There were so many wonderful characters in this book and stories of grief, loss, heartbreak, betrayal, forgiveness, romance and love. The Barefoot B&B was being renovated and would serve to help women who had been abused and wanted a fresh start. The Barefoot Sisterhood group was by invitation only and was a group of women who were diverse; each with their own story and challenges. As they worked together to bring this beautiful Inn back to something that could offer a fresh start for so many, they formed friendships and relationships that would be long-lasting.

I stayed up way too late reading to finish the book because it was so hard to put it down. I felt like I wanted to be a member of the sisterhood group. Some of their struggles are universal with women and some were unique, but all were life altering.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I am certain it will not be the last.

I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.

There is a huge cast of characters, but somehow (kudos to Lindsay Harrel) I was able to keep track of everyone with enough context each time that I was able to make connections. This story was gentle and poignant, with themes of sisterhood. I loved following Jenna and Elise's stories and getting to know the Barefoot sisterhood. I can't believe I waited so long to read this book, I look forward to reading more in this series!
This was a sweet story, I'd rate PG for kissing and mention of self-worth, mental illness, teen pregnancy, and infidelity in a marriage.
Although there is an interconnected series (Walker Beach), this is the first book in a new series and can totally stand on its own.

The best women's fiction I've ever read!
Trust me I read a lot
There's some Allura of touching your deepest heart feelings.. There is something more than beautiful when the church of God comes together as individuals to help each other , hope with each other, travel, and share this journey on earth
The feelings I felt through this read weren't simply because it's a nice book...it's because of the way I felt and wanted to be a better person and enjoy myself and improve myself and help my ppl

Don't get me wrong, the book isn't preachy, I don't remember reading any particular scripture or sermonal message...what I felt was how they were being flawed humans turning and tuning their hearts to Hope in God, Love and To be loved...to know him..to want to do better..to want to give best for their Children...to want to cherish and be cherished
The way the characters and story wanted to live , change and help is what made me connect to this book

Definitely Recommended!!

Having escaped from an abusive relationship and settled in Walker Beach, Jules wants to create a refuge at the rundown Barefoot B&B. She gathers together a group of women (the Sisterhood), all struggling with their own issues, but keen to help get the project off the ground: Jenna wants to prove herself to be more than just a teenage mum, and Elise, who’s adult children no longer need her.

I enjoyed The Inn at Walker Beach. It’s a gentle story, with several different strands all running at once. While the main story rotates between Jenna and Elise, there are many secondary characters who all have their parts to play, as the B&B/refuge comes to fruition. With romance and heartache, plus determination and friendship, it’s a great book for curling up on a winter’s evening with. Just follow your dreams!

This was my first read by Lindsay Harrel and I cannot wait to read the next book in this series as well as some of her backlist. This book was engaging and tackled some hard topics like the importance of mental health. I appreciate the author working through real-life issues in the characters’ lives.

I did have some trouble keeping the supporting characters straight at the beginning of the book but I think that is because I hadn’t read any of the Walker Beach series before this one. Harrel did provide some background on the characters that helped me sort out who was who before long.

Thank you to Blue Aster Press and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This is a very well written and emotional book. Women dealing with their issues, who can’t relate? We all have something we are dealing with. I love that these women come together and support each other, of course not without a bit of drama.

Elisa drove me a little crazy, because I wanted her to take better care of herself and stand up for herself. She does start to do that and more things develop as the book unfolds.

Overall, a very good read.

A copy of this book was given to me through Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Lindsay Harrel’s new series, The Barefoot Sisterhood, starts with this fantastic novel, The Inn at Walker Beach. This series is about a group of women that are brought together by Jules, the new owner of the Inn at Walker Beach. These women all are suffering in silence about something in their lives. Jules has this special gift of being able to see someone hurting and brings them together to heal. The Inn at Walker Beach focuses on two of these ladies, Jenna and Elisa. Jenna is a single mother, who got pregnant very young and struggled with depression and is clawing her way out. Elisa is struggling with the infidelity of her husband of many years and feeling like she’s no good to anyone anymore. The Sisterhood and the restoration of the inn brings these ladies together to heal and find their purposes in life again. This was my first book by Harrel but it certainly won’t be the last. Her ability to create beautiful storylines and realistic characters bring the stories alive so much so that you feel like you are part of the story. I highly recommend The Inn at Walker Beach.

The Barefoot Sisterhood is started in this book and focuses on all of the members but specifically two members. Readers get to learn how this group is started and for what purpose. I was eagerly awaiting this release and it did not disappoint. This series is an extension of the author’s last series. This book focuses on Jenna, a single mom. The other main character is Elise. Both ladies are a part of the sisterhood, because of their backgrounds. Once the group is formed, readers will be able to see the transformation in the women’s lives. I am looking forward to the next book in this series! This book will give readers hope and encouragement. I highly recommend this book and know that you will not be disappointed!
***I was given a free electronic copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review. This is my honest opinion. Even though I received this copy free, I have purchased her books before.

I must say that Harrel has done a marvelous job with this book.
Her characters are simply so realistic that I felt like I was in the story with Elise and Jenna.
I think that Elise is my favorite character. Why? Because I feel just like her most of the time. Out in limbo, nowhere to fit in etc. I found myself rooting for her really I did.
There's some places in the book that will make you laugh cry and want to hug these women simply for being who they are.
I love Harrel's style of writing! I'm always looking forward to seeing what she comes out with next!
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Thank you NetGalley, Lindsay Harrel and Blue Aster Press for the book The Inn at Walker Beach. This is my personal review.
This book is one that every woman should read. We all need someone in our lives who we can turn to and this has just that in it. The Inn at Walker Beach is about single mom Jenna and Elsie, who is an older mom who needs to find where she fits in to the lives of her grown children.
The women in this book will draw you into their lives. The emotions that reading this brought out are so real.

I loved this book, but more importantly I needed this book. I am closer to the age of Elise than of Jenna. And I think the story of Elise and Charles was an important reminder of how important communication and paying attention is in a marriage.
I loved the premise of this book
I loved the variety of the characters in this story and that there were so many hidden depths in them. And there is the promise of their stories to be revealed in future books. I’m all in for this series. Great job Lindsay!

The inn at Walker Beach is going to be restored, as a refuge for women. Jules has a plan and as she sets her plan in motion, she invites some women to the sisterhood. She also invites the community to volunteer their time to help get the inn restored.
The story shares with us about a 27-year-old single mother, Jenna, who was always working trying to give her son a better life, and a sixty-three-year-old mother, Elise, whose six kids have all grown up, and her husband is always traveling, who doesn't feel needed any more.
The women in the sisterhood, at first, doesn't open up, but eventually starts talking about what their dreams are, what their needs are. This is an uplifting story of women being there for each other, being supported, and realizing they aren't alone. It also shows us what happens when a dream comes true, as it is nice to dream about something and set the goal, but what happens when it happens.
No, it isn't a perfect world, it is women coming together, the community coming together, and seeing what happens, when people have a purpose, are encouraged, and can think about what it truly is they want to do with their lives. It inspired me.
I received an ARC from Blue Aster Press through NetGalley.

What a way to start a new series! I absolutely could not get enough of this beautiful story! Lindsay Harrel has such a way of creating beautiful characters that draw you into their lives, and The Inn at Walker Beach was an absolute prime example of that!

The first book in The Barefoot Sisterhood series focusses on single mom Jenna who has battled with depression for many years, as well as sixty-seven year old Elise who is searching for her new purpose now that her children are grown and she's in a new stage of life. These two women are at very different stage in their lives, but I must admit that there were parts of each of them I could relate to, and I think that this is something that women are definitely going to see throughout this series as well--- so many different women were introduced that they are likely to see themselves in bits and pieces throughout each of them. And while we may have only gotten glimpses at some of these other women so far, it was certainly enough to draw me in and have me wanting to know more about their stories too. Of course, I personally enjoyed the romance in the story too, but I definitely feel like even those who aren't particularly looking for a romance novel will be able to appreciate this story too. I cannot wait to see what happens next in this series!

**I received a complimentary copy for consideration. All thoughts are my own.

I've been craving a book like this for a long time! Lindsay Harrel knocked it out of the park with this sweet romance with an intergenerational storyline. Thanks to Netgalley and Blue Aster Books for the complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review.

The Inn at Walker Beach features several characters we know and love from Harrel's other Walker Beach books but kicks off a new series that I am super excited to read: The Barefoot Sisterhood. This book focuses primarily on Elise, a woman who has raised her six children and feels that her purpose is now missing, especially with the recent betrayal by her husband, and Jenna, a single mom who is just finding her way in the world. Lindsay Harrel does a marvelous job of weaving in personal and spiritual growth along with romance as we watch these women transform the Barefoot Inn into a haven of refuge.

Don't hesitate to snag this one- I couldn't put it down!

This book is not the light hearted romantic comedy like I normally read but that doesn’t mean it was not a fantastic book. Sometimes you just need to grab a book that’s different to your normal reads and shake it up a little.

And that’s what happened with this book. It was a shake up from my normal reading and I love it. This is a book full of depth and fantastic messages. I love fiction books that teach you something. I find they are way more effective than non-fiction. This book is going to impact and help so many women grow.

I loved the characters. I cried (a lot) with Jenna and Elise has they had to learn and grow. I can’t wait to see what happens with the other Barefoot sisterhood women.

This is a fantastic start to the series and I know for certain that I will be checking out more from Lindsay Harrel.
