Unfortunately I DNF this one at 50%. Insta love is hit or miss for me and this was one didn't really hit right. The love interest gave off major stalker vibes and was a little forceful but eventually started to redeem himself but it was to late for me. Even though we go backstories I didn't really feel there was much depth. I will; say that the spice was was good.

I appreciated the reverse trope in this book. Usually its the pro athlete who came from nothing and has to chase the rich person. I like the fact that they did it opposite this time and it made the book more unique. I have to take a star off because of the lack of realism of a pro athlete I know baseball was more of the background part of the book more than the story, but I would have appreciate just a touch more focus on baseball. and his game.

The book promises a generic story. . No build up. Okay prose. Everything moves too soon. So tired of sob stories. The characters were not interesting.

Love at first sight, class difference, secrets, baseball.

This book had a great premise but it was a swing and a miss for me. The love at first sight thing was okay but we didn’t get to see them get to know each other. I found their relationship was mostly based on the physical and there wasn’t enough baseball for me.

Insta-love isn't for me.
Perhaps it's because I'm a pessimist but nothing ever happens that easily. I find it cringe, the 'oh I miss you' when you've met the other person briefly once and it's only been four days. I mean.. come on!
I was going to DNF at 20%, decided to skip to the last few chapters and yep, this one wasn't for me. I love a sports romance, but this was TOO sweet for me. They seemed to both have a haunted backstory, but my initial reaction to Rochelle wasn't positive. I found her a bit irritating, quite childish and the whole 'dont trust men/other people/everything about me sucks' attitude she had then she demands the guy she's just met to kiss her again. Whoa, whiplash.

I'm sure other people will enjoy this, who do like the super-sickly-sweet Insta-love but it's a no from me.

Okay I did not sign up for Insta-love. I don't mind insta-love when it's in novellas but I don't like it in novels. Specially not in sports romance books. Since I'm going through the mood where I wanna read any sports romance related book, I picked this one up. As soon as I saw this book in Netgalley and read the synopsis which seemed really interesting, I had to pick it up. But dang it, this book is full of BS characters who were determined to hate the female protagonist without any apparent reasons. I mean what is this Indian tv-serial? Ugh!

Rochelle is the demure, retiring type who meets extrovert pro-ball player Hunter and begins a relationship. The story is sweet with a twist and great epilogue. However, the grammatical errors really detracted from it. Some editing would make this a great book to read.

I'm sorry but I couldn't even finish this book. I had really looked forward to a steamy baseball romance but the grammatical errors littered throughout prevented me from even caring about the plot.

If I could give this book zero stars.... I would..... I had an idea it wasn't going to be a well written winner, when I was only a few pages into the book and there were obvious grammatical errors. I'm not the grammar police, but it was so glaringly obvious that it was painful! Unfortunately the grammar and the story line only got worse. I didn't finish this book, my brain couldn't take it.

I didn't realize I had already read this book and reviewed it in 2020. The re-read held up. Below is my original review. Gave it 5 stars then, still 5 stars!

This book sucked me in from the prologue, which was extremely well written. You knew from that that there was a lot of the story left out. The heroine, Rochelle, was naive in the extreme, but I really enjoyed her and Hunter as a couple. They really did make the other better. There was an unexpected twist that I didn’t see coming and was a little bit much, but all in all a very solid read. This book also ends on a great epilogue. Really ready to read the next one!

This was a very intense book where the insta-love was believable but like barely. I typically don’t reach for those so maybe that’s why I didn’t enjoy this as much. The plot itself is good and I love baseball irl so seeing that world in a book was great. There is like one major ‘curveball” to the plot.

This book was hot, hot, hot though. So if you’re looking for that, you came to the right place.

The author has a talent for writing a devoted hero and really conveying the love between both the MCs and with their good friends. The insta-love is very strong, so one's enjoyment of this will probably hinge on how they feel about that. There are many plot threads running together, and some of them do ratchet the drama up to 11. Between that and the very explicit love scenes, readers looking for an intense experience will not be disappointed.

I received my copy more than 6 months after the release date, so I'm not sure if it was uncorrected or not, but, if it was a final copy, there were a lot of editing issues (spelling, homonyms, etc.) that were hard to ignore.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
