V.E. Schwab is the moment. She not only created an artful and unique world in her previous Vicious books, but expanded it like no one else. This graphic novel proves once again that Victoria can do anything and everything she wants with her viciously creative and dashingly imaginative mind.

I loved the Vicious series and I think this comic book is a great 'getting back into that universe' read. It made me want to re-read the series.

I love the world VE Schwab has created where death is not always the end and can lead to the creation of EOs (those with ExtraOrdinary powers). If you are a fan of the Villains series then this graphic novel installment introduces you to a new EO - Charlotte and her run in with Eli.

This book does include some backstory into Victor and Eli which allows it to be a entry point to those who have not read the Villains series.

Also included is the short story Warm Up. I really love a short glimpse into the life of an EO.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher I was able to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

ExtraOrdinary is a graphic novel set between V. E. Schwab’s Vicious and Vengeful novels. Charlotte Tills died in a fatal bus crash only to be brought back and finds she has become an EO, a person with ExtraOrdinary abilities. Her particular ability allows her to see people’s deaths in reflective materials. When her own death stares her right in the face, death at the hands of Eli Ever, she decides to hunt both him and answers down.
She meets two other EOs who catch her a bit up to speed and with her helping them and them helping her both parties may get what they want.

This was a fun, fast paced comic. Charlotte’s story unfolds pretty quickly and if you’re not familiar with the Villains books this will give you a quick summary of what you need to know. Art was enjoyable and the story was good, read way too fast, side effect of a graphic novel unfortunately, but it was neat to see some of the characters from the book illustrated.

Charlotte is your typical teenage girl attending high school and taking it one day at a time. After a car accident while on the way to a museum for a field trip, she suffers life-threatening injuries. This brush with death has made her an EO -- an ExtraOrdinary, with powers to see how people will die in reflective surfaces. When she faces her own death, she decides to intervene with her "fate" and hunt down the man she sees who is responsible for her death.

Overall, I enjoyed the concept of this graphic novel, and I could definitely tell the plot was based on a novel rather than a standalone comic. I did wish there was a bit more character development, but that's a familiar feeling for me with the graphic format. But the concept of how EOs obtain their powers and the motivation of the villain was interesting, and I'll likely read the actual book series after.

The illustrations and font were well done as well, with only mild confusion in some of the more action-packed scenes. The most climactic scene ended too abruptly, which let me down a bit at the last minute. Nonetheless, I'll keep reading this series, and check out the fully written version.

An enjoyable companion graphic novel for those who like VE Schwab’s Villains series.

Mostly this feels like good “hold you over until the third book comes out” material. It’s original content rather than a graphic retelling of the novels, but the content doesn’t have any real significance to the overall story. While I would love to see graphic novel content that truly added to a series canon, this is what I generally expect from the medium when it’s used this way and it works perfectly well as something to keep you engaged with the story between books.

It’s worth a look if you like graphic novels and you’re already into the series, but not a starting point new to the Villains universe. There are some flashback scenes that depict the basics of early goings-on in Vicious (timeline-wise, these events take place between Vicious and Vengeful), though they wouldn’t help someone who had not read the novels to truly understand the overarching plot and don’t have much purpose to those who have read them.

Charlotte’s side plot (the main plot here) doesn’t captivate like the story of Victor and Eli does, but it’s still fun to read if you’re just craving more content from the Villains world.

The art itself is pretty standard for this subgenre of graphic novels, but is well-executed and pretty easy to follow even if you’re not a practiced graphic novel reader.

I do like the world created by V. E. Schwab. It’s great that this comic is for teens and with a girl as the main character (I assume it’s for teens). Charlotte Tills is a high school student who ends up in a school bus crash and dies only to be revived somehow. Now she has a mystical power though and she can see people’s upcoming deaths on reflective surfaces. She also sees her own and thus wants to prevent the second one by taking out the hero of EON. She isn’t the only ExtraOrdinary though and gets help, but taking out a whole organization isn’t something you can do just like that. For me the problem was that the story just begins and we don’t really get to know Charlotte or anything. Suddenly there’s a crash and then it’s running and fighting. Same with all the characters. The setting is interesting although very X-Men like, but still. This would need more pages to work out fully.
The cover is great, but all in all the art is just OK. The characters look wonky at times, but gladly the panels aren’t stuffed and the rhythm works, so the flow is good. Thus the problem is mostly content and how it’s presented than anything else. The color world is vibrant and the art is easy follow. Setting up the story would’ve helped this a lot, but otherwise this is OK.

We are back in the Villains Universe and in this short but exceptionally illustrated graphed novel we see Charlie survive an accident and gain the (super?)power of visualising how others will die. Fans of Vicious will love to see the representation of the characters. As usual this is brilliant stuff from VE Schwab who is truly one of the master story tellers of our time.

V E Schwab can do no wrong and in this return to the world of her Vicious duology, she smashes it out of the park again!

It is beautiful artwork, and of course the story is great. It was nice to have visual representation of the characters that I enjoyed so much in the books. There wasn't enough new content really though...

I really enjoyed this binding of comics. I've not read any of the Vicious series... yet. But I'll definitely be picking them up now. This was a great introduction to the world. The artwork was fantastic, very superhero comic book style. There is also a short story at the end of this book called 'Warm Up'.

I loved being back in this universe! I'll admit, I decided to not read too much about what this was about so when I started it I was very confused but after I got into it I was intrigued. I'm excited to see where this goes because I love this world and I missed it.

One day Charlie is living a regular day and the next she's barely surviving an accident and now has this new ability she has no idea about. She's confused and overwhelmed and after seeing someone in her visions that she recognizes, she sets out to learn more about what's going on. Corruption and confusion ensue as she learns who can and can't be trusted but when she learns she's in danger... she has a lot to think about.

This was short but exciting to see the beginning of what might come. I loved the illustrations a lot. All beautifully done and helped bring this world to life perfectly. Graphic Novels are hard for me sometimes since I'm usually just used to more but I thought that Charlie's journey to where we end up by the end of the book was enough to peak my interest. Very excited to see what's to come!

ExtraOrdinary was a refreshing welcome back into the Villains universe. I didn't realize how much I missed it until I was reading it. I loved Charlie and her abilities were absolutely haunting. The length of the graphic novel doesn't tend to lend itself well to fleshed out arcs - but I loved how Schwab managed to explore the nuances and complicated aspects of Charlie's powers. How she coped with seeing her own death but others and what she did about it. All in all, loved this and now I might end up re-reading the Villains books.

Well I loved Vicious and Vengeful - then again I love V.E.. This is the prequel I'm guessing to the rest of the graphics. I can't wait to dive in to them. This was a tad different from the novels, but the same concept. Well executed and the illustrations are great. I expected nothing less. Highly recommend if you're a fan.

I'm not obsessed with this series by any means, but I think this was a really good, nice addition. I liked Charlie and I liked the way it fleshed some more stuff out.

A much welcomed revist to the world of Eos, ExtraOrdinary was everything I hoped for and more....and now I'm going to have to re-read the series again....

Extraordinary is a continuation to Vicious that follows a new EO named Charlotte. Charlotte gained the ability to see how those around her will die after she had her near death (revived from death?) experience in a bus accident. With this new sight comes many questions for Charlotte and we follow her as she sets off to find some answers, the only problem is that the one and only Eli Ever knows about her and wants her dead.

Reading this graphic novel was basically just a fan girl experience for me. Vicious is my all time favorite book and when we were blessed with Vengeful a few years ago I thought it was the best thing ever UNTIL this graphic novel was announced. My love for extraordinaries meeting with my love for graphic novels is truly top tier literature for me. Being able to see parts of Vicious depicted in this graphic novel was such a wonderful surprise. I found this to be great because it means readers who haven’t read the book can read the graphic novel without too much confusion, but you really should read both because it would make much more sense and be more enjoyable. More importantly though, I got to see Eli and Victor come to life and that was more than I ever wished for.

Overall this graphic novel was outstanding. The new characters were all amazing and I desperately want to see of Felix, a badass nonbinary EO, and Mia! I will say that the cliffhanger at the end was jaw dropping and I absolutely cannot wait for more!
