Corinne Michaels is an auto-buy author for me. She writes smalltown romances like no other and I will never stop picking up her books!

I normally would love everything about all the tropes in this book. Small town romance, childhood crush and friends to lovers. Delia is actually Josh’s brothers’ best friend and she’s had the biggest crush on him since she was 15. Somehow through all these years they’ve managed to still be friends but he never allowed things to cross a line. And while Delia is looking to eventually find Mr. Right, maybe she can work Mr. Right Now out of her system. But fate had different plans.

Individually I really enjoyed both characters. Delia is a pretty normal woman but I like that she was in a good place in her life, didn’t need a man but was also still determined and straight forward to get what she wanted once she made a decision. Josh suffered a bit from that tortured past hero that thinks he’s no good for any woman. I knew there would be a tragic story coming for sure but I still got annoyed with his hesitation a lot of the time.

The chemistry between them was there and they were certainly steamy together while also delving into more emotional and heartbreaking topics. Triggers for this book would be spoilery, but I would recommend seeking them out if you have a concern. You can always message me. I think Ms. Michaels handled those topics well.

However the pacing of this story was a bit lackluster. I just didn’t feel the push and pull of the conflict besides the fact that they could’ve opened up sooner and started working through some of Josh’s reservations sooner. Everything was throwing them together! So there was some frustration for me with the story because of it and that definitely affected my enjoyment and flow while reading this story.

Overall, I love stories about families and even though I haven’t read any of the previous books in the series I wasn’t lost and I still found the introduction of those family members added value to this story. Also, we get to see those side characters here and care for them even if we didn’t read their HEA. I think that sense of community and family is something Ms. Michaels writes so well and one of the reasons I read her books.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Delia and Joshua. They have known each other all their lives. Delia has been in love with Joshua since she was a teenager. They have an attraction to each other. One night they discovered their attraction, which leads to a pregnancy. They have some trust issues to work out along with the pregnancy. They eventually work through everything and find love.

I enjoyed the characters of Joshua and Delia, and overall the story was good and solid. Since this is part of a series, though, I feel as though the story can’t be fully enjoyed on its own. It’s a good read if you enjoy the series

I received an earc of A Moment for Us by Corinne Michaels via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This has in no way influenced my thoughts and feelings about the book.

As soon as I read the synopsis for this one, I knew that I had to pick it up. I love surprise pregnancies, childhood friends to lovers/long time crush. It just makes for some fantastic angst and this has that for sure. A Moment for Us follows Delia as she tries to get over her long time crush on Joshua, but just when she thought she would get there. He kisses her. A few kisses turn into something more, and then there is the pink plus sign staring back at Delia. They have been thrown into this new life that they both have to navigate.

I wanted to love this book. I had so many elements of everything that I loved, but it did fall short. That doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it. Because I did. It just wasn’t what I wanted or expected from it. The romance was okay. I liked it and yes it was angsty. But I was waiting for something more. I didn’t feel like I saw them connect enough and fall for one another. Everything kind of just jumped around too much for me.

I did feel that I missed a few things – and that is my fault as I haven’t read the rest of the books in the series. So that is all on me. But I also felt that meant I didn’t feel the connection between Delia and Josh right away. I’m not sure if they both appear together in the other books in the series. But it didn’t have a great base here.

There is also a lot going on in A Moment for Us. Don’t get me wrong, it was a good read. But I felt that at times it was just a little too much. From the long time crush, the surprise pregnancy to Josh’s past. And then everything that happens to them both. I just didn’t feel that it was complete.

Overall, A Moment for Us was a good read. The romance was angsty but also very sweet. I loved that we get to see both Delia and Josh break down each other’s walls. And the sense of family is massive here and I loved that. I’m not sure if I am going to go back and read the rest of the series, but maybe one day.

A quick read in a really enjoyable series from an author I've come to recognise as always worth my time. Corinne Michaels knows how to do romance well; with emotion, heart and an ability to treat sensitive topics with the care they deserve. It is worth noting that the issue of pregnancy loss may be triggering to some readers but it is dealt with so beautifully through the characters. I'm always happy and satisfied by the end of a Michaels book and this one was no different. Long may it continue.

Thank you to netgalley and the author for the arc in exchange for an honest review.
