I enjoy Kate Archer’s writing and this story is no exception. I love the plotting and scheming the group of elders gets up to and the chaos they create in the name of love. The MCs in this story worked well together and their chemistry makes for a steamy read! Overall this is a great story and part of a fun series!

What a disappointing ending to a series that I enjoyed. This book had almost no romance! It was filled with the most mundane things. After reading the previous books I thought this would be about Dalton's redemption but it wasn't. There wasn't much of anything going on except drivel.

After reading the first part of the book I was drawn in from the tragedy that the young lady and her companion were going through. The story did pick up some during the romance part of it. The story was entertaining more so the entertainment came from the mystery and action the involved the two main characters. This was a quick for me to read at night

this checked off everything I look for in a book. Was not disappointed. Really enjoyed this book. I will read more from this author. Must read. Historical fiction oh yeah. Love me some of this.

Historical Romance with Mystery

Charles is the last of his friends, all dukes’ sons to hold out on getting married. Would he finally relent? In this story, circumstances thrust him together with Daisy, who also does not wish to marry. Both Daisy and Charles have their reasons for resisting marriage. However, the attraction between them keeps building. Will they resist the pull, or will they give into the madness called love? This is my favorite book in this series. Even though it dragged in some places with, what I felt were unneeded details, it held my interest throughout the book. There was romance, mystery, and a bit of suspense.

I have really enjoyed reading all of the books in the Duke's Pact Series.
Although a proponent for bachelorhood in previous editions in the series, Charles, aka Dalton, finally meets his match in Daisy. Loved watching him fall.
Thank you Kate Archer, Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.

This was a slow-burn romance with a very predictable ending for me. While I didn't dislike it, I found myself just pleasantly reading along. It never gave me any swoon-worthy moments and it didn't give me any characters that would be memorable. That said, it is a very well-written and strong story. I felt the author did a nice job on it and I would be interested in reading more from her.
The secondary characters I felt stood out more than the mains and this is what actually made the interesting points of the story for me. Charles and Daisy wanted so much to deny what there was between them but it was predictable to the entire world that they would eventually marry. They did have a slow, sweet romance.
I do recommend this book for its strong writing and sweet story. It can be read as a stand-alone however I felt at a disadvantage being as I have never read anything before in this series. It would have been more helpful with all the other characters in it.
I received an advanced copy in exchange for my review.

The Earl's Iron Warrant sees the final heir of the Duke's Pact fall for the parson's noose, and finally find a woman who makes him want to settle down and marry. The most stalwart hold out of the pact, Charles Battersea, Earl of Dalton, has actively discouraged his friends from marrying, and proclaimed far and wide that he will never marry. What he witnessed at war has scarred him, both physically and mentally, and he can't imagine ever marrying and having children who could be shipped off. When his father cuts him off even further, and forces him to chaperone the newly orphaned Daisy Danworth, Charles is somewhat pleased to have a home to live, and with someone who he has always had a good rapport with. For Daisy, she's faced the horrors of having a cruel father, and now she is free from his control, she has no intention of ever placing herself in the potential harm of a wicked husband. Never have two people so well matched proclaimed to hate marriage, but everyone but themselves sees the attraction between them. As they spend more and more time together, facing a mystery and danger to them all, can they reconcile themselves to fate?

This was a book I didn't know what to expect. I've really enjoyed the others in the series, but have hated Lord Dalton and the way he's acted in the past. I didn't know if I would care enough about him to want him to have a happy ending, but he really grew on me. In this book, we see the vulnerable side of Lord Dalton, and get to know why he is the way he's been, and that it's just a facade he's put on for protection. Him and Miss Danworth are both known for their icier sides, but have spent time together in the past, often taking supper together, and generally enjoy the time with one another. When the Duke of Glastonburg becomes Daisy's guardian, he tells his son to look after her, while the estate is being renovated, at one of her late father's homes. Dalton is to stay with her, but in the ramshackle cottage on the grounds of the Ramsgate house, and at first, there's animosity, but the more time the households are together, it's clear they have found something special. It was also nice to see the other heir to a dukedom, Lord Burke, find his happy ending too, and the series was tied up perfectly in the end. I look forward to seeing what Archer publishes next.

I have enjoyed each book in this series, and this book was a perfect ending. It was nice to get to know Lord Dalton and to see his interactions with Miss Daisy Danworth and Mrs. Jellops. Mrs. Jellops character was a fabulous addition to the story. Loved her!
Great characters and loved seeing Lord Dalton slowly change his mind about marriage.
Fantastic series Kate Archer!

Duke of Glastonburg, has been appointed her guardian. Instead of bringing her to his Somerset Estate he sequestered her with his son has protector at the one place she hoped never to go again, Ramsgate.

The Earl's Iron Warrant by Kate Archer is the last of the Duke's Pact books and is about the most difficult of the young men to manage. For Miss Daisy Danworth, everything is finally going well. Her father is dead and will not be missed, by anyone. She only has one year to reach her majority at which time she can claim her inheritance and go off to Brighton to live a quiet life. She can't wait. In the meantime, her guardian will be the Duke of Glastonburg, the entailed heir of her father's estate. She presumes she will be moving to his estate. Imagine her surprise when he appoints his son, Charles Battersea, Earl of Dalton to assume this responsibility. He will live in the cottage on the grounds of one of his father's newly inherited estates, while supervising Miss Danworth. This situation is not really to anyone's liking, but it is what it is.

The more they resist, the harder they fall certainly pertains to Charles, who has been fighting the Duke's Pact and his father for years. He takes his butler and two footmen with him, and Daisy promptly hire a housekeeper that can manage them all. It is delightful to see her taken over the running of the house and making those around her bend to her wishes. We have known Charles for a long time, and watching his personality change was enthralling. Daisy has had to be a strong woman all these years because her father had been so horrible. She had had to fend for herself and she had. When Charles and Burke discovered the real story behind much of what was going on, she was able to fill in the rest, not that she shared it right away. It was a good final entry in an excellent series. All of them are married, and all of them are happy about it. I recommend it.

Such a wonderful series and I have truly enjoyed each story! Up next is Charles and Daisy and what a delightful story it is!

Charles of course has held out and refused to marry per the Duke's pact to disinherit a son who does not conform. He is sent off to an estate in disrepair and been giving guardianship to Miss Daisy Danworth.

Daisy's intolerable father has died and she is determined to make a life without benefit of a man. She had been torchered enough living with her father.

With a wonderful cast of characters, including a delightful cat, they strive to solve a mystery and come to an attraction that cannot be denied! Loved it!

Seems to be the last in the series. I have read the first one as well. In the middle books it appears that our hero has been trying to persuade some of his friends not to marry. Charles's father is still keen for him to marry. Our heroine's father dies and Daisy is left in the guardianship of the hero's father. Daisy is sent to the estate in Ramsgate with her companion and with Charles dossing in the diplapidated estate cottage. Some of Daisy's fathers retrobate friends turn up but Charles and his friend Lord Burgh see them off. There's more skull duggery before the HEA..

I didn't think there was enough passion. They just seemed to realise at the end that a marriage between them would be a good idea. Hardly spotted a kiss. Lots of well drawn interesting secondary characters.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley, Dragonblade, and the author for the opportunity to read an ARC of this title. An honest review was requested but not required.

I've really enjoyed this series by Ms. Archer; each installment gets better and better. I'm happy to share with any prospective readers that this was far and away the best of the bunch. As Bellamy, wine connoisseur and unwitting sommelier might say, it has a dry and acerbic wit with just a hint of fizz and crisp humor, perfect for a summer day. Ha. But seriously: Dalton has been such a curmudgeon over the course of the series that I was really, REALLY looking forward to seeing how the author would redeem him. At first it seems he has met his match in Ms. Danworth, insofar as she will challenge him at every turn. THEN it seems he has met his match in Ms. Danworth, because she is clearly perfect for him. Daisy Danworth is equally a treat: the renowned Ice Maiden, who just as clearly has a vulnerable heart hiding underneath so many layers of reserve.

Although the two main characters were absolutely *chef's kiss* perfect, Lord Burke and Ms. Belle Minkerton were also delightful (I especially enjoyed the part where Ms. Danworth and Ms. Minkerton had an actual conversation about their miscommunication, rather than continuing a farcical circular mistake throughout the course of the book). But even better yet were all the side characters: Ms. Jellops (companion), Mrs. Broadbent (housekeeper), Betsy (ladies' maid), Bellamy (butler), etc. They really made the book come alive and provided a lot of humor.

I'm so excited to have discovered Kate Archer and I'm really looking forward to what she writes next.

Finally, Charles and Lord Burke’s stories to end the series! Charles swears never to marry after the horrors of war. Lord Burke swears never to marry because he secretly had feelings for a woman who thought of him as a brother. Charles’ father makes him stand in as guardian for the lovely Daisy. Daisy swears never to marry after the cruelty of her father. While trying to protect her, Charles feels that maybe he was wrong about marriage after all. Charles Battersea, Earl of Dalton, the last ducal heir refusing to give up his bachelor status, has been given no choice by his father. The duke named Dalton guardian to Miss Daisy Danworth and he must travel to the run down estate that is now part of the duke's holdings. He has met Miss Danworth before in London and liked her well-enough, but Dalton has steadfastly refused to ever consider marriage. What he doesn't expect is for Daisy to feel the same way. There is more going on at the estate than either of them realize and they soon are embroiled in a murder mystery. Can they protect each other or will they run afoul of some questionable men from Daisy's father's past?

I've read all the books in this series, but this one is my absolute favorite. The secondary characters especially Mrs. Broadbent and Bellamy were so entertaining, I laughed at their antics throughout the book. And of course there was The Wretch. Who doesn't love a cat? I loved the slow burn of Dalton's and Daisy's feelings on life and each other as they change and adapt. The mystery running through the book kept it suspenseful. While this is a stand alone story, I recommend reading all the books in the series to get the full story of the 6 ducal heirs who found love on their own terms.

4.25 Stars
Charles Battersea, Earl of Dalton and heir to the Duke of Glastonburg, is the last holdout among the six young heirs who have been pressured to marry by way of the Dukes’ Pact. This surprises precisely nobody, especially not himself. He has his reasons for avoiding marriage, and they are not what people imagine. Daisy Danworth, daughter of the awful Lord Childress, finds herself the ward of the Duke of Glastonburg when her father dies but he has estate matters to attend to. The wily Duke gives his son Dalton an iron warrant to be Diana’s guardian. The pair, along with his servants & her companion go to Childress' house in Ramsgate.
This is the sixth book in the series & I think my favourite. A well written, fun, humorous book that often had me smiling especially Mrs Broadbent's what-fors & the image of Charles’ hard drinking butler & footmen reading gothic novels whilst drinking chocolate. I had been waiting for Charles' story & it didn't disappoint, I loved how his softer side was gradually revealed starting with his adoption of The Wretch. I also loved Diana who was feisty & resilient, the pair were ideal for each other. There were assumptions, misunderstandings, thieves & a mystery plus of course two couples finding love. The verbal banter was highly entertaining & the chemistry began with simmering & gradually grew. The epilogue rounded the book off beautifully, however I would have liked to have had maybe a bonus epilogue, which brought all six heirs together at the end & rounded off the series
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Charles Battersea, Earl of Dalton came back from the war a changed man. He never wants to marry, no matter what pressure his father puts on him. Even his friends don't know his reasons.

Daisy Danworth feels only relief when her father dies. He was a terrible man who mixed with other awful men. Happily the guardian she will now have is a much better person. Only one more year and she can set up house with her own money and live a peaceful quiet life.

Six devious Dukes made a pact to get their sons married and have children to carry on their lines.

A very amusing series filled with great characters.

I loved it.

One could either refer to this novel as Dalton's Last Stand, but it does rather remind me of the British TV series, Upstairs, Downstairs. Having reviewed all the books in the series, I was delighted to read the Earl of Dalton's story, the one heir who refused to bend to his father's will. As his funds and his options run out, Charles Battersea has no alternative other than to follow his father's dictates and take care of the rundown estate the Duke has inherited, as well as the heiress for whom he has guardianship. Charles has nothing against Miss Daisy Danworth, other than the fact that she is an heiress of marriageable age. However, when Daisy firmly states that she has no intention of marrying, he feels that he is off the hook. But why did that thought trouble him? With servants running their lives and a housekeeper at war with his butler, this novel is hilarious whilst being suspenseful at the same time. Add a stray cat to the mix and I found myself laughing out loud. I have thoroughly enjoyed the entire series and am delighted that Dalton found his match. I received a copy of this well-written novel through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

This book was a great addition to the series. I enjoyed this book as much as the previous ones. I was excited to read Dalton's story and was not disappointed. Dalton and Daisy each had past circumstances that made them refuse to marry and be cold hearted. Together they overcame their prior experiences and thawed their hearts. The story was quite humorous and entertaining. Lord Burke and Belle's entwined love story was a lovely and unexpected surprise.
I will miss the Dukes' Pact and the characters.
