A lovely heartwarming Christmas read.
Bella returns home from work to find her boyfriend with his suitcase ready to leave her for another woman.
Nick is a single parent to Freddie whose wife walked out 6 months ago.
Bella Comes up with the idea of a giving tree for Christmas to take her mind off her heartache.
The whole village gets involved and soon Nick and Bella are making eyes at each other.
I loved the idea of the giving tree as it brings communities together especially at Christmas. It was made perfect by snowing, although not when Bella's car breaks down.
However I did keep having to remind myself that the boys were 10 and in year 5. Working in a school myself the way some of this was written you could be forgiven for thinking they were in reception.
Nevertheless I did really enjoy this and would recommend to get you ready for Christmas.
Thanks to Netgalley and HQ for the ARC in return for an honest review.

This was a really lovely and heartwarming story. Katie Ginger has knocked it out of the park with this one!

I really loved the main characters, Freddie especially. He was such a kind boy, even when people had not been kind to him. Nick and Bella both really appealed to me too.

Meadowbank made the perfect setting for this story. I loved the fact that people cared about their neighbours, and the giving tree was such a great idea. The cold weather made it even more atmospheric.

Overall, this was a wonderful story, just so heartwarming and happy-making, and very Christmassy.

I was given a copy of this book, my opinions are my own.

Curling up under a blanket by the fire is the best way to enjoy this book. It captures the spirit of Christmas and how thinking of others can bring happiness. There was some predictability to how things were going to turn out but loved it anyway!

Like a big mug of hot chocolate, this feel good book makes you feel warm inside. It wraps itself around you like a big Christmas hug. Bella is the local teacher and all round good person who suffers a painful and unexpected breakup just before Christmas but Christmas gifts come in all shapes and sizes and could there be something or someone who is close enough to make her Christmas wish come true?
Thank you #netgalley, my countdown to Christmas is off to a great start.

The Perfect Christmas Gift by Katie Ginger.

With thanks to #Netgalley and #HQdigital for an ARC of #The PerfectChristmasGift by #KatieGinger.

Put your tree up, grab a mince pie pie and a hot chocolate. Park yourself in a comfy chair with a fluffy blanket, and you are all set to enjoy this festive treat of a book.

Bella is excitedly counting down to Christmas. Until one day she comes home to find her boyfriend is leaving her.
Nextdoor, Nick is facing his first Christmas as a single dad to his son Freddie.
When Bella has an idea that will bring the whole village together, she and Nick unite to make Christmas special for everyone.
As their relationship looks like it could become something more than friends, ghosts from the past are ready to creep out of the woodwork.

This is such a lovely heart warming story with some great characters. Freddie’s story was particularly touching.

The story oozes community spirit, friendship, love and Christmas.
It’s a fast paced, quick read, but utterly adorable.

Aww I really loved this book it was so special.
I love Bella and her lovely tribe of family. They are exuberant, loud, fun, fabulous and very festive.
Bella is in a relationship and is looking forward to spending it with her partner and family and all the prep of being a teacher in the local primary school.
Nick is her gorgeous neighbour and is not looking forward to his first Christmas as a single father since his wife walked out to find herself in Bali with another man.
Life has other plans and Bella finds her situation changes and her and her neighbours lives become more interesting and interwoven.

This really is a fabulous Christmas read and I really enjoyed savouring it as I didn’t want it to end.
Well done Katie you are a truly wonderful author.

The Perfect Christmas Gift by Katie Ginger tired me out with its hackneyed plot. Wonderful teacher whose long-term partner leaves her just before Christmas, immediate new relationship with the single Dad next door, return of his former partner, misery and confusion for our heroine before they all live happily ever after. What kept me reading, however, was the author's ability to set a scene and create an atmosphere.

What a wonderfully uplifting Christmas plot. Engaging, lovable characters, an engaging storyline and so good I read it in two sittings. I’ve already bought more books by the author I enjoyed this book so much and will be recommending it to friends.

In a little village everyone knows everyone and their business so when Bella’s boyfriend of 5 years tries to sneak out and leave her news gets around fast. Instead of being excited about Christmas like she usually would, Bella is trying to get over her heartbreak and on with her life.

Bella’s neighbour Nick has been through something similar, with his wife leaving 6 months ago so he knows what she’s going through. After events at school with Nick’s son Freddie bring to two together, Bella realises that Christmas might not be ruined after all.

I really loved the small village setting and it really helped me to visualise the area and the characters in the story. It had the perfect Christmassy feel and a long enough run up to the main event. There was the school putting on a festive show, presents, a trip to London and so much more.

I also really liked the characters and how they came together. The interaction between Bella and Nick felt really natural however, I did think things moved slightly too fast in a way especially after Bella’s boyfriend leaving. I could have done with a bit more time between the two.

Overall though, a lovely festive read and one I really enjoyed.

This book really is a perfect cosy Christmas story. Set in a close knit village, where neighbours all look out for each other, we meet next door neighbours Nick & his son Freddie and Bella, a teacher at the local school. Both Bella & Nick are dealing with broken hearts & we follow their journeys toward happiness. Having spent many years within a school setting, I loved spending time back in the classroom and following the daily antics. This is a must read book.

I did enjoy this book, but it waa very predictable and i think the author dragged the romance out longer than needed.

A nice Christmas read tackling the things that are around us at the moment, school bullying, job losses, food banks and it was so lovely how a community can pull together when needed rather than just be judgemental

I would like to thank Netgalley, HQ Digital and Katie Ginger for an E ARC copy of this book.
We meet Bella who receives a devastating blow weeks before Christmas, her boyfriend of 5 years leaves her. Christmas has always been Bella’s favourite holiday and she is wondering what this Christmas will bring. She is also a teacher at the local school, she along with other teachers are having to deal with a very bullying child and a Christmas play that is a step away from tradition.
Bella decides that what the town needs is a giving tree. As she set this up and the village give their support, she and the town begin go find that Christmas is not about the presents but about the giving. She also finds that maybe love does live next door, as her neighbour Nick and his son Freddie help her. But will they all get their Christmas wish?
I liked the way that bullying issue was dealt with. I loved the idea of the wishing tree and the difference it was going to make to the people of the village.
An enjoyable read and one I would recommend.

A festive treat based around a village community, school and teacher Bella. Easy to read curled up on the sofa with some tissues. Touches on bullying which is well written. Enjoyable festive read.

What a wonderful Xmas read, in fact I enjoyed it so much I read it in a day.
Bella is a primary school teacher who loves her job, the children she teaches and the village she lives in. She loves Christmas and is looking forward to the beginning of the festive season when she returns home one evening to be greeted by her boyfriend of five years, leaving her for another women. Obviously Bella is heartbroken, but her family are there to comfort and support. On their annual treat of a trip to London, Bella is shocked by the number of homeless people. With her heart of gold she decides to do something in her village and comes up with the idea of a giving tree.
But has she taken on too much. At school she is having a few issues with a certain child bullying another and finds herself not only watching out for this child but for his rather handsome dad too.
This story has your heart breaking as you can so relate to Bellas hops and dreams.
