Grab this new shoujo series! Fans of the uber poplar Vampire Knight and Wallflower series will love this reverse harem twist on vampires. Stella, a naive teenager, is traveling by coach to her job as a maid. Once her coach enters a thorny forest it is attacked. Stella wakes up the next morning in a mansion and no memory after the attack.
The mysterious Levi tells her she is safe at the house but the thorny vine attack intruders in the forest. Stella has no way of getting to her new job so she asks Levi if she can be a maid at the mansion. Naive young heroine at her best she doesn't really think this through. Levi hires her and introduces her to his three housemates, Friedrich, Yoel and the seemingly deranged Gilbert. Strange clues pop up but Stella believes the explanations until the truth is revealed in the last chapter.
Stella makes a brave choice or a foolish choice, you be the judge. I look forward to reading the next volume to see what happens to Stella and her good looking men. This series has everything the shoujo reader is looking for. It has an older teen rating for 16+ so things are bound to get steamy.

A young woman, Stella, awakens in a mysterious mansion not knowing how she got there. A young man is there and tells her that her carriage crashed nearby and he took her in to care for her. She asks if she can work as his maid. He introduces her to the other residents of the house - all peculiar men. They're kind of frightening and she notices odd habits but doesn't really think much of it - even when Levi licks the blood from a cut on her arm. She starts to develop feelings for Levi. She never once fathoms that she could be living with a bunch of vampires. It's not until the final chapter that one of them reveals the truth.

Not sure what to think of this one. Stella seems to be extremely naive. And the fact that the vampires sustain themselves on crystals made of human bodily fluids is....interesting. This might be a good fit for teen readers discovering vampire stories but it's not for me.

This manga is a gothic vampire dream! I love the art. All of the men are absolutely gorgeous. The lore is unique and particularly fantastic as well. I can't help but want more from it.
Stella is saved from a carriage accident on her way to a new job. The man who saved her brings her to his home, and so she takes up a job with him as a maid in his household instead of going on to her new place of employment. These 4 men are not all they are cracked up to be. They also continue to eat these crystal candies all of the time, and they look so pretty! When you learn what they are, you may think twice about it.
SO GOOD! DYING FOR VOLUME 2 ALREADY!

Not bad for a first volume in a manga. I like the premise and the ending opens things up to all sorts for love triangles. Because it’s the first volume it’s very much setting things up so I didn’t feel like we really got anywhere with in the manga. I would probably read the next one when it came out.

3.5 Stars….Those waiting to fill the void of Vampire Knight will lap up this new entree into gothic delight. The art is superb and our cast is featured in all kinds of gothic wardrobe fantasticness that’s sure to inspire some wicked cosplay. **Thank You to both NetGalley and VIZ Media for an eARC of this manga in exchange for my honest review.**

Our heroine finds herself the maid in a mysterious manor house filled with sexy (hungry) vampire boys and must come to terms with her new life among monsters. There’s lots of dark brooding and seductive caressing here as our gullible darling dashes around in and out of trouble. But then our chipper miss must put aside her fears to help those in need….indeed.

It almost feels a little like Fruit Baskets crossed with Vampire Knight. With some new twists on Vampire lore this could be a great start to a romantic gothic horror series (especially if the plot dials up a notch). The artwork is definitely leading over the plot at this point so we shall see how it plays out, but definitely worth the read for those who love that Gothic vibe (and the artwork alone!).

Rosen Blood follows Stella, a young woman who is saved from a fatal carriage accident by a group of mysterious men. Upon waking up in their gothic mansion, Stella immediately takes on work as their maid and finds herself at the center of a strange mystery.

Though Izhizue's art is absolutely stunning, there isn't much nuance to the characters in this manga. Stella is easily one of the most passive heroines I've ever seen in a shojo manga. It's immediately apparent to the reader that Stella is being kept by a group of vampires. Ishizue isn't shy about the repeated close up of fangs or the very obvious dialogue which includes all the men around Stella telling her she smells or looks delicious. Between the very obvious vampire plot (which never crosses Stella's mind, even after repeated vampire dreams and nearly being bitten within the first 30 pages of the manga) and the steam-lined romance between Stella and Levi, Rosen Blood doesn't really build a lot of narrative tension.

I'd recommend this to someone who's interested in a very straight forward manga, but sadly, if you like manga that centers a strong, nuanced heroine, I'm afraid this manga just ain't it.

This was more of a 3.5 for me, as this story definitely piqued my interest. The art is great, especially when it comes to the beautiful cover. I did find the pacing of this story very fast paced, which didn't really give me time to fully immerse myself with the characters. As a result, there wasn't a lot of character development, if at all, that felt genuine. However, the ending definitely set up the rest of the story, and I'm interested to see where it goes!
