An old murder along with a new one. The new murder is the Sheriff who lately had misgivings over solving the old case. Now Tish and Reade must figure out who the real murderer is. A compelling read with solid characters. Thanks #netgalley and #CanongateBooks and #SevernHouse for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.

Tish Tarragon just catered a dinner at a church and as she, Jules and Celestine head out, Tish literally stumbles over a dead body. Little did she know this would be her next new case and her first case as an official consultant to the Hobson Glenn Police Department. Stranger than fiction, the body is that of the previous HGPD sheriff and his body was on the grave of a young murder victim from 25 years ago.

As Tish and Reade dig in, they find Sheriff Carney was having some second thoughts before his death, thinking they never really had the real murderer. Now they suspect his murder might just be tied to that old case and they’ve got to prove it. Twenty five years later with the victim, self professed murderer and parents dead and gone, how are they going to prove any of it after all this time? Tish and Reade are committed to getting answers and hope to stay one step ahead of the killer before becoming the next victims.

I love this series! This case seemed, to me, to mirror the murder of JonBenet Ramsey, only this time we get a conclusion and some answers. The cafe based on books and the cat named Tuna all add to the cuteness factor and make this one truly cozy mystery series! Be sure to check out the recipes at the end.
