I have read by Kaira Rouda, and it definitely will not be my last.
Somebody’s Home is a fast paced read. This book deals with real life issues, and unfortunately some very disturbing issues. Although the majority of the characters were not very likable, they each had their own very personal experiences in life to deal with.
While we do know what is going to happen towards the end of the book, the intensity will keep you on the edge of your seat! A true nail biter for sure! I would love to see (or rather read) a sequel to this book.
I highly recommend reading Somebody’s Home, as it has the perfect amount of drama and suspense.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer Publisher for my advanced copy of this book! Date of release January 18, 2022.

Thank you Netgalley & Kaira for the opportunity to read and review this book for an honest review.

I L O V E D this book!!! Un-put-downable thriller!!
Kaira writes in a way where you feel both empathy and hate, simultaneously, for all main characters (maybe just hate for a couple). Written in multiple POVs, each chapter leaves you with uncertainty and anticipation for the next.

Since I’m from and reside in SoCal, I really enjoyed knowing the settings firsthand: from Los Angeles to Oceanside to Temecula. It’s an oddly satisfying feeling.
Roger owns one of the largest real estate firms in the OC. But Roger is not really a “family man.” He just likes having the picture perfect family. His wife Julie is fed up and moves her and her daughter to another side of Oceanside…a not so glamorous part. And Jess, their daughter, is not amused. She is used to having daddy’s CC and living in a McMansion that she can show off. But little do they know that they moved into a house with a tenant that refuses to leave. Tom’s family sold the house to Julie without his knowledge. Leaving him with little time to find a place. But he has no plans to do so.

Exhilarating and chilling. ⭐️ 5 stars ⭐️

I love Kaira Rouda's novels, so when I saw she had a new come coming out soon, I knew immediately I wanted to read it. It did not disappoint.

Told from alternating points of view, "Somebody's Home" is the story of unrest in a small town. It's the type of town where there's a "right" side of the tracks and a "wrong side." Jess grew up on the right side - rich, spoiled, and never giving a thought to the people across town. Her mother, Julie, finally left her emotionally abusive marriage and is starting over. Her first plan is moving - to the "wrong" side of town where she's no longer rich but is much happier. Her husband Roger is not okay with losing his wife and daughter. He's used to getting what he wants. Always.

Tom, meanwhile, is living in the guest house of Julie's new home. He has until the weekend to move out, but he has no intention of doing so. His stepmother Sandi is also building the courage to leave her husband, the emotionally abusive Pastor Doug, who has been kicked out of his church for taking advantage of parishioners. Sandi loves her stepson, even though he is clearly headed down the wrong path, but the young man's father will not be bothered with such a loser as his eldest child.

These people who didn't know of each other mere days ago now all have their fates entwined and are heading toward an explosive event that will change all of their lives forever. Unless one of them can stop it.

The author knows how to build tension and does so with great skill in this novel. It starts off kind of slowly, but once I got about halfway through the story, I couldn't finish it quickly enough - I was on the edge of my seat and needed to know what was going to happen. The finale was breathtaking in its emotional rawness - hatred and love collide in a shocking scene that the reader won't soon forget.

I received an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review

I loved this one. Very fast paced, had me turning pages as I tore through it – I had to see how it would end. The characters were well rounded and the narrative felt believable. Wild ride.. Solid five. Definitely my favorite of all her books so far

“A quiet neighborhood. A lovely home. A promising new beginning. In a heartbeat everything can change.”

Julie is tired of her fake life in the exclusive wealthy community of Oceanside. Her marriage is a joke, no connection or love, represented in image only. She leaves her controlling husband with their daughter quietly one morning while her husband is away. She feels free and looking forward to their new life of peace. A weekend changes everything and peace is the last thing she gets….A 5 star thriller, surprises all the way around! Shocking and not what you expect! Another must read from Kaira Rouda 📚

What if your home is not the safe place you expect it to be? Julie leaves her husband with her daughter Jess and hopes for a fresh start in a different house away from her uncaring husband. Tom, the old owners son, lives in the carriage house on the property and is given two days to move out. He is very creepy and soon befriends Julie's daughter Jess. Things become tense as Julie begins to wonder if Tom even intends to move out. Tom's dangerous looking friends start visiting the carriage house at all hours and are acting strange. Events get even more intense when Jess realizes Tom's intentions and she is horrified. I found the story riveting and enjoyed it from the beginning to the end.

A story told from different points of view. The characters were well described but for some reason this book did not hold my attention like Kaira's previous books, and I dont know why!

Julie nd her daughter are getting away from Julie's controlling husband, and moving into a new home. Unfortunately someone is already living there. This book is crazily unputdownable! Fantastic and so fun! Thnk you thank you thank you! She is easily one of my new favorite authors!

3.6 Rounded up
Julie Jones has left Roger, her controlling wealthy husband and is moving to a new home in Oceanside, CA in northern San Diego County. Her teenage daughter Jess isn’t as excited about leaving her life with dad.!.

As Julie is setting in she finds someone else is there.

Tom Dean the adult son of the previous owner; Pastor Doug and his wife Sandi told their son that they are moving to a new home but Tom is not going with them and needs to get a job and pay his own expenses. He is to vacate the carriage house and they are praying for him.

Story is told with multiple POV ~ Julie, Jess, Roger, Tom~ the unwanted somebody, and Sandi~ the stepmom and wife of Pastor Doug.
At first I found most of these characters so unlikeable, I had a hard time keeping focused.
Hmm then things got interesting ~ very interesting ~ yep! Sure turned out much better than I had thought; it soon became a page-turner for me.

This is my third Kaira Rouda novel ~ she does not disappoint!

Note: In one of Tom’s chapters he mentioned that it never rains in Southern California in October and it typically a time for fire destruction and Santa Ana winds. However, while reading this we had a major thunder/lightning storm come in to Orange. San Diego & LA Counties and actually delayed a football game and the comment was it never rains in October!

Want to thank NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for this eGalley. This file has been made available to me before publication in an early form for an honest professional review.

When Julie leaves her husband and buys a home with her daughter Jess, little does she know that the person staying in the carriage house is not willing to leave! This book is written by the perspective of the characters, but so very well told! I look forward to reading more books by Kaira Rouda!

This is a decent domestic thriller, probably my favourite I’ve read by the author. It’s from all the viewpoints of the characters which I enjoy because you really get to see each of their perspectives which, makes for a richer story. The author tends to write characters that are hard to like or care about but some of these ones are the most “likeable” (or at least tolerable) that I’ve read in her books. If you don’t need your protagonists to be relatable or someone you’re rooting for than I think you’ll be fine. Overall it’s a quick book, the author has good descriptions that help you tear through it quickly enough. Not an overwhelming recommendation but definitely not a really bad book.

I normally refuse to not finish a book but I can’t make myself keep reading this. Very misleading book on what it’s about (not a suspense book), also I don’t enjoy reading about religion. On top of this book not being what I expected the writing is terrible! This is my first Kaira Rouda book and probably my last,

Thank you to Netgalley as well as the publisher Thomas & Mercer for the ARC.

3.5 / 5 stars, rounding down here on NetGalley

I like the premise of the story, but I could see where it was going the entire time. There was a side storyline that was surprising, and that kept it more interesting. I didn’t like any of the characters, they all just seemed kind of obvious. I do like the way the story ended, and I will keep reading this author.
