This book was so much fun! There is a lot of hype surrounding this book, and it did not disappoint. The smut was *chefs kiss* but I also really enjoyed the relationship between Georgie and Vektal. I would definitely continue reading this series.

It was an unexpected journey onto an ice planet. I loved the story line and the author was awesome with descriptions! Great characters, hope to see more in future books. Not-Hoth needs a series!

I have to confess, Ruby Dixon is my guilty pleasure. All of her titles are fun, steamy, and low-stress. They provide a great break from the high-stakes fantasy series I normally read, because I know there will always be a HAE. Ice Planet Barbarians is no exception to this rule. I would recommend this book if you’re looking for something with equal parts sex and humor.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and Berkley Publishing! All opinions are my own!

Going into this book, I had no idea what to expect, but I was so very pleasantly surprised! I enjoyed this book way more than I thought I would, and I cannot wait to continue this series.

I think I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed the plot. Even when I thought I knew a lot about the plot from what I've heard about these books, I was actually surprised by some of it and still really enjoyed even the parts that I did know about. I loved watching Georgie as she really came into who she is and what she wanted for herself. She learned a lot about not just their new planet but also about herself and her strengths. She found herself as a leader and she really stepped into that role in such a strong way.

And then the romance was amazing as well! I loved Vektal and how sweet he was. There was the element of a more "barbaric" people, but it came across as sweet and intriguing, especially when he takes care of Georgie. I loved their relationship and watching them learn about each other and fall deeper into love with every page.

If you like sci-fi romance, you won't want to miss this series!

Ruby Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbarian series is so addicting. They are quick reads with interesting characters and unique ideas. Many of the stories are light and fun—however, the first novel in the series deals with some heavy issues (check the trigger warnings). If this type of Sci-Fi romance is something you love—check out this series—you won’t be able to stop at one.

This was my first foray into this massive, and massively popular series. It's my bookclub's pick for December & I was able to apply it to my Popsugar Reading Challenge as well! This book goes from 0-60 VERY quickly and I do think it is important to check triggers prior to starting. That being said, I really enjoyed this book quite a lot and fully intend to read more of the series. I love the new covers and think that they do the series justice!

4 stars.

I have been delaying this for months. Thinking there is no way I was actually going to enjoy it. I mean.......Blue aliens with horns and tusks....... Do I need to give you anymore reasons why I was hesitant to dive into it?

Yup, that is what I thought too at the beginning. But I just kept seeing people rave about this series and I had to give it a go. I mean it's only time right?

But the thought that if it was actually good hit me......

n the end, this was smut-fucking-tastic, hilarious and everything I needed to get me out of yet another book slump (I feel like I'm spending more time in my slumps than out of them).

The characters were all great, and I would like to believe that if I was kidnapped by aliens I would be cool headed and sarcastic as fuck just like these ladies are.

I will definitely be continuing this series, especially when I need a quick 6 hr smutty audio to get me through a day!

Thank you Ashley for pushing me to read this, it was a blast!

What a fun bonkers book. A little skimpy on plot but a fun and sexy read. I will be happy to handsell this to my customers.

Fall in love with the out-of-this-world romance between Georgie Carruthers, a human woman, and Vektal, an alien from another planet.

This is 100% a #bookstagram made me do it read. I've literally seen it EVERYWHERE and when I stumbled across the "updated" edition on #netgalley I jumped at the chance to read it. Plus, this cover is legit gorgeous.

Let's just say that this book is exactly what you think it is - a steamy romance...with (blue) aliens. Yup.
Did I enjoy it? Sure. Will I read the rest of the series? That remains to be seen.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for my review copy!

I have a lot of thoughts about Ice Planet Barbarian! After so much hype about it, I really didn’t know what to expect. This sci-fi romance follows Georgie, a human woman stranded in a ice planet after her and other women are abducted by aliens, and as the groups unofficial leader, she goes out for help. She finds Vektal, a blue horned alien who believes he has found his mate in Georgie. This book is sexy! I mean there’s massive steam in this book, and I think it’s done really well! For Georgie, I loved she felt relatable, even in such an out-of-this-world story. Her reactions felt honest, and I just loved her. She is vulnerable and strong, confused and falling for Vektal. She’s so brave, always pushing to save the other woman and carry on even at the risk of her own health. I love that she is just as much the hero in this. Vektal might come to her rescue but she never quits or loses sight of her goals. Vektal too is so strong and is such an alpha but I love his tenderness. Once he finds George, she becomes his world, and his devotion to her is so endearing and sweet. I mean he’s swoon-worthy kind and loving to her. I had trouble with the fact that they couldn’t understand each other for a long while and was just itching for them to have more conversation, so I was grateful when that was resolved. Still I wish there had been more moments of them connecting more emotionally. They both do so much to just keep surviving and I liked their moments of trying to understand each other before the language barrier was resolved. This book makes me smile. I like the fates mates trope, but this felt a little too heavy on the insta-love for me. This special edition had some bonus content and it was those extra bits that had me really believing their connection and falling in love with these two! I also got some heavy Beauty and the Beast type vibes from this, and I liked that element. This is such a fun read!

A fun smutty read perfect for those who need a titillating escape. Get ready for some strange…anatomy but it’s written in a really sexy way. If you want to laugh and also need a fan, this one is for you. There are some rough topics and abuse so tread lightly.

This book is definitely over hyped. I just couldn't really get in to reading this one unfortunately. I didn't like the main character which made it hard to continue reading. This book just felt completely ridiculous to me. Maybe its me not having the imagination for it but whatever it was this book was just not for me.

I can understand why this is hyped - it's full of adventure and is definitely steamy, but I don't think it's as good as the hype claims. The characters felt flat, and the exposition felt heavy-handed, as though romance came second, after setting up the rest of the series.

Thank you to Berkley and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I don't even know what to say. I did not read this when TikTok championed it but when I saw it was getting released in a special edition I decided to try it. And...I could not stop reading. Who knew that a story about women trapped on an alien ice planet who have to mate with giant blue men to survive would be engaging? The hilarious thing is that love literally saves the day. Insane. And FILTHY.

3 stars.

I basically could not escape this book this summer on TikTok - so many of the accounts I love were tearing through the series. So when Berkley Romance offered me a copy of the special edition, I was thrilled to finally have a chance to read it (and look how pretty that new cover is!).

Things I enjoyed:
❄️ The spice (it's a lot)
❄️ Georgie was tossed into a leadership role, reading about her taking the lead was fun
❄️ The other women on the ship were fun to read about and I'm looking forward to their books

Things I didn't love:
❄️ Nonsensical plot points (it was just a little too convenient that they found a ship that could install software in their heads to translate)
❄️ It's impossible to take this book seriously
❄️ The consent was questionable at times
❄️ The main couple didn't have the strongest romantic connection

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for the complimentary e-copy of Ice Planet Barbarians, I have seen this book in many a-places on BookTube and have been curious. To say it was an interesting read would be a galactic understatement. Even though far, far spicier than I typically read, I’m glad delved into this strange new world. It was downright silly at times, but romantic too. Who knows, maybe your perfect space alien is out there waiting on you?

Dang, I loved this book and read it in one VERY fast sitting. The smut is actually top tier, but the plot was so fast-moving and the world, while under-developed, was very easy to understand and I had no problems figuring out what was going on or where we were.

I will genuinely be preordering book 2 in the special edition - I love this cover and MAN, I am surprised by this!

Wow, I loved this even though I was unsure about an alien romance. And even though it’s cheesy at times, the writing is great and well done. Can’t wait for the next one!

Okay, where to begin? When Spicy BookTok told me I had to read this book, I was, well, a little hesitant. I've never read an Alien Romance, and I honestly never planned to. I finally caved when I saw the new special edition book offered up on NetGalley. I figured there was nothing to lose, and I jumped in.

Ice Planet Barbarians is one of those books that sucks you in. I enjoyed seeing how the plot played out. The world created was interesting enough, and the story was entertaining. It is your typical fated mates book but with the added spice of Aliens instead of a paranormal creature. The spice level was 2/3 Pumpkin Spice Lattes. There were lots (and I do mean lots) of graphic sex, but nothing too taboo or kinky. If I'm honest, some of the sex scenes were a bit too repetitive but still entertaining.

The plot was interesting, and the world was fascinating, but I kind of wish I would have gotten to know the characters more. Instead, we were thrust into the action, and I was left a bit disappointed when it came to character development. I'm a character-driven reader, so I wanted the characters to be three-dimensional and not so flat. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the characters and loved how strong Georgie was. It was also entertaining to see Georgie from Vektal's perspective.

All in all, I enjoyed it. I'm going to have to continue on in the series. The book was entertaining, and I'm invested in the story.
