Well I didn't really expect much out of this but found it extremely enjoyable! Can't wait to pick up the other titles in this series. Quick easy and fun read.

EEEP! I love mixing Sci-Fi with romance and this book takes Science Fiction to steamy EPIC-NESS. Georgie is the female lead, she's smart, strong and the group leader. As a large group of women is abducted from Earth by the bad aliens, and then soon crash land on a planet light years away, Georgie takes the initiative to ensure survival for her group. She stumbles upon Vektal and the most strangest connection is made. Vektal is out of this world (pun intended) adorable. He is strong, lethal, and ribbed in all the right places if you know what I mean. The chemistry that forms despite Georgie's hesitation to be attracted to another species can be applied as an allegory to real life love stories.
This book is for readers that love adventures, that love steam, that can be okay with stories getting a bit dark, I think taking a risk on alien romance is one worth taking!
Also the bonus content is so FUN! I love reading about Georgie's first hunting session. I love this couple soooo much. Thank you Berkley!

When I first saw this book trending on social media, I thought to myself, “There’s no way in hell I’m reading that.”

Welp. I read it.

AND. I. LOVED. IT. (Thank you, NetGalley!)

I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did! IPB is an experience like no other. Literally. Georgie’s abduction by the “little green men” had me hooked from the first chapter. Throw in the crash landing and Georgie’s solo venture into Not-Hoth, I was SOLD.

Now, my favorite things about this book:
•Vektal. (Everything about this blue alien)
•Georgie trying to communicate with Vektal before the language zap. (This really made me laugh reading Vektal’s POV of Georgie talking)
•The Star Wars comparisons.
•DUAL POV😩👌
•THE. SPICE.

The only reason I did not give this book 5 stars is because I wish I would’ve read more about JUST Georgie and Vektal before they had to rescue the girls.

Can’t wait to read the next one🤩

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
FOUR OUT OF FIVE STARS

🌶🌶🌶/🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶
THREE OUT OF FIVE SPICE

I finally read Ice Planet Barbarians!
After listening to all my favorite romance podcasts talk about this series for... years (?), I finally read it with the new cover re-release.
Onto the review.
Whenever there is a book out there with so much hype, I'm a bit wary because automatically my standards are much higher, but it actually turned out to be exactly what I was expecting.
We've got Georgie, kidnapped by evil aliens along with a bunch of other women, and Vektal, a huge blue sa-khui with a protective streak and very interesting anatomy. When Georgie's ship crashes on Vektal's planet, these two are united.
Here's the thing, it's super fun, it's hot, and it's bit funny in the ridiculousness of it all, but it's still good! I'm not going to run out and get book 2 immediately, but once I start traveling again, it will be my go-to series to load up my kindle with for flight and train rides.
Solid 4 stars.

Thank you netgalley for the free copy in exchange for my honest review.

I’ve read this novel front to back three times and it’s been amazing each time. The sci-fi romance genre is so vast, but Ruby Dixon is like a lighthouse beacon- the brightest light leading you right to the heart and home of a dangerous but beautiful ice alien planet. I can’t stress enough how truly quality her work is.

This was an enjoyable, somewhat sexy, somewhat disturbing read for me. I liked it enough that I read the second one. I wish there was a little more to some parts, but overall I liked this not-so-typical read for me.

Total floof but so fun and surprisingly sexy despite the somewhat odd sounding descriptions of the aliens (I picture them as kind of a cross between a Na'vi and a demon). I glommed the first three in one day ;)

ed. to add: So, I just finished an ARC of the special edition, which features some (limited) edits of plot [not a lot was trimmed] along with a new Honeymoon epilogue. Big thank you to NetGalley, Berkley, and the author for the opportunity. I stand by my original assessment: nothing here is earthshattering literature but it is fun, fluffy entertainment with a total cinnamon roll hero and a take-charge heroine. I really enjoyed the Honeymoon epilogue; it was less smexy than I expected and a fitting way to wrap up a loose end I'd sort of forgotten about. Kudos Ms. "Dixon" on Ice Planet Barbarians' big mainstream debut!

Thank you NetGalley for sending this arc for an honest review!

Blue aliens that r completely obliterating white girls in the most kindest way possible? Yea totally not weird. I wait from fae p*rn to blue alien p@rn. My life could not get weirder. I even finshed the book. And enjoyed it. And wanted more because I couldn’t stop reading it. Sometimes I question myself and what reading has done to me. I will admit if ur looking for something more plot driven I wouldn’t really recommend this book. Like I mentioned it’s blue alien smut that I couldn’t take my eyes off lol.

I always told myself I would never read anything out of my norm, like this but guess what, I did! And I enjoyed it! A friend raved about this series so I decided to step out of my comfort zone and give it a try and I liked it so much I downloaded the second book! It took a little bit to get use to this idea of aliens but after awhile you kinda stop seeing them as aliens, until tails and horns are mentioned! lol I thought the author was very imaginative with creating this other world and giving detail about the aliens and their way of life. It was very enjoyable! I am off to book 2!

I knew what to expect, and I still didn’t expect it. I understand the hype of the IPB series now. Ruby Dixon is an incredible story-teller and Non-Hoth was such an interesting trip. I still think that there are some serious issues of consent in the book. I know that there were some changes from the original to this title and knowing what a few of those issues were, I’m glad they were removed. I liked the extended epilogue and other story included after.

I think this was about a 3.5 star read for me, but we’ll round it up to 4 because i really did enjoy it. I immediately went to read Barbarian Alien over this and will probably keep reading this series.

Thanks to Berkley and NetGalley for the ARC. All thoughts are my own.

I will be honest, with the rabid fan base that this series has on the internet, I think I may have allowed my expectations to be raised higher than they should have been. The first chapter is heavy on kidnapping, sexual assault, and sex trafficking. I had been warned by other readers, but there really should be some kind of content warning because it is jarring and if I hadn't been warned and assured that it was only in the first chapter I probably would have put the book down and walked away.

Overall, it was fine. I think Dixon made the whole "mate" thing as unlucky as possible, but there were still a couple of cringey moments due to possessiveness. Luckily the heroine was into it? It was easy to read and the short sections and changing POV made it easy to keep turning the pages. I can see how this series would be easy to binge.

Yall already know it's a great review from me!!!

Thank you so much for this ARC!

Though I've already read this series via audio, it was so much better getting my hands on this copy! I still have the same reservations about the first book, but I also realize Miss Ruby was getting her footing in this world and developing it for longevity!!!

I always enjoy the barbarians, and highly recommend for anyone who is into space, aliens, and SMUT. I find that this series' plot develops more and more as the books continue, so if for some reason this first book hasn't sold you, then I advise at least reading the second before you make any final decisions.

There are some real haters our there so I just want to say, it is not as bad as people make it out to be! There is one scene that is a trigger warning, but it’s not between the two MCs (which is why made me hesitant to read it at first because who can come back from that??). So look that up if you need it!!

I really love the barbarians and can only hope the redesigned covers continue so I can get a copy of each one!

Such a surprising read! Although this book is fun, I caution others to review trigger warnings (See below) prior to picking this one up. I thoroughly enjoyed bein immersed into the planet of "Not-Hoth" as my first experience in the Sci-fi Romance (alien smut) genre. Ice Planet Barbarians is the story of Georgie and Vektal, and provides the backstory of how human women came to live on an ice planet with too many males among their population. The tribe welcomes each of these women in hopes that they will resonate (mate) with a male in the village.

After an alien abduction, Georgie finds herself among stolen women who are to be sold into slavery to other alien species. The introduction to this series is darker than expected, and the women soon find themselves crash-landed on an ice planet. With no resources to help them survive, it is decided that Georgie will venture out into this new world alone. After traveling away from the space ship in search of food and water, Georgie encounters a male named Vektal, who nurses her back to health. While Georgie and Vektal take time together to mate, the time is ticking for the other women back at the spaceship. It is Georgie's mission to convince Vektal to help out the rest of the humans as well.

I loved being immersed in the planet the women refer to as "Not-Hoth" and I cannot wait for the release of the special edition cover. Ice Planet Barbarians is a good introduction to the world, but the series only gets better from here!

Thank you NetGalley, Ruby Dixon, and Berkley Publishing for sending me an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review! I must be honest, I've already read this book, but requested this edition because I was curious to see what changes were made. First off, I LOVE the new cover! It's stunning and really improves the story in my opinion. I hope in the future all of the book covers are updated.

This book has been ALL OVER TikTok and it's a fun read. It's not the next best novel in my opinion, but it's certainly entertaining! I'm excited for the author for all of the new hype the series has gotten and for new readers to be enjoying them. The added Honeymoon scene was a great bonus at the end.

I think fans of romance will enjoy this one for what it is - pure fun. It's hard to rate, so I went with a neutral three stars for this unique read.

Okay, I get why this series is mildly addicting now. It’s ridiculous, not particularly outstanding, and could use a thesaurus BUT it hits a niche fantasy daydream like a boss. Of course women will “resonate” with a story that leaves earth men behind to land amongst a bunch of alpha aliens that also fall over themselves to please their women. It’s absurd but also makes total sense.

As for the actual writing, it’s just okay. Serviceable. And this wider plot is a decent one, it’s just a little bare bones. I think it could have been really fantastic if it had been built up and fleshed out more. But that potential shows and lends itself to the compulsivity of the book(s).

Honestly, I thought the books would be kinkier. Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty of naughty, but the way I heard people talk about the barbarian sex, I was expecting some weird, raunchy things, but not really. Mostly it’s just accelerated but standard romps in a cave.

I read the Special Edition and I think the extra short stories were excellent. They add a lot of weight and depth to Georgie’s story. I definitely recommend it.

Overall, I enjoyed it. Critically, it’s just okay. But it’s also a little escapist viral fun that I can now be a part of, which is hilarious and a little sweet.

I enjoyed reading this, it's definitely different than what I tend to go for but it's an interesting concept and I think we could use more science fiction romance like it.

After seeing this blow up on booktok, I had to read it myself to see what all the talk was about. I got the general idea before reading - abducted women, blue aliens, and some very interesting anatomy. Although this isn’t something I would usually read, I actually found myself pleasantly surprised! Is it the best fantasy book I’ve ever read? Not really. However, I found that this book kept my interest until the end. It jumps right into the action and the plot develops in a way that actually left me content with the storyline as a whole. In my opinion, it’s worth the read if curiosity is getting the better of you, but I won’t be rushing to read more of the series.

Thank you Netgalley and Berkeley for sending me the eARC of the special edition of Ice Planet Barbarians in exchange for an unbiased review.

Otherworlds, huge blue barbarians, strong female characters, and loves of romance, this book is fun, fast, and full of steam. Warning, the beginning starts out with sex- trafficking little green men who kidnap single young women. But once they desert them on an ice planet, these women are not about to sit around and wait for their fate. Dixon's characters are lovable and relatable. And I was drawn into her world.

So excited to get an e-arc of this special edition IPB book! First of all, let’s talk about the cover - it’s beautiful!! I loved the original covers, but I think this definitely gives it a more main stream look that people will gravitate towards when they see it at a bookstore. So aside from the cover, what’s different? With this special edition version we not only get the original IPB story, but an extended epilogue and Georgie & Vektal’s honeymoon novella. I have read this book before, but I really enjoyed getting to read a little more about this couple with the extended epilogue. It was a short story of the newly mated couple going on a hunting trip, but as I have said before, I love these couples/this world and will take all the content Ruby will give us! Overall, this is just a really fun addition to the series. I hope new covers are released for all the books solely so I can new see art of all the characters. PS, congrats on this deal Ruby! You deserve it!

This was a reread. Super fun, goofy, sex fantasy. It's not for everyone but it is certainly iconic, and the new paperback cover is gorgeous.
